I believe it's pronounced like "Hess". I think the umlaut over the "o" leads itself to being pronounced like French "e", or "uh". So it may also sound like "Huss". No criticism. I was under the impression it was the same person. I am wrong. There is also a Rudolph Hess (spelled and pronounced that way). He was appointed Deputy Fuhrer by Adolf Hitler. He flew solo across the channel to Scotland in 1941 in an attempt to broker a peace deal to end hostilities with the UK, which fell through. He became a POW and was imprisoned under a life sentence until his death in 1987.
