Question Jereme, is there an advantage to using the lathe when removing material from the bottom of the cylinder? It seems like a man could tool up a cylinder on the mill easier, and perhaps be more accurate because you wouldn’t have to contend with the spark plug placement, etc.
Hi Doug, So, if the cylinder doesn't have skirt lands on it and was flat on the bottom, a mill would be ideal. With the mandrel that Hopper usually uses to center up the cylinder a lathe can also square up the cylinder to the gasket surface with out having to do a lot of adjusting. I think there is higher accuracy with the lathe with minimal effort.
@@jeremywever6947 but you could easily work around the skirt lands with a mill, no? Also you could set a mill to take off what you needed in one pass unlike a lathe. I don’t know🤷🏻♂️ I’ve used both machines, just never anything like a cylinder, so you may be correct. But it seems like setup and accuracy would easier with a mill, although Hopper makes it look easy with his lathe🤣
@@IndianaDoug sure you could do it with one pass on the lathe, but what if the bit breaks and dives into your work.....oh been there.... If that is all you have you could do it with a vertical mill. Having worked with both operations, the lathe is going to be the easiest, fastest way. There are a hundred different ways you could machine it. No one way that is right or wrong. Just look how fast Hopper took .012" off, was it 5 minutes? 👍🏼
Hey BellHopper , can you port a Shindaiwa 600sx as i had a custom 32in Cannon Roller Tip bar made for it . If so i will ship the Saw to you an that bar an afterwards test it

Great video BellHopper! I’m getting ready to port and tune a 7-10 Mac and a 550 Homelite. Any advice? Thanks and stay awesome!
I didn't understand the reason for raising the exhaust port roof? Is it for timing?
