      I was thinking about that these days, too! From what her coworkers say, Kiana seems like a very interesting, all-encompassing Smosh member. I imagined the reason she hasn't been featured on camera is because she doesn't like it, which I totally get, so I guess we'll just let her legend be told by/through the Smosh cast and crew. 🤓

      People should read whatever they enjoy and people should feel the freedom to write whatever they want to. However people should also be allowed to pick apart whatever they want as well. That's how I enjoy things, even the more simple stuff that you mostly turn your brain off for, and it gets really annoying being told repeatedly "Well you're giving it too much thought, just read something else instead" when all I'm doing is enjoying it the way I like the most as well. People tend to see people picking things apart as only ever negative or constructive, when in reality there's also a group of people that just enjoys the process of picking it apart and sharing their thoughts on it. If people are allowed to write and read books that don't require a lot of deep thought behind it and enjoy it, why aren't people also allowed to enjoy picking those stories apart the same way they enjoy picking apart the deeper reads? It's just weird since people don't really say much if you say you like to look for plot holes in B grade movies, but if you like to do it with books its weirdly more sacred?

    • @hernameispekka_Rebecca
      @hernameispekka_Rebecca 6 місяців тому +4

      @@Penquinn14 Well, I'm also someone who finds enjoyment in "Picking apart" stuff. But there is a way that can be done while still making it clear that you're not talking down on the people just enjoying it. Many times "fun nitpicking" falls over the line. And you also have to know the place and audience. I'm autistic and have many times failed on that point. If someone is enjoying something, don't stomp in and rain on their parade. Also, doing complement sandwiches work well. Starting with "I know this is a fun show and they are not going for realism in costuming but here is my analysis on how it compares to historic fashion [...]". And people really look down on so many different genres in all media.

    Parent trap actually saved my parent's marriage (kind of). When I over heard my mom tell her best friend at the time that she wanted to divorce my dad I freaked out. So, just like the parent trap, 11 year old me with my siblings made dinner for my parents and tried to make it fancy. We made grilled cheese and cut it into triangles, applesauce as a side, and had the chips surround a lit candle. Afterwards me and my siblings told my parents we wanted to try to work things out. It worked, but not in the way you expect. Instead of going to marriage counseling like normal couples do, my mom decided to join the military and leave us for a year which lead my dad to give himself a huge reality check. Big life change that heavily favored us in the end though.

    I'm so glad Shayne brought up ACOTAR and the purpose of certain books/shows/movies/media. I've always been such a vocal supporter of purely entertaining movies because people are too often snobby about the 'classics' and 'critically acclaimed' stuff. But like sometimes, sitting down, cracking a beer open, or pouring a glass of wine, and putting on some Shrek 2 has so much meaning behind it as well.

Like I get it, we all like entertainment, but most of the ‘content’ streaming services exclusively cater to audiences nowadays is pretty miserable. Shrek 2 is great, like thats a well-made movie. Daniel had to just improve his childrearing and domestic skills and the court probably would have changed the custody agreement down the line: there was literally no need to become Mrs. Doubtfire.

    I think what's so important about the head empty book reading is that there's a huge discussion in literature about who chose the "classics" as well. Like most of the classics are by or from the view point of affluent white men, and very rarely do you get a classics written by people of color offered up first. It was something we spoke about a lot when I was getting my English degree and I think that it's important to think not only about what books are being recommended but also the pool of books that they are coming from.

      She was just being honest. Beyoncé is a grown woman with kids and a husband who puts on a stage performance like the black queen she is. Taylor Swift is a bit one note and her relatability is very difficult if you are not a white woman. Representation matters and one of them is a lot more relatable to the global majority❤️❤️❤️
