Delightfull, graceful, grandiose, opulent, majestic, celestial and divine! in short: Baroque!!
I love this opera. The music is spectacular, orchestral writing with a lot of counterpoint, vocal pyrotechnics and dramatic lyricism. It has some of the most brilliant arias that Handel ever composed, "venti turbini" "furie terribili" "lascia ch'io pianga", "cara sposa", duets, orchestral interludes, battaglia. Handel was without a doubt the best composer of operas and oratorios of the Baroque.
Händel der König des Barock!
I saw Fagioli singing “Venti, Turbini” and really wanted to see a female singing it. Couldn’t find a video of decent performance with good sound quality, so decided to look for it here. Given that this opera is infinite and I wouldn’t find my aria in here any other way, I decided to list all the movements once and for all, since apparently no one had the disposition to do so. =)
My recommendations: >> Di Speranza Un Bel Raggio Venti, Turbini 1:16:27
+1 thanks for this
Thank you :)
Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~
oh thank you so much for such work, it is helpful!
You, sir, are awesome!
What a great opera
jajajaaaaa, you little modest
I would say that this opera is the best one I have ever written.
Man, you have no videos
Majestueux !!
I don't know much about opera. My brother from my other mom said, go listen to the Rinaldo piece. Oh my Holly! Beautiful!
1:40:36 the most beautiful song ever. Lascia ch'io pianga.♥
listen to "ombra mai fu"
i came here just for that song
yes right !! Same here!
Listen to Sibilar gli angui and Furie terribili.
agree
even that im not handel expert
thank you from cooperstown
Bellissima!
just gorgeous! thank you!
Da Händel in meiner Heimatstadt, Halle/Saale geboren wurde, freuen mich die positiven Bewertungen hier in diesem Forum ganz besonders !!!
Superbe ....j'adore
Thank You! 💙💙💙💙💙🦩
25' 10" till 25' 32" wtf!!! 22 seconds straight of solid belting , that's unbelievable!
No one does it better than Händel in creating tunes so strikingly contemporary...
I totally agree
Nice 💋❤️
Me encanta la ópera barroca. Uff.!
Opera by a extremely brilliant 25 year old young man.
Davvero appagante
It's like being in Heaven. Long live Handel!
G.f.handel is heaven
Fantastic, moving to tears by "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" from 1:40:00. Kowtow, kowtow, kowtow... How could people manage to compose such heavenly music masterpiece 300 years ago??? Like this, like this to death!
the real question is why have we not learned to write real music today? It almost impossible to find a modern classical OR pop composer that can write a melody, or that has words that matter. Mozart said, "Prima la parola! La música segunda!" or something like that!
Lascia ch'io pianga... magnificient at 1:40:36...sung with such grace and sentiment that it draws tears. Overall maestro Jacobs demonstrates his superior mastery of this very rich opera by Haendel who made it his only Italian opera. The music is serving the voice as it should be and the tempo is restrained throughout. All voices are perfectly well cast and enjoyable but Miah Persson enchants here.
Patrick Memmi: Handel wrote many Italian operas.

Exactly more than 40 Italian operas, 32 dramatic oratorios, as well as operettas and serenades such as Acis & Galatea and Alexander's feast . He was the best composer of Baroque operas and oratorios, without a doubt.
Love IT ❤️ So beautiful
One of Handel's nicest opera's with a splendid performance
Inspiring performance bringing back memories - thank you
At 58:34 my most favorite piece: Cara sposa, amante cara....!
It's just my best aria for Farinelli "Il Castrato", obviously sang by Philippe
Jaroussky! Sublime. A voice that soothes my entire body and soul!
Speechless; bewildered, indeed!
omg seriously I am also in love with that aria since I discovered that film!
But Farinelli never sang it. He did never sing a Handel's opera, actually. Perhaps Senesino did
I actually trink that the vibrato is way too much
Really good! Great artist great orchestra
Generally I can't stand opera but anything from Handel........... (Forgive the poor English) Pure amazing!!!
What a way to start my Saturday morning
Hello, I was wondering what software you use to make these videos. I'm planning on uploading Handel's complete works, but the software that I'm presently using (an audio to video converter) has a limit of around an hour and thirty minutes, and obviously the operas and oratorios need much longer than that. Also if anyone here has good suggestions, please reply! It has to be compatible with Chrome.
fantastic! excellent!
This opera is about me
Energetically Brilliant or Brilliantly Energetic!
What's a great opera
Ein hoch auf Händel. Schöne alte Musik des Barockes.
06:22 The Orchestral arrangement here, the melody, got me hooked.
i love this opera
Rosie, it was 5 years ago when you write that comment, however it is still relevant. Love it too.
Eine wunderschöne Arie, und so unbekannt!
ATTO SECONDO starts at 1:21:07 - ATTO PRIMO ends with "Venti, turbini, prestate", not with "Vo'far guerra"!
2:22:25 ATTO TERZO
Did I hear Marilyn's lovely voice in the mist of greatness that is this album?
Great!
1:40:35 we all came here for this. Thank you, Lars.
Antichrist was hardly the sentiment intended by the composer methinks.
Armida, Queen of Damascus, Argante's mistress (and a mermaid) by Inga Kalna, soprano
Almirena, daughter of Goffredo (and a mermaid) by Miah Persson, soprano
2:02:54 : Ah crudel.
ATTO SECONDO:
1:21:09
Best performance I have heard, love it, but does anyone know where I can buy an original CD/DVD recording? This one is good but I'm sure there must be a better quality one somewhere? I have googled it obviously, but no luck....

1:16:28 Recit and Aria Venti turbini
great bassoon solo....
Is it René Jacobs himself filling in the small tenor role of the araldo at 20:26? I thought that was pretty funny and odd :)
+Luis Ortega Sadly No, It is Dominique Visse, a belgian countertenor
At home, coronavirus recommends this to me hhhh
gostei dessa opera
Pure at from 1:28:00 onwards.
And 1:48:00 too!
So beautiful. My heart is melting.
How can I find a cast list for this opera (or any other on UA-cam for that matter)?
Handel one of the 3 apex composers.

At what moment is the 'aria almirena'?
1:40 or so - if you mean the Lascia Ch'io Pianga aria
I've just come here to hear "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" :O
M
HOGWOOD's version is my favorite. Except Cecilia Bartoli
In fact CB ruins it for me.
Or la tromba is definitely too slow, it makes it sound not much like a triumph. And not a very good idea of using the recorders alone in some of the ouverture solos, they are extremely weak and barely audible, and the ouverture looses all its heroic character: leaving the solos to the violins would have been a much better solution, maybe doubled by the oboes.
a remarkable piece by handel, even that there's a tendency for stereotyping basing in the religion, like, the christian characters are the heroes, while the pagans are portrayed as villains who, in the end of the opera, abdicate their beliefs to follow what society considered "right" (christianity). My point is, all relligions are tolerable and people have the right to stand for different beliefs. this is the only thing that bothers me in the opera, but well, we must consider we were in the XVIII century europe, and the opera is about the Crusades Holy War. What I thik is that art mirrors history many times.
Why not just sit down, relax and enjoy. What a wonderful opera!
Anaïs Lekapene I agree with you...
It is based on Tasso's "Jerusalem Delivered" -he was Italy's second greatest poet.In those times there were major conflicts of civilizations -everyone attacked and invaded everyone else.
Nicht aus jedem Vielfraß wird ein Komponist.
wernertrptube Na, aus Ihnen ganz bestimmt nicht!
was das für nen scheiß?!
