The Aquastar Benthos 500 is back, and it's brought the centrally mounted chronograph into the 21st century. Aquastar is an historic dive watch brand, and since their return in 2020, this is the diver we've been waiting for. Simple and classic … Beautiful!
This is a really cool release. I'm glad they were able to work with LJP to create a central seconds chrono. I hadn't seen a video review of this yet, so big props for getting video. I find video really helpful when evaluating a watch that may not be readily available for hands on time.
Good review! You covered the history and the watch in reasonable time. Well done. Tired of overly looooong reviews.

This video was unlisted so hard to find. Glad I had seen it on IG. Great to see a video on UA-cam on this new Benthos 500 Founders Edition. This is my best dive watch purchase so far for 2024!
There's another great video about this watch on a channel called "Watch A Watch". Looks like it was just posted today.
@@jlg395 Saw that come up and its longer full review at 15 minutes.

@@TheDeepTrack Thank you for the written review!
I’m glad Aquastar is back.
Love to see it
Got mine in the mail today 😊 it does wear great for a larger watch! Awesome looking but yes loud rotor for sure.
Awesome! Congrats and enjoy it
Send it back... it's only 200 depth rating
@@splootanyou dive deeper than that?
@steves8322 not the point, do you want your Ferrari... to be the real deal!? Or you just happy with the Prancing horse 🐎 on the car bonnet of your Volvo...
Rotor sound is nearly in-audible on mine. If you get your ear to it, it’s there for sure but otherwise, normal wearing for the day, haven’t heard it once.
Great watch. Definitely a collector’s piece that’ll be going for $6,000 on eBay this time next year.
I've been wearing mine for the last 3 weeks or so. It does wear nicely for a larger watch. It does what it set out to do and I love the timing central minutes chronograph function. To improve this model Aquastar would need to figure out how to place a running seconds in a sub-dial like they do on on their Deepstar II and then have a central seconds hand along with their central minutes hand so you could time both minutes and seconds with the chronograph. Of course this would be an entirely new watch but one I would love to see in the future.
Congrats on snagging one! Agree, would love to see them tackle alternate layouts here or take the concept in new directions.
Calling it a Benthos 500.. with only a depth rating of 200.. is like trying to justify a Leather jacket made out of Polyester 😂
Great watch, but what is up with the nonstop music and rushed presentation? This review felt really weird.
Noted, thanks for the feedback.
I’m glad it was short and to the point.
No, I've never heard of it. This is definitely a tool watch! Not much of a looker. Just a big square block of steel. I'm sure for vintage dive watch enthusiasts, this will have a lot of appeal.
not sure where they got the pricing from, but that is way too much for what it is
The watch was roughly $2,500 for the first month of its release, which of course was an absolute bargain. Now that it’s about $3,500, it’s still an incredible deal for a limited edition central minutes chrono with a bespoke movement.
What price would you give it?
