I know this isn’t a lesson about the tune Vertigo, but thank you for showing everyone how to play Vertigo! This will very much be a time saver for learning the correct fingering!
Great video - I like Point 7 in particular. Sometimes I have given up on difficult pieces as they are taking a long time to learn and I get distracted with other tunes in the meantime - so I think another point for me is 'stay focused'.
Great video Eli! If I may add something. If a person has developed a degree of expertise in some other aspect life, some of the same principals can be applied to learning music. Something as simple as driving a car around pylons, for an example; if you focus on your destination rather than the pylons your transition through the pylons will be much smoother and without a mishap. 👍
Eli, you are right on with all your points. Everything you said can be applied to other instruments (Mandolin, guitar, ..). You make me want to pick up a banjo and learn. But I am a mandolin player ;-). A big Thank You and keep the videos coming.
What an amazing video this is gonna help me a lot. I’m practicing single string a lot the left hand is ok it’s the right hand. Getting speed is what I’m working on but I do practice it a lot really slow. Thank you so much
Well I'll be, your right! I'm working on day 9 of your 30 day banjo. And using the metronome app really got my speed up in a very short amount of time. Edit: It seems to be getting my right hand accuracy much better also. I keep looking at the metronome instead of my hands.
Where to start? Been practicing basic rolls and it gets boring not to mention not knowing if I'm doing this correct? Even trying to learn and use left hand fingers many times get on two strings as though fingers are to big/thick. Is there a trick or just comes with practice?

Just rewatched this! So helpful! Thanks Eli!

Great video man. Good philosophy on growth (musical or otherwise). Nice of you to put that tab in the beginning even though it wasn't a lesson video

Will do, thanks Francois!
So very helpful, really appreciate the approach you provide and suggestions you give. Learned a lot from you on this video. Thanks Eli
Great transcription! Interesting that you tabbed it in 4/4, I hear it pretty clearly in 5 (in 5/8, or 5/4 like how you grouped sections A and B).

TENSION Ahhhhh
I'm not sure I can use this for my playing. I don't play past the fifth fret.

It really just comes down to practice. Keep at it and you'll get it!👍👍
