This is some of the lamest outdated alterna-hope-we-make- the-main-stage-at-Big-Day-Out second rate Aussie garbage since Silverchair. It's true what they say about Australia: 3-4 years behind on most world trends. Do you think this PJ Harvey meets Hole shite would have sold a single record outside Australia when it was released? EVERYTHING about this was already outdated beyond Aussie borders. The thing about the music industry in Australia is that it breeds mediocre garbage and then makes stars out of mediocre bands like Magic Dirt by giving them gold records for Aussie sales of 50,000 units when they can't even get international record deals. I had no idea you were still churning out such tripe as a country. It's a pity cuz at one time you actually had the goods: Cosmic Psychos, Hoodoo Gurus, Saints, AC/DC. But this shit looks like an SNL skit mash-up of My So-Called Life and Pretty On The Inside-era Hole. It comedic. Oh yes what a serious serious contribution Adalita has made to music! Who? Seriously who?
@@misterslats WTF are you on about? This era of Magic dirt sounds nothing like Hole or PJ harvey its much more like Kims songs from Sonic youth Goo/Dirty era Considering Australia's population is only 25 million and USA is 350 million, Australia does pretty good especially that mid 80s to 90s period bands like The Scientist, Exploding white mice, The Saints, Radio birdman, Celibate riffles, Cosmic Psychos, Hoodoo Gurus, then into the 90s we were swamped with great bands, Tumbleweed, The Meanies, Silverchair, Magic Dirt, Screamfeeder, The Fauves , Spirderbait, Hard ons etc And then all the older classic like AC/DC, Men at Work, Midnight Oil etc
Damn I miss this magic dirt - pity they went commercial. I had 3 of their old cardboard albums, with all bar Adam's sigs on them - how I miss them now 8(
Oh, and Im not pissed off with the path they have taken, I would probably do the same if it meant the difference between cheap pub shows and huge CD/merchandise sales. I will definately look for "Girl" on YT, but with the hope that she reverts to a more kick arse strong vocal as I so fondly remember. Anyway, it all comes down to taste, and I will always appreciate their old sounds. And no apology necessary as I often resented those who knew only their new stuff lol =)
right. look. I apologise for coming off aggro, but this is one of my biggest pet peeves. this band is a fave of mine and it shits me to tears that a lot of their fans refuse to make the effort to connect with the new stuff. and get pissed off it's different to "life was better", or "friends in danger". all I'm saying is do yourself a favour and spend the $26.95 on 'Girl' and go check out a live show this year. they're easily one of the best live bands in australia.
"sorry but what the fuck are you talking about?" I might ask you the same. I stopped listening to MD when they DID go commercial - can't say I blame them, their new sounds sold many more albumns than previously (and was pushed upon them by their label). Look into their old school stuff, was much better than the "teeny bopper" tunes they have now. Yes, I've been to shows - picked Adalita some flowers and earned myself a hug, smoked a joint with them backstage - good times.
sorry but what the fuck are you talking about? 'Girl' is the fourth release on their own label Emergency Music. and they're touring nationally for like the next six months starting at the end of this month in Queensland. so i guess there's no need to lament. buy the album and get yourself a coupla fucking tickets to a show.
I understand what you're saying, but there is little I can do when a band changes the sound that catches me completely, to the point where I simply do not enjoy it anymore. Adalita doesnt have a fantastic singing voice, but she kicked arse to a young agro chic who was getting into the adult scene. Now I have kids and cannot make shows, and am not interested in their newer stuff. They ARE great performers, but the sound doesnt do it for me anymore.
True Aussie rock everyone wants to be proud of this band 🎸🎶🇦🇺👏👏👏👏

I cannot believe the crap that is written below, we live in 2008 not 1992.
