So many words come to mind. I fell in love with this band from opening track of Friends In Danger CD (same name of track). I found this video years later, and L7 said Bricks Are Heavy? For Love Not Lisa said Bring On The Heavy....yeah, I'm name dropping obscurity, like just reviewing Submerge by Come. If you know all of these songs and bands, comment here. If not, look them up. It is a rare breed that sees through the hype of the 90s to the core of how the music really changed. It wasn't grunge that changed the game, it was what they called post grunge or shoegaze or the unnamed genre where these bands fit and never tried to. Heavy is heavy. Art is art. Musicianship isnt always pretty. Vocals aren't always even, and Neil Young proved that a ragged guitar and snarling voice could move a real music lover to tears. Sometimes I go back and revisit a song like this and I thank God that I never loved a genre or a formula. Some days I just need to go and shut the door and let the story of my life play out in these songs. oh, and thank you Adalita.
