- WEST HAM TO LOSE ANTONIO? | SQUAD REBUILD STARTS WITH STRIKER SEARCH | TONEY AND EN-NESYRI TARGETED
The season has yet to end and already the transfer rumours are doing the rounds
As with a number of players, Michail Antonio's future lies in the balance.
Will he stay at West ham? Or, is he likely to look for pastures new?
Youssef En-Nesyri and Ivan Toney are regarded as frontrunners in Julen Lopetegui's mind to replace Antonio
This is a brief analysis of both players

Antonio will always be a West Ham legend
Whatever happens he’ll always be West Ham.
Still has something to offer, always gives 100% & defenders hate him as he's a big lump & bully, love the bloke ⚒
I have to admit that I do think Antonio’s time is up
his mental health touched me stel ....he is been good servant to us but i rhink is time for him to move on
Yep it’s more prevalent in our society than we think.
But you’re right… it’s probably best for both parties if Antonio moves on this summer
He has been a great servant for us so we should wish him well whatever the outcome
Michail’s stats are brilliant, I would keep him!
Hi Stel I have no problems with Antonio tried is hardest in a poor system good luck to him
I do think it’s time for him to go but he’s been a great servant for the club
We do need a massive rebuild and I think it needs to be done without emotion.
I’d get rid of Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell (Lopetegui apparently offering him a new deal) Soucek, Antonio, Coufal Fabianski Ings
If we broughtt in 5 players and promoted some kids I’d be happy with mid table.
It’s going to be tough next season. The squad is old & thin & Lopetegui going to need at least 2 windows just to replenish the squad.
My understanding is Cresswell hasn’t been offered a new deal, but I agree sentiment has to be set to one side in this summer’s squad rebuild
You have no chance replacing all of those whilst David Sullivan’s at the Helm,, if he does, it would be like for like bargain basement
@@peterjones2903 says who? I’m not expecting £100m players.
If we strengthen the important positions & promote kids I’ll accept a mid table finish.
We need a rebuild with faster flowing football with younger players therefore some players including Antonio should now be moved on. 2 or 3 years ago we were saying the same thing about replacing Antonio. We discovered a new super sub in our last game. George Earthy!
Inclined to agree Paul
Maybe it’s time for Antonio to go
Hopefully we get Ivan Toney but that's like trying to get Amorim. I'm now not getting excited. I will believe it once I see Ivan Toney on Tim Steidten jet.
Toney’s in London so it might be a private train carriage 😂😂
Ivan only needs to get on the Central line 😅😅😅😅
Love Michael, want him to stay nobody does what he does! COYI
As always Stel thanks another interesting listen,, but as transfer windows before I think everybody is going to be really disappointed,, and I hope Any new additions are not left until last minute.
Been told that transfers will be done early this summer. But then we’ve been told that several times over the past few years
Id keep Micky for one more season.
Needs to come on, when we need a late winner.
I can see the logic in keeping him for squad depth, my my gut tells me perhaps we should move on from him
Much food for thought Stel. Ideally we should look to have 2 players for every position, so even if Antonio stays we should have another striker. I think El Nesyri or Toney could work. Mikey seems to have had a new lease of life of late and would make a great starter and maybe an even greater impact sub. With news of his mental health issues though perhaps he will want a more relaxed life... the decision is his to make.
He’s very brave to have discussed mental health issues. I applaud him
I do think however that perhaps it’s time for him to move to pastures new
A manager should be aware of all these issues and pick his squad based upon mental and physical health conditions. Antonio has had some great moments for West Ham but we need to move on.
Good point Oliver that a manager should always be aware of what’s happening with his players
I'd be happy for Antonio to get another season Stel, as an impact sub. And anyway, there's already so many squad slots to fill that we don't need yet another one. I'd sooner we try and persuade someone to take Ings anyway.
In terms of making sure the squad has decent depth I get it
But I do feel that Antonio needs to move on
@@WESTHAMVOICE Yeah, I worry you may be right Stel. We know he tried to engineer a final payday before and now with a divorce to pay for he might be hard to persuade. Would put us in a bind though cos we'd need to bring in TWO strikers IMHO. I'd prefer Solanke to both of them btw cos he's 18 months younger than Toney and just as good and proven in PL as opposed to en Nesyri (and 3 months younger).
Under Moyes only the keeper plays his position:)
True lol
Stel cresswell signed a one year contract read on the sky scores app looking at the photo of the players out of contract and sold I see Pablo Fornals felt sad should have been in a west ham shirt this season and Benny boy did we need them
Hello mate not disputing what you’re saying about Cresswell, but I can’t find that story on the app
Hi Stel,
Solanke would be great move if we can get him regardless of the Antonio situation.
I hear we get a 5M bonus if Rice wins the Premiership??
Bloke down the pub said, must be true!
Solanke is a good call
That bloke down the pub must be an IDK (I don’t know) 😂😂
one more games time to spend time with our love ones ha ha they be glad when the season start go chat time to put that spicy rum a way we have in a end of season party we all do a family predictions and cups for winners should be fun my Daughter and grandson are arsenal fans
We all need a break from it mate - especially from the travelling and drinking
Roll on next season 😂😂
Been a good servant to the club so let him go on a free but can’t have him at 34 playing the lone forward roll 🤷🏻
With one year left we might get £7 / £8m for him but agree if it hinders him leaving then let him go for free
I don't want to see Antonio starting in the Pl but would be happy for a bench position if he is happy to do it. At the end of the day, if his body and mental health is up to that change, then keep him at WHU.
As a starter no way
I even have doubts whether we should keep him as a back up
Was J.Lo manager of Wolves when Cressy was rumored to be going there? Would he keep him he's homegrown
Yes the rumour was at the same time, but just like the Antonio link, I think Cresswell was only linked because he would have been the cheap option to get a player in
Not so sure lopetegui would have gone for him if there was money available
Keep Antonio for me, if he is happy too be our 2nd striker and only be an impact sub, or maybe just play in cup games then definitely keep him, he has proved that he can score goals and give defender's a nightmare ❤
I can’t help feeling we should be moving on from him to be honest
Spurs and Man U also rumoured to be looking at toney
Heard the spurs rumour but not Man Utd
@@WESTHAMVOICE well Man u are after everyone and they are signing 50 players this summer if you believe them ??😄😄
I think Antonio has been very good for us I would like to keep him as a squad player bringing him on if needed in the last 20 minutes would be a defenders nightmare.
It would be mate but is it time we started to look at younger fresher players?
If Toney was to join and Paquetá stays they could setup a gambling cartel!😉🙄🙃
😂😂😂😂
Moyes failed to get us into Europe, so no top top quality signings for us.....why would they want to join us now.....quality Championship players & pearls for us I reckon mate.
Not so sure Steve
With Lopetegui coming in and with the players we will have next season - Bowen, kudus etc - some decent players may fancy the chance of getting West Ham back into Europe next season
@@WESTHAMVOICE Hope you're right Stel....we'll see!
David Sullivan fell to get us into Europe my club. West Ham deserve a better owner.
If he's under contract I'd keep him as an impact sub. If he really wants to go for a higher salary, they never pay a good enough transfer fee. I'd like two strikers, so we've got three including Antonio, like most clubs. If we buy one main striker I'd prefer Solanke. Toney us out if form and En Nesryi is up and down.
I can’t help feeling we should let Antonio go to be honest
Solanke is a very good shout
Oh do me a favour Antonio never played CB think again he has mate
Not for West Ham he ain’t
Not for me Stel. In reality Antonio has blown hot and cold over the last 3 seasons. I'd be more than happy to let him go. Toney's stock is starting to slip. It would be just like WH to buy him and then his stock slips even further. And he's 28. En-Eesyri, at 26, would be a more viable option. But, I think 'The Pearl Diver' could get two decent strikers for £15 Million apiece.
Don’t really disagree Paul
I do think it’s time for Antonio to move on
Toney would be an interesting one but as someone else has said his sell on value wouldn’t be that great
Don’t think I’ve ever really been a fan on en nesyri but happy to be proved wrong on him
Antonio one of our best buys in decades, I will always think of him fondly in a Hammers shirt, but think it is time for him to move on, truth is he was a brilliant right winger, he was never more than a stand in striker. Time to move forward.
Good point. He has indeed been good value for money, but it’s time we look ahead to the future
Westham can draw
But Bob hope of that
Stranger things have happened
This was interesting thanks Stel. I thought a striker would’ve been on the bottom of our priority list , only because of the way Lopetegui sets up. I’d like Antonio to stay but as you say, it depends what he decides after the head coach arrives. It’s a relief to me that Moyes won’t be choosing players, especially a forward who didnt fit his 😂system. I think it disrupted the team when he had unhappy strikers like Scamacca who Moyes didn’t want anyway. I have much more faith that Lopetegui will nurture our squad. I don’t know enough about strikers to know which would be best for us, but I’m much happier this transfer window will see us bringing in players who will hit the ground running and fit in to the team well. Have you seen what Teddy Sheringham has said… that Rice is too good for Arsenal and that he did the work of two players this season. It’s amusing to read the Arsenal fans response. It’s amusing to see that nobody can voice an opinion without getting such abuse. Anyway, I’m glad Rice helped West Ham but I don’t want him to win the league. I’m sort of ashamed of myself😂but I’d like him to move to Spain! It’s weird wanting to lose a game, I’ve never in my many decades wanted us to lose but that’s the way I feel. I guess you’re going to Manchester. Do you want us to lose? Have a good Sunday whatever happens.
Hi Joan thanks as always for your response
I can’t help feeling that perhaps we need to let go of Antonio and really start to bring in younger players.
I can see why he board think we need a striker - but we most certainly need to sort out our defence and I’m sure lopetegui will do that
I think our transfer window will be more efficient with Moyes gone
Heard bits of what Sheringham said about Rice. Rice won’t be leaving to be honest… he’s too settled in London which is why he didn’t even move up north.
I’m in two minds on Sunday.. best scenario is we don’t lose but Everton do the business over Arsenal.
Many fans haven’t even considered that Everton could beat them
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if that happened
I’ll be at Manchester on Sunday … ⚒️⚒️
Thanks for your reply. I sort of knew you wouldn’t choose to see us lose. It would be fantastic if Everton won, Dyche has kept them up and it would be great to see him win but very unlikely. It’s a funny old game though, that’s why we love it.
Antonio. To Ipswich
Intriguing shout
Stel i have notice that all these Kudus Rumours my coming out of hes Family/ Africa or maybe he's Agent at it, any thoughts.
on Antonio i would move on past he's best same with Zoumar
i would try and keep Thilo Kehrer
Benny ?
It wouldn’t surprise me if kudus agents are trying to stir up interest
I think west ham will hold tight and make teams wait till next summer
As for Antonio I agree it’s maybe time for him to move on
Not so sure about Benrahma. He’s blown hit and cold for so long I no longer know if that’s because of Moyes or not
Kehrer would be good to keep but I think Monaco have an obligation to buy
@@WESTHAMVOICE I agree with you
I keep fab at this stage he will be a good back up
It’s likely that Fabianski will be here for one more season
Antonio needs go we need younger
Hi stel mate. Antonio has been a good servent to us but it is time for him to move on as i feel he wont get much starts under Lopetegui especially if we get a striker in. I have a question for you Stel. ok win or lose we are gonna finish 9th, So Would you rather us get a point from Man city and gift the title to the gooners or would you rather we get a thumping and deny the gooners the title?😅
Agreed I do think it’s time for Antonio to move on
As for Sunday… I never want our team to lose and wouldn’t want that to happen on Sunday
However, everyone is forgetting Everton in this equation. They also have a big say in what happens this weekend and, ironically, they’re the ones who might scupper Arsenal’s challenge for the premier league title than West Ham pulling off a miracle against Man City
Fair point mate. but it does hurt if we get a point and gift the gooners the title coz of it.hehehe
Stel Ivan toney is on arsenals radar toney in a west ham shirt yes please as I said before players from the u21s and a couple of central defenders van hecke from Brighton he's 23 or I like to call him van ankle and tosin adarabioyo from Fulham maybe
I think arsenal have cooled their interest on Toney but could be wrong
Tosin was apparently a target for us when he was still at Man City’s youth system - maybe now we might go for him and he’d be on a free
Van hecke would be interesting call
Antiono is 34 years old and should move on, he has been a great servant but is injury prone, unfortunately he has too many things going on his private life and commitment and the ability to be at his best for West Ham could be questioned. I understand he still has a year left on his contract but if he was not sold but kept as suggested he would be an expensive asset to retain as a super sub.
That’s a good point.. are West Ham the sort of club who could afford to keep £100k a week players on the bench?
I agree. If we need to progress as a club, we can’t be having Antonio as our main striker again next season. Credit to him for putting it in almost every game - he did have a spell where he looked like he couldn’t be bothered to be fair - but we aren’t gonna get anywhere relying on a 34-year-old player who isn’t even a striker to score our goals.
Good vid Stel - agree with many that Antonio's time is up and would be happy if he stayed as an impact sub, if that's not what he wants then he can leave.
Not sure about the two strikers you have reviewed - En-Neysri (26) has always said he is happy in Spain but they would like to off-load him rather then keep him, and Toney (28) thou a great striker has no sell-on value and would be expensive at 40m+ - would like more exciting younger striker in the mould of Jonathan David or Santiago Gimenez (both 23), if we really want to move forward
Hello mate … I’m sure there will be plenty of other strikers who will be linked to us. Agree that Toney will have no sell on value and the jury is out on en nesyri .. not sure he would have been my first choice when we were first linked to him a few years back
We really should be moving on from Antonio. We shouldn't be reliant on him anymore, not even as a sub. Whilst he is still here, he is going to take a place from someone more deserving like a youth player.
Plus, we desperately need to bring the age of our squad down.
Stay away from players like Zaha as well, please. And El nesri sounds like a liability.
I do agree will… with great respect to Antonio it’s time we moved on from him
Not overly keen on zaha
As for en nesyri maybe lopetegui can get a tune out of him
