She fell out of that last turn in the first section, but she did it so elegantly and with so much poise that you could hardly tell (I only knew because I did this variation for Grand Prix one year). She has the mark of a true artist, to handle mistakes so flawlessly! Her future is surely a bright one!
I went back and watched Mackenzie in classes after she won because I remember thinking... really?... Go back and do the same... She is a complete stand out from the other girls with her artistry for someone so young. 16 years old! Wow! Every exercise is performed with star quality and her floor/pointe work is so precise and done with such love. Even the way she finishes each exercise beautifully whilst the other girls rush to leave the floor... She very much deserved to win. Bravo to a future star! xxx
her technique and movement quality is incredible! and her artistry is wonderful! she has obviously seen or researched la bayadère, because normally when competitors perform this variation, they have a big smile plastered on their face, when really this is a very melancholy dance (the kingdom of the shades). she really is a joy to watch, she’ll go far.
Her lines and movement are perfect but the difficulty of this dance is a little bit low. I think she absolutely can perform higher difficulty. For me, her contemporary dance is more outstanding. Anyway, she is such a great dancer.
What happened to penches? These dancers are so technically accomplished yet the refuse to do penches. I’ve been seeing ballet since 1957 when techniques were not as advanced as they are today, yet people did penches. Today you hardly see them! We gasped when we saw someone do a double pirouette then. Now they do 3 or 4, yet no penches! Why?
