England concede a goal for the first time under Terry Venables but preserve their unbeaten record under him by drawing 1-1 with an impressive Romania side at Wembley in October 1994. Robert Lee marks his full England debut by equalising on the stroke of half time after Ilie Dumitrescu had put the Romanians ahead.

Yeah they had such a squad during this time & as a Welshman am gutted we faced them in 2 Qualifying groups. What with the likes of Hagi, Petrescu etc etc. TOP team 'back in the day'..

@@kailashpatel1706 One theory is that the cultural style of football for a lot of the top nations nations like England, Germany, Spain etc has evolved over the past 20 odd years, where as the style hasn't really evolved in the same way with Romanian football. They have sort of remained a bit "stuck" in the past, where as a lot of the other countries have transformed the way they play. It's much more of a pass and move game now than it ever was and countries like Romania have never really developed in the same way or they have struggled to. Perhaps that will change.
