I love the video. Good info and well done. The end was priceless! =)
The reason mixture number 3 worked best is that the detergent works as a surfactant (a wetting agent). Basically, it breaks up the surface tension of the liquid so it will cover the surface of what you are spraying with a sheet of the liquid and help it cling instead of beading up and rolling off. Dawn works very will because it breaks up the natural oils of the plant. For longer lasting effects on spot treatments (like weeds in the driveway cracks) try putting a pinch of salt at the base of the plant you are trying to kill.

Not sure how to beat that ending.......great!! I recently have begun using the vinegar, salt and Dawn combo with great results. Works better than I thought it would and much cheaper than the commercial stuff.

Today I tried the vinegar, Epsom salt and dishwash soap idea. I sprayed around 10:00 AM and by 12:00 the majority of the weeds were definatly dying, not all, but most. Recommended.

I've tried this solution with great success. What the person neglected (or just ignorant of) to tell everyone is that you need to do this on a sunny day. The sun reacts with the vinegar, salt and soap and literally burns the weeds to death. I have targeted Canadian Thistles specifically using just these three items mixed together and certainly NOT in the amount that was mentioned. I only need to spray the weed and in a few hours the weed is brown and shriveling up.

The soap acts as a surfactant and helps the solution stick to the plant. That's all it does. Worked pretty well for me.

That 4th mix works best, because it's much easier to spread, cheaper per sq. ft. and you don't even need to buy a sprayer. With this method of dispersion, the killer will spread to all parts of your lawn with little effort. It can be so much cheaper too because if you have life insurance, your spouse and or kids will have enough money pay someone else to worry about weeds.

To kill all vegetation in walkways, driveways and other areas where you don’t want any living thing to grow again, mix two cups ordinary table salt with one gallon of white vinegar. I get good results in driveways using, Salt brine (30 pounds of ground rock salt to 10 gallons of water) has given good control if persistently used, either sprayed on the leaves or saturating the soil about the roots after cutting off the tops of the plants. If new growth appears, repeat the treatment at intervals of two weeks. You need to use 1 quart of concentrated salt solution per each line between concrete blocks of driveway.

Hey, I don't want to be offensive by any means, I like what you're doing and I agree the freedom to obtain independence is very important!
So I did some research looking for a plant (Neem seems to be promising) I could grow myself to create a HOMEMADE(a preparation I can personally perform with common household tools) and NATURAL(grown from nature/ a product of nature) pesticide/herbicide.
With those meanings of those words in mind, I would like to kindly point out that none of the methods shown were really 'natural' or 'homemade'.
The fact is- these 'weed' killers were made of resources secured and prepared away from all of their consumers, creating- DEPENDANCY!
Also the mixtures and chemicals used here can kill more things than just weeds and pests, so it's not like I could go put vinegar in my sprouting carrots to 'do the weeding for me'
All that aside I'm sure there was positive intention and the creator of this video was only meaning to educate and experiment with online advice, so I want to make it clear I support what this human is doing- learning from experience.
Just one last thing- If you stop buying, they stop supplying.
TO BE INDEPENDENT ALL I NEED IS-
    SECURE FOOD
    SECURE WATER
RESPECT FOR THE SERENITY OF NATURE
I know I have at least ONE of those, do YOU?
Maybe we can all find the rest together??

Funny ending but you're right about it not really being accurate. I've used actual herbicide and you don't always see it work overnight. To be fair, you could use vinegar and it might work in a few days (I'm not saying this is the case since I'm on here trying to find an alternative) but I think I'll give it a go. Vinegar is cheaper lol.

I appreciate the work here, but I would have preferred seeing it specifically on weeds instead of established grass. And my concern with these solutions is salt destroying my sprayer. Spraying is no good, you need a watering can and just liberally water the weeds like you would ordinary plants.

Well it works by rapidly dehydrating the plant so it has its best effect when warm because it doubles the effect because the heat helps too. This dehydrates it so much so fast that it can't recover. You won't get a natural weed killer that kills by chemical reaction as far as I know.
