Voice over also works perfectly during those "Nobody wants to watch someone peel a kilo of potatoes" moments too- Its not an all or nothing thing- you could use it to add little stories or anecdotes to your videos too!
I don’t think your guest at the end realise how much we would all love to have your cooking! I would be like a kid on Christmas! Looks mint. Don’t change too much please! Haha.
I don't mind voice-over every once in a while. I'm here for the gorgeous food, cooking instruction, and banter do what you do mate, I'm sticking around either way edited to add: also, gratuitous B-roll is still on point with melted cheese
Don't give up the VO if thats something that you like. Personally I really like the impromptu/live feel of your regular stuff because it gives that "as if I were there with you" feel. The only part that needs work is getting a plate of whatevers on the fire over my way :D I guess I'll have to cook my own for now.
Haven't had a pasta bake for years, this will be added to the menu next trip. Chefy question - wash vs peel mushrooms? I always remember peeling and read something about mushrooms absorbing water when washed so diluting flavour - whatcha think?
Don’t peel or bother washing them, just brush them off with a towel or paint brush, and use them. You’re losing a lot of flavour by peeling and there is no difference found in washing them vs not washing. If you’re eating wild mushrooms you actually need to squeeze water out of them
ahhhh pasta bake, I remember mum making it the night before footy games to "Carb up". I really don't mind the voice overs, I've been trying a few lately on our channel. gives another dimension to the vid and also makes it easier in editing. Cheers mate, do us a favour and go catch some marron, use a snare this time though haha nets are cheating!!
That kitchen set up is what dreams are made of!! Zero issues with the voiceover TBH. As the meal, looks amazing, although looked a bit watery? Either way, thanks for the always awesome content knackers 🍻
Hey harry looks like a great meal just noticed that your chopping board is moving around a bit when cutting and you can prevent this by putting a wet/damp tea towel under the board, but awesome video thought I’d give you that tip, can’t wait for more videos
Love the regular format with all the goofs and gaffs. Also no need to do the fast forward when tasting and mixing. Love to see it as is rolls out. Cheers. All good fun and entertainment.
Anything with leeks is always going to be great 👍 BTW, those ARB fridges look so like the myCoolman brand that one wonders whether its just a branding and considerable price difference🤔
Harry I hate to deviate from your OG recipes. Had a real late night arrival this evening and had to do a fridge leftover mashup. Mixed some leftover penne with your chakalaka, an egg, easy garlic and chilli and the main oddity- blood sausage. I know it sounds weird but it was insanely good, the blood sausage has such a carrying savoury quality it's worthy of more recipes. Sorry to get side tracked, love your work!!
Love your work! Im sure you know but a damp chux or tea towel under the chopping board will stop the slide.... What where those rubbish bags you are using on camp kitchen? can't see on gear page.. cheers
I'll definitely try this Harry , do you find crushed tomato removes the season in a cast iron pot ?? Ive always been hesitant to put canned tomato into cast iron , love to hear your thoughts ?
I’ve cooked tonnes of tomato dishes in my spun steel cookware over the years and it hasn’t really hurt the seasoning. I find that low and slow stuff does more damage, but then it’s just an excuse to build a fire in the back yard, crack a beer, crank up some tunes and re-season your cookware
Well if that B roll was how it came out of the cup and into the bowl. Your a bloody genius 😉😉. But I think otherwise. Super tasty looking meal... Cheers Mark...
If it makes YOU happy doing the last episodes format.... do it. And also.... personally I don't mind the voice over... I think what made it feel so impersonal is your perfect asmr quality recording setup. Not sure if that's something that could be played with. And I watch for you and the life you live more than the recipes... The tourer and vlog content is just as valuable to me as the cooking.
Have you thought of Fred doing the voice overs instead…. Do you find the draft skirt on the frontier useful? Never seen a need for ours so wonder what motivates you to put yours up.
😂😂 I’ll ask Fred. It was really windy and swirly the day before, and Bill is really hard to settle in the wind, so we put it up. Also, because I cook on fire it makes the camper a much better wind break
Can I suggest a wet towel underneath your board? Save that annoying slip. Also mushies almost always come dirty because they go slimey if they’re washed.
Oh noooooo, I was waiting for the white wine but tomatoes went in instead. The white wine version is one if our favourite dishes. Basically exactly the same recipe just swap the tomatoes for a cup or so of white wine.
Wooooh there's enough cheese, cream and butter to harden the arteries, that's not always a bad thing.... I also think you'd be able to cut right back on the salt as the ham is loaded with the stuff. Too many times a good meal is ruined by too much salt.🍺🍺🍺
I wonder why it's always Colonial Beer Harry drinks. Is it a paid promotion? Just seems like he promotes different styles of cooking but beverages should / has to be the same every time.
Love your videos, mistakes and all, but you do seem very unorganised. I would love to hear you say “B roll” without the word “gratuitous”. It’s gotten very old.
Harry making mistakes is normal, you make the videos fun and personal that's why we love them.
Voice over also works perfectly during those "Nobody wants to watch someone peel a kilo of potatoes" moments too- Its not an all or nothing thing- you could use it to add little stories or anecdotes to your videos too!
Thanks man, that’s the plan
Love it Harry, the mix of format on this one is perfect, meal looks great, gunna try this, cheers mate.
I don’t think your guest at the end realise how much we would all love to have your cooking! I would be like a kid on Christmas! Looks mint. Don’t change too much please! Haha.
You perfected the format on this one.
love the title "Gourmet Pyromaniac" suits you!
This one looks great.
I like the ease of it. I’ll be trying this one for sure.
Must try on my next adventure, looks yummy, thanks for sharing
I made this on the weekend and can confirm its delicious! Go easy on the water and it does serve approx 4-6 people. A really great big hearty meal.
Had planned to cook ribs from your book next week while we’re away but shops are almost out. This just became the replacement meal. Cheers 😊
I don't mind voice-over every once in a while. I'm here for the gorgeous food, cooking instruction, and banter
do what you do mate, I'm sticking around either way
edited to add: also, gratuitous B-roll is still on point with melted cheese

Love the way you keep it real and not edit out too much.
I've got to try this, looks tasty! Ran it by the wife and we both thought "throw some peas in there for some green". Maybe we'll try that addition.
That looks awesome and easy. Cheers mate 👍🤠
Haven't had a pasta bake for years, this will be added to the menu next trip. Chefy question - wash vs peel mushrooms? I always remember peeling and read something about mushrooms absorbing water when washed so diluting flavour - whatcha think?
Peel every time your bang on about washing plus from a camping view your not wasting water supplies too but yes peel everytime
Never peel. Most of the flavour is in the skin. Same as other veggies.
@@Mack74 Mushrooms are the only thing I peel but you’ve converted me I’ll give it a go

I have a freezer full of them!
We had this for dinner tonight. Delicious
Thanks🍻

I’m definitely going to try this once I get all the gear 👍

Please do more one pot wonders!
My favourite :D
Damn fine, from Townsville. Yummm!!
And Charlie's Trousers 🙌🏼
"I have running water at home, I'm not a savage" brilliant 🤣
Loved the VO style
Anything with leeks is always going to be great 👍
BTW, those ARB fridges look so like the myCoolman brand that one wonders whether its just a branding and considerable price difference🤔
Different manufacturers mate. They feel very different in person!
Great content well executed. By the way, this question may have been asked before…..Where did you get that knife ?

Love the show mate
It's midnight and I'm hungry 🤣
Love your work! Im sure you know but a damp chux or tea towel under the chopping board will stop the slide.... What where those rubbish bags you are using on camp kitchen? can't see on gear page.. cheers
I always forget to put the cloth down! They are Outback Cleanups Australia sacks - should be on the gear page
I'll definitely try this Harry , do you find crushed tomato removes the season in a cast iron pot ??

Can I ask how you rate that arb fridge
Thanks for this. Looking and sounding like a father with a young child.😜
Well if that B roll was how it came out of the cup and into the bowl. Your a bloody genius 😉😉. But I think otherwise. Super tasty looking meal...
Cheers Mark...
Harry could probably Gratuitous B roll a cheese toastie / grilled cheese & it would look good
Love the idea of a Pastor bake.
If it makes YOU happy doing the last episodes format.... do it.

I like the fact you could have simply swivled to the left and put the pot on a burner of the trailer kitchen
👍
wow!
never seen Zippo sponser anyone/thing!
Good on ya, Harry!
Cheers mate, they are such a natural fit and I’ve had a zippo for the last 20 years!
And at 13:27 the dish just became Instagram-worthy. Well done, Harry!
May not have green stuff but it has melted cheese so it’s definitely worthy 🤙🤙🤙🤙
Wait!! Does it go well with beer?!?
Shit! I forgot that bit!
Can confirm, it does though
another great video - thankyou! And the pasta bake looked tasty as . . . unlike the plumber's bum shot late in the video, haha!
Have you thought of Fred doing the voice overs instead…. Do you find the draft skirt on the frontier useful? Never seen a need for ours so wonder what motivates you to put yours up.
Ps. My toddler shat herself and smeared it on the tiles while watching this video. This is your audience now.
😂😂 I’ll ask Fred.
It was really windy and swirly the day before, and Bill is really hard to settle in the wind, so we put it up. Also, because I cook on fire it makes the camper a much better wind break
FFS - does it go with beer?
Who needs the green stuff?
9:13 That large rock you positioned there looks like it's paying dividends right now :)

Oh noooooo, I was waiting for the white wine but tomatoes went in instead. The white wine version is one if our favourite dishes. Basically exactly the same recipe just swap the tomatoes for a cup or so of white wine.
One of the ways to avoid missing an ingredient is to follow a recipe. I know a really good recipe book for fire cooking....... oh.... hang on ......
Wooooh there's enough cheese, cream and butter to harden the arteries, that's not always a bad thing.... I also think you'd be able to cut right back on the salt as the ham is loaded with the stuff. Too many times a good meal is ruined by too much salt.🍺🍺🍺
Probably shouldn't wash mushrooms!! Just wipe off with a damp cloth... apparently!!
that looked awesome... I am pretty sure you could get away with gratuitous B roll of what ever the hell you wanted Champ, just saying
Great video! You only forgot 1 ingredient.
Harry please put a towel under your chopping board so it doesn't slide around, it's hard to watch
Do you recycle any of your waste...
Absolutely. Everything that can be recycled is. That’s why I have 2 bags, to separate it
first
Hey man. How’s Owen?
@@NathanKingOverland wow.
@@lukewilson828 I’m really digging that Loki series on Disney+. I’m glad you weren’t really dead.
15:14 You might call it a C roll but to me it's still worthy of a b* roll {lower case B} 🙂
I wonder why it's always Colonial Beer Harry drinks. Is it a paid promotion? Just seems like he promotes different styles of cooking but beverages should / has to be the same every time.
I’ve done a few videos on them- they don’t pay me, but they are my favorite brewery.
That's not a knife
Maybe stop plugging gear and just focus on a coherent recipie? I hope feedback is still welcome.
Love your videos, mistakes and all, but you do seem very unorganised. I would love to hear you say “B roll” without the word “gratuitous”. It’s gotten very old.
I hate voice overs doesn't feel real.
