Julie's podcast was the podcast I was most anticipated for, because she focuses on something that is very important. maintaining health and fitness on how that impacts health care and disease/injury prevention is so crucial. When I first heard that she was a med student while competing I felt that she was going to bring something special to the table, and I was not disappointed. This is a great podcast

Julie - I have never made a comment on a youtube video before but you have been a huge inspiration for me to continue with crossfit (which I have been doing for 3 years now and am also a Michigan native!). So glad you decided to start a podcast.

Julie you are amazing!!! I loved watching this! I'm so excited that you're doing this. I would really love to hear more from you about your take on nutrition and your passion about natural medicine. I think for your first podcast it went really great! I'm sure it can be awkward to be filmed, knowing that thousands of people will be watching you, but I commend you for taking a stand for health and for sharing such vital information with the world :) You truly are one of my biggest role models and I'm excited for your next podcast! P.s. You did say you wanted feedback, and it might have been because you were nervous, or maybe it's because you're so freaking nice, but you said "that's awesome" a lot.....Ok that's all the feedback I have! I love you!

Hey Julie! If I may, and I know you are new to this and literally everyone here just adores you...but you would probably get much better interview results if you ditched relying so much on a script for your questions, and focused more on have an actual conversation with the interviewee. You clearly have the confidence, experience, and knowledge to have a genuinely great conversation about anything fitness and/or health related. My advice would be just having an outline of things you think are interesting, then let the conversation flow. This would also probably inadvertently eliminate the fillers you use to segue from question to question, with "that's awesome," being a perfect example. Anyway, I wish you the best! You were always one of my favorites to watch! Keep up the great work :-)

    Hi Julie!
I've been a long-time fan and you've always been one of my favorite competitors. I've always loved your story and always wondered how you managed to balance crossfit & being a med student. Maybe you would say you have not been able to devote as much time to either one, but every year you come back and do amazing things! I saw on a recent interview you're on your last year and think that is so cool.
I just found this podcast and look forward to making my way through it.
I wish you the best and hope to see your life unfold - thank you for sharing it with us all :)

Great show! Rich sure is a stand up guy. I can appreciate how he struggles to find a balance because I just found CrossFit a few months ago and I want to be competitive as soon as possible, but I am also a single father so I have to balance my job and my daughters gymnastics, with my training and responsibilities at home. Have to love it to stay with it! It's easy to love the sport, especially when you see the great people in the community of CrossFit.

Great idea Julie this podcast was awesome. Love the idea of getting fellow health-conscious people to talk about their ideas and lives, but would love to see some podcasts of your speaking about your opinions and philosophies regarding what you've learned about health and the medical industry from your schooling, your exerience with crossfit and where you would like to take your crossfit passion in the future, etc! You are an interesting individual so that would be something I would love to see! Thanks Julie and again good job! :)

Greetings from sunny (sarcasm) London Julie! Great podcast. Cant wait for others. Unlike Barbell Shrugged there is no constant interruption and laughter on your podcast. I remember on one episode Mark Devine was going to say something really useful and those folks interrupted him and the answer got forgotten. Big fan of yours.

Great job Julie! I really enjoyed hearing a great Crossfit athlete such as yourself ask the questions and talk with athletes like Rich and even their wives like Ashley and Hilary. As far as feedback, you do pause and use filler words a lot and like someone else on here mentioned you do say "that's awesome" often. Keep up the great work and the best of luck on your recovery!

Hi, Julie - I'm very excited to see you doing a podcast. I especially connected with your introductory statement in this podcast regarding your disappointment that the medical community treats the disease (I'm assuming you meant Big Pharma), rather than treating the person. I look forward to seeing your next podcasts.

Enjoyed the podcast and I like the format that you choose. I think that Rich said many good things in regards to health and that physical fitness should be a part of it and to enjoy other sports along with crossfit. I got into crossfit for better health and I'm seeing the benefits of it and I really enjoy the community aspect of it and even though you didn't talk much about it I believe that it's a great aspect of the sport.
I have to agree with +Ricky Ryan down in the comments that when it comes to talking about the bible and the good I can't believe that. But your interview has shown that he is a good person and I believe that it has nothing to do with the bible, but if it does help him then and he strives to be a good person I'm not going to fault him for it.

Julie awesome job on the podcast and interview! Great job! Some recommendations for future podcast would be "the Future of CrossFit" high schools that are changing their entire PE programs over to CrossFit there are a couple, one is in the North County San Diego area (Mission Vista High School). Also the impact of CrossFit in the Army. I know CrossFit HQ is running a program with an Active Duty Army Unit at Fort Leavenworth, KS to compare the results of CrossFit to the Basic Army PT program.
I feel like (aside from the success of boxes around the world and the CrossFit games) high school #PE programs and the military could really help boost #CrossFit to a higher level of acceptance in society (as a whole). I will provide some links to research for potential future interviews. Keep up the good work!

Smart using Rich as a first guest, definitely a way to get people interested. BUT the purpose of this video/podcast is to talk about Pursing Health, which Froning talked about in the last 2 minutes of the video. Everything else was about CrossFit and his life/career. I feel like it lost a bit of it's purpose on the whole Pursing Health, I wouldn't show this to anyone who is interested in knowing more about health itself (or maybe just the last two minutes).

    • @JulieFoucher
      @JulieFoucher 9 років тому +12

***** I'm sorry you didn't get more out of the first part of this episode. To me, health encompasses a lot and it was interesting to hear about the mental and psychological ways Rich has grown from understanding his purpose and overcoming adversity at the 2010 Games. I think it is also interesting to hear what an impact CrossFit has had on his larger community and neighbors, not just those who are interested in competing. In the future we will have episodes that are more "medicine-focused" in addition to CrossFit, I hope you will tune in again for those! :)

    • @ellenbritto

Nice job for a first time.
Always particular how people talk about the bible's teachings... Just happy they don't actually follow its teachings, instead they pick and choose based on their inate morality. It's good for everyone they do so, if not, they would be stoning adulterous women, having slaves, killing non-beleivers, killing people who work on Sundays and the list goes on and on.
Rich Froning is a good person because he chooses to be, not because of some book. But hey, if he needs that and sticks to only the good stuff, so be it.
