Soon after I got interview from leading bank. Four rounds of interview later, got the job in dec 2014. Back in my Uni days in Toronto. I went to a group interview for a part time bank teller position. I got the job. But the other applicants had way more job experience than I did from their home countries. One dude was as an assistant branch manager at ICICI and another guy had 15 years investment banking experience in Hong Kong.
Now i dont know for sure if this was a group interview for multiple job descriptions ..but the content of the interview was same for all.
In any case, unless you already have a job offer in place. Be prepared to start from scratch if necessary. Fortunately, in Canada it does not take 10+ yrs to rise up the ranks like in India or elsewhere. Upward mobility is swift if you’ve put in a decent amount of work into it. Good luck my fellow Indians.

Hey MadMan I have heard similar things about everyone getting a fair chance to climb up the corporate ladder and speciafically getting opportunities in the bankimg sector even though the applicant had no banking experience in India. And the applicant I am talking about is the son of our family friends. And he secured this job at a bank at age 31 or 32.
May I ask, 9 months after your comment above, what kind of work do you do nowadays?

Struggle is real when you come to any country especially canada. It took me 10 months to get a job related to my field (electrical engineering) back in 2016. I did part time jobs in between but never got disappointed. you need to keep focused and be ready to do odd jobs here and there until u get your dream job. and you do get a job, you do settle down. once you have first job, second third jobs come easily.
P.s. your videos are very good Pooja. I have recently started watching them and love the content. Keep up the good work.

    • @JeremyMacDonald1973
      @JeremyMacDonald1973 4 роки тому

Your choices are basically Poutine (you have a deep frier? Are you seriously going to make Cheese Curds from scratch.... that is hardcore), Nanaimo bars (a bit advanced but doable), Walnut Butter Tarts (again a bit advanced but doable) or Tourtière which I would think would be the easiest of the batch but I have never actually tried it. Unless your making one of those four it is not authentic to Canada (well unless you can cure your own meat and make Peameal Bacon). Well not unless you want to cook Aboriginal food - but for that you generally have to hunt and kill it yourself and I am not sure Peekapoo would be comfortable using a rifle to bring down a Moose (to be fair there are Aboriginal places that do fusion versions of Aboriginal cooking - but I think a lot of them know some one that will go out and shoot the Moose).
I was born in this city and I never cook anything authentic except that I buy Peameal Bacon for Bacon and eggs. That is about the extent of authentic I get.
Here is the thing - according to United Nations Statistics Toronto is the most culturally diverse city on the planet. More then 50% of the population was born some where else. How do you cook in your country? For Toronto that is authentic.
Also you can get anything in this city food wise. Are you hankering for "Chinese" food like they make it in India (which really makes it Indian food but...) you can get that here.
Actually that reminds me - want authentic Canadian Food... well just like the fact that Indian Chinese food is really Indian food (they don't eat that in China) the same is true of Canada. Canadian Chinese food is really Canadian Food (they don't eat that in China). So I suppose if your looking for Authentic Canadian food some of the fake Chinese dishes are authentically Canadian. Only a few really Canadian though - usually they are actually American.
Also in Toronto it can be hard to find these places as most Chinese Restaurants are pretty authentic to some region of China at this point. If you want to find that fake Canadian Chinese food you have to look for it otherwise your going to just be eating authentic Hebei Province style food or some such. Your best bet is to find some small town that has just one Chinese restaurant... that will serve you the fake Chinese food that Canadians used to flock to eat. Personally I love the stuff - it is a bit of a guilty pleasure.

I don't think it's that difficult to land a corporate job in Canada for immigrants who speak English these days. Telecommunications companies (the big 3) / banks etc. have tons of (sales /service) over the phone jobs which these days one can do from home. In fact these companies r hiring all the time for work from home sales/service positions. One can sell or service a product from anywhere in the world. I mean would one care if the agent giving you your balance or effecting your billing address change is working from Bay Street Toronto or deep inside the amazon jungle.

    Hello I am Sai Santosh..
    I live in Hyderabad (India)
I just want to enter into SAP FICO job...
Reason for this is because, most of the abroad projects will be taken care from india right..
So i choosed this SAP field..
As it was implemented in many countries and working on it now...
Basically I am from B.Com background...
My all time dream is to work in abroad...
At present I am searching for a job in here..
But as we are already well known that, anywhere everywhere corpotates, they look for only experienced people....
So I thought 1st I need to get into a SAP job over here..
Later on by holding experience in hands, if i apply in abroad it would be a helpful thing to m....
This is what my thought process right now..
What i am seeking now is,
How are the job oppertunities for SAP over there in canada and have you came across anything with this
    SAP stuff?

I live in Mississauga, this city is very costly and rent is very high, earlier i was living in Etobicoke. I recently got my work permit, struggling for a job because we are a married couple and the city is very costly so we both have to work.
