0:30 You can actually see Johnson trying to shake out his wrist. It must have been giving him trouble and possibly going numb, especially because Unadilla was such a rough track. Terrible shame he couldn't get it repaired properly. Otherwise he would've had at least three more years of domination left in him. I would have loved to see how he dealt with JMB and how incredibly good he was. Personally, I think Johnson would have found a way to beat him, but it sure as Hell wouldn't have been easy.

JoJo Keller #46 had a 1990 CR500. Can be viewed at 34 seconds and 1 minute 2 seconds.

I think this was the first year of the Unadilla AMA National, and it was the most comfortable (temp/humidity-wise)of any race I ever attended there in 36yrs, GNCC's excluded. The '79 Trans-USA was OK too, just a little damp/chilly. If I remember, this race was in early October, don't know why they ran so late that year. I can remember Bradshaw's bike popping every time he picked up the throttle on the right hander after the old finish straight!

Yes 1st National since 1977 500 Nats. Nothing like old school Unadilla in fall. Trans Ams we’re usually first weekend in October, so weather was always a crap shoot

Any chance you have the 1988 Southwick motocross national on video? I can't find it anywhere and I really would like to see Pat Barton come within a half a lap from winning the first moto.

I respect these riders but they should be still and respect our flag and our anthem.

It is not the flag or the anthem that we should respect, but the philosophies that created the USA that the flag and anthem were symbols of.
No citizenry in the world today lives under the philosophies of individual liberty/free enterprise anymore. With no liberty to represent, our flag is just a lost piece of cloth with no meaning behind it.

Yep. When Ward Robinson died his kids got greedy and started running local races to cash in. Now it's just a burnt out piece of crap compared to what it used to be. I remember watching the riders going out for practice when the track still had three feet of grass on it. That was 1986 - my first year going to the 'Dilla. We camped out the night before and the partying was a thing of legend. Now it's like going to church. Those were the days.......

@@stkyfngrszmooth It is the other way around at Red Bud. In 1985 (my first year there), just some guys on the top of the hill were partying hard, having war with fireworks, and even burnt a car to a piece of charcoal, (not sure if it was a rental or not). But the rest of the hill side and the bottom we all families, and fans who were just hanging out, camping,---civil. Today, you get searched to get in, the local Police have an area in the middle of the hill, and that whole hillside is chaos. They won't even let the family and civil campers at the bottom go up there for a walk. I have no more interest being there. Animals. We used to be better people.

@@darylsmioth1904 It was only used once a year for the MXGP. That grass and the loam underneath was a thing of beauty.
