I think the chest problem you were having could just be due to the fact that you can't see through walls in Minecraft. In Terraria where it is 2D you can see a lot more around you, making it a lot easier to find underground houses and chests. Not 100% sure, but that could be the case. And of course you can't have everything be a complete 1:1 scale with Minecraft, because the block sizes are different. In Terraria players fit in a space of 3 blocks high and 2 blocks wide. In Minecraft it's 2 blocks high and 1 block wide. So the respawn rate of chests and items will never truly be the same.
There is a lot to this mod I think needs to change just because things work different going from 2D to 3D. I think the torches should be brighter, not necessarily give off more light, but the texture colors on the models themselves should be brighter. And the jungle doesn't at all look and feel like a jungle. I think the tree density should be a lot higher so that all the trees are much closer together. As well as the bodies of water in the jungle should be wider. In 2D, the jungle often has some wide bodies of water with piranhas in it. 😅As for game performance, I think having things like the grass being 3Dish voxel like bits might be slowing things down and it would have been better to go with the same style of normal Minecraft grass with just 2 flat images crossing each other. Maybe the same could have been done for vines, rope and other things like that. But an option to turn stuff like that from 3D to 2D mode would be good to have.
I also think when platforms are added is to increase how much you get through crafting instead of 2 to make up for the extra dimension.
Personally, they should use Pehkui to enlarge the player model.
another thing i don't feel translate the best to 3D is the ui, the hp, mana and hotbar being so out of the way feels a lot worse in first person
Solution: be a 4 dimensional being
I would love if someone made a Minecraft like game with half or even 1/3 of Minecraft's block size, just because it would allow more detailed building that isn't possible in Vanilla without mods.
It is why I love both Terraria and Starbound building more.
I remember you did a playthrough on this mod more than a year ago, this was the series you hit 1 million subs during! Love Terraria, love what you do, please keep doing it because its great.

As for the ghost in the caverns, the official Terraria Wiki states the following:
"The Ghost is an enemy that spawns in the Cavern and Underground layers during the Halloween seasonal event."
This is a little specific, but that explains why you encountered one in the caverns 😉

Impossible to contain! Except building your base and npcs city up in the skies and keep cleansing the corrupted areas... it would be tedious though. No way this would work...

The silence at times is due to the lack of time to work on the project, and other factors outside of our control.

I remember trying this mod years ago, back when i was like 12 years old and didnt have the means to play Terraria, and besides the slightly different world gen u couldnt even craft the 8 items they added without getting into creative mode, gotta love seeing how these projects developped over the years

The coding for this is seriously impressive, it's so much harder than it may seem at first but you can tell how advanced it really is upon close inspection.

This kinda makes me wish for a 3D Terraria if they do a second one, similar to how Risk of Rain went 3D in the sequel. The new dimension changes a lot more than just visuals.

My opinion is to give mobs who go through walls and liquids glow if they are in close distance, because some of theys enemy's and bosses look like a pain in de ass to deal with since you have ingeneral less vision and control over your overall surround.
The amount of effort put into this mod is insane, glad they're continuing to work on it now.
I feel like a complete overhaul mod like this would be better done in Minetest though since it's so easy to mod.
not being able to pronounce a word (in this case sakura), going on a quick trip for one thing and coming back with a packed inventory and then randomly fighting a boss is probably the most relatable terraria video I've ever seen.
6:07 I'm impressed by the detail of the door breaking due to no tiles being above it.
Feels like they really need to do a set seed for this that is more reminiscent of terraria progression. Which minecraft has a built in mechanic for this that a lot of mods and custom content takes advantage of. World borders.

I pretty much did everything I can on Terraria, knowing that this mod exists now, I think it will be fun to relive the game again from a different perspective, definitely gonna try it.

What a great combo! To me this shows how cool Minecraft could be with more items and stuff to do. The normal version is great, but they could make a spinoff like this.

I haven't seen this mod for a long time, thanks for uploading this, chippy. some people might not know this, but terraria actually released before Minecraft! However, Minecraft was in development before terraria, and already had hype. Still a nice fact to know!
Minecraft was released quite a bit before Terraria, I used to play it a lot before Terraria came out
I know what you mean though, Minecraft didn’t ‘release’ for quite a while because of the alpha/beta period
@@ChippyGaming The official release (1.0) released in November, 2011, and Terraria released in May, 2011. However, there were beta and alpha releases of Minecraft far before, (up until 2009!) Both game took inspiration, so it's a nice healthy community between both for the most part.

One thing that i think this mod needs to make it more alive is custom skyboxes. maybe just designs of the terraria backgrounds but it would make traversing the game world a lot more enjoyable imo
