I hated this scene when I first saw it. It's like the devs way of saying you're not seeing Pyrrha again, ever. I honestly think Pyrrha should make another appearance, even as a ghost (not just a memory). they have to make reference to the fact that she's alive in the afterlife and still has an important part to play. All her talk of Destiny and the epic theme music associated with it would go to waste if they just ignore her in the future. upvote if you agree! we need to get this message across to the developers (copy paste this message everywhere)

When i think of pyrrha i always be ignoring the fact that she died, and always believe she will be back somehow.
There is the relic of choice too she might come back with it.
@@solowolf5702 I mean she is the human version of a phoenix a lot of people seem to forget that and she turned to ash... like a phoenix and they're supposed to rise from the ashes so if they manage to gather all the relics they could potentially bring her back but the gods might not allow bringing back all the people who died because you know what happened last time someone wanted that but who knows Jaune is someone pure of heart and so was Pyrrha so there's probably an exception in there somewhere but that means we won't see her again most likely until near the very end when they've gathered all the relics so she might only be seen in the last few episodes or volume also if she's revived she's probably not going to be as strong as everyone else and she'll need new weapons and armor
For me it was the look on Jaune's face when he saw the statue. Before the camera even revealed who it was I knew and I was SOBBING.
I saw the red petal and I'm like Ruby. And then I saw Jaune look and at that time I beat Niagara Falls

Mia Nguyen If my home is beyond lost I will not go back to it. It may hurt but you must cut losses when needed. Fighting for something you believe in doesn’t make it right. Just ask the Nazis. There was no chance of victory and going back to be slaughtered was a very poor choice. I’m all for going back if there was a chance but there wasn’t one given the variables at play. There is no shame in regrouping and living to fight another day. She could have been useful given the fights our heroes have been caught in. Don’t @ me. Not looking for a flame war.

God, Pyrrha's death hits me harder every time. She was just so noble, up until the bitter end. She sacrificed herself for her team, her friends, her family. She had so much to live for, but she chose to put herself on the front lines, to shield those loved ones, even at her own expense. It's so painful but I think what she wanted was to sacrifice herself so that others could keep on going, keep on living. Rest in peace, Pyrrha Nikos. You'll always be our forever fall.

I almost got over Pyrrhas death. Until they slapped the Statue in this Episode. I don't know if i should be sad or happy...
I say be happy, because live or die, she fought for what she believed in to the very end. That's how Pyrrah would want to be remembered: not for her skills as a warrior, but for her resolve -to fight- to protect everything she loved.
I'm still pretty unhappy about it. Pyrrhas death was such a blow to the heart. She was my all time favorite character in the series, that is of course aside from Nora but..it just sucks really wish they hadn't killed her but it is good for story that she died I guess..

What I truly love outside of the closure for Jaune, is both Ren and Nora acknowledging his pain. And staying how much HE means to them. Especially Ren, a character of few but very profound words, when he says we don't want to lose you too.

Nora telling Jaune they love him chokes me up every single time. This kind of stuff hits so close to home. I love team RWBY, but JNPR /JNR feels far more relatable, at least in my eyes.

I whole heartedly believe this was the show's producers finally acknowledging just how beloved Pyrrah was by the fanbase. It took a while. But we got there eventually. Not only did it give Jaune some closure, but also closure to the fanbase.
I really love that this rather than anything else is where Jaune makes peace with the events of the fall of Beacon. Not by killing Cinder, not by going out in a blaze of glory... but in a quiet moment of reflection.
Phyra fought Cinder not because she hated her, or wanted to destroy her, but to protect Jaune and everyone else in Beacon. Jaune has been so consumed by revenge, guilt and self loathing... if they'd tried resolving his trauma in a fight with Cinder, it would have been a terrible ending for his character; to validate the way he'd been treating himself.
To have him come face to face with her mother, the person with the most reason to blame him and hate Cinder, and instead be reminded of how wonderful their time together was... but most importantly, how much it meant to BOTH of them.
Phyra was of course an incredibly motivational and supportive figure for Jaune, but Jaune was also there for Phyra in ways he never knew: he was the one person besides Ren and Nora who treated her honestly without any sense of pretension or worship, who saw her for who she truly was.
I'd like to imagine Phyra writing home about her time with team JNPR to her Mum. In that scenario, it would make perfect sense for her Mum to notice how positive an impact Jaune, Ren and Nora were having on her daughter's life.
Being able to show that to Jaune in particular here and have him really hear it and accept it is a powerful trope breaker: in shows like RWBY so often that point of resolution is focused on revenge or forgiveness of the antagonist in question. Having Jaune understand Phyra's motivations, accept them and make peace with her fate simply through quiet introspective conversation is more powerful a statement than maybe even the writers realised, and I will always be here for it.
Not sure if you've caught up to the latest Volume, but uh... I wouldn't be so sure about the "making peace" bit for Jaune.
@@DavidMadrigalHernandez I think you're right about that; it was naive of me to believe this would be the end of Jaune's recovery, people aren't that simple.
That being said, I don't think I was entirely wrong. I think this moment more than anything else gave Jaune the understanding of why Pyhra did what she did. That it was her choice, because it was the only way to be who she always wanted to be. Jaune will probably never stop trying to blame himself for not saving those around him, but that doesn't mean he always will.
Either way, from this point onwards Jaune is always trying to save more people rather than avenge the people he couldn't save. Even if he still doesn't know how to bear that burden... he's bearing the RIGHT burden, if that makes any sense? At least, that's the way it looks to me.

I just wanted to point out that, given what we saw over the course of Volume 9 (particularly episode 7), that he STILL carries absolutely everything, Pyrrha's loss included. Tho admittedly, it's also fair to say that even tho he's not carrying such weight in a healthy manner, it is a sign that he means well and held the people he carries the burden of in very high regard.

I was hoping for Jaune to just break down and start crying saying how much he misses her and that he realized that he loved her too late. That if she was here she would know what to do and that it should have been her to survive and not him. Regardless this was a powerful and emotional scene. Miss you Pyrrha.
Well it shows development for Jaune that he knew that no matter what could've happened should have, it didn't, and he accepted that fact and managed to carry on knowing that, whereas if he broke down it would have showed he had never grown

Miles pulled this off perfectly, tbh, I always loved Jaune, I loved his story of learning from one of the best, his story of regret, and now the beginning of his new story of moving on

No matter how much time passes I always fall apart when I watch Pyrrha's death. Pyrrha's character impossible to forget. Monty was a genius and the world became a much darker place without him.
I don't think I've ever loved a show like I love RWBY, or had such attachment to their characters. Losing Pyrrha was heartbreaking, and this scene... this one got me. This scene was so important for so many reasons, I think. It's some closure for her team, and for us as viewers. But more than that, it shows us her loss to the world. Pyrrha was the best, hands down THE best huntress in training, and better than most fully fledged huntsmen and huntresses (though I honestly struggle to think of any that are better than she was). The world knew that, and this scene was a good way of showing it.
Pyrrha was a lot of things to this show and its fans. She was a mentor, a friend, a beloved character, and above all else, a huntress.
Haha rwby was my first anime, I love it, it will always have a special place in my heart
what really got me was nora and ren reminding jaune that they care about him just as much as they cared for pyrrha. I was already tearing up but that made me actually start crying.
It hurts you so deep knowing that after all this time, that despite nobody blaming him directly for her death...Jaune would rather be dead if it meant she would still be there. It's sad to see him because you know he has been carrying that with him for all that time, just, eating him up inside u_u

@@eduardosacasa5007 I think that is something similar to what Monty Oum would have actually done. IF he had in fact killed her off like the other guy that took over after he died. I don't think Monty had originally planned to kill her off though. And they just butchered the series after he passed away. And made it take a total 180 from the direction that Monty has originally wanted it to go. Don't expect the people running that show now to do something similar though. That is just my personal opinion though.

From a writing standpoint it would be very stupid to change it up and have an important character die. It wouldn't be lazy and instead would be even more work for the team, especially without Monty around.
Pyrrah's death is one thing I am certain Monty intended to happen for a long time.

When he died,RWBY kinda did as well in my mind. I honestly just stopped watching the show seriously after season 3. And after that #kickvic bullshit and them firing him,I dropped RoosterTeeth and RWBY altogether. And I don't intend to ever watch anymore RWBY or RoosterTeeth shows ever again either. And if I want to actually watch anymore RWBY,I will just go back and watch the 1st-3rd season I have on DVD.
Well. Think about it. He was so obsessed with Whise who had zero interest in him. all well having this smart, strong, pretty woman totally infatuated with him, and he didn't notice it. And when he Finally did notice it. She was gone... You'd probably have some regret there too. I'm still totally hoping she made it some how, that it was all a cruel thing Cinder was trying to do to Ruby and she wasn't killed. Or that she'll somehow come back and the first thing she'll say is "Hello again." like nothing ever happened. because that would be a storybook ending.

I guaran-fucking-tee you that their music would be WAY bigger if she either got singing lessons or was just flat out replaced. If you seriously can't tell she's tone deaf compared to literally any other professional female vocalist, then idk what to tell you.
As emotional as it is, I always appreciate the Pyrrha scenes because they're not only a reminder of how she impacted the cast, but also they're a reminder that it's a parallel to Monty's death and how it's affected/is affecting us, and how creators like the RT crew are continuing his legacy, and creators and fans are continuing their own paths, and the cast are continuing their missions, because there was a symbol to them--to us--to keep moving forward.
and that's why ret-conning pyrrha coming back would suck, wouldn't it? rwby gets lots of shit, ruby has seemed a bit too shonen protagonistic in the last 2 volumes, some fans (who admittedly probably didn't understand why he existed in the first place, but still) are upset with adam/the white fang arc/the handling of bmblb, among other things, as much as i love it in fanfiction, and as much as when she first died, i would have really wanted it, bringing pyrrha canon wise would sorta spit that idea, which, granted, it'll never happen. but still, feels bad that pyrrha was basically the only major character protagonist death that means something.

@@willnelson9906 while I’m not for Pyrrha coming back for say volume 9, I’m also not against it, it just kinda depends on how RT would do it, if it’s something small like a spirit of her on the island after volume 8, or as a flashback, that’s ok, cause it doesn’t majorly impact her or anyone else’s story in any way, but if it’s like “oh she’s suddenly back to life!!” Yeah that’s a big nope, her death was a symbol, a key moving point in the series, showing that not everything is a fairytale, without her death, ruby would never have found out about her silver eyes, so for RT to hit us with that (if they do it) that’s basically just toying with our emotions and retcons her whole arc and death, and would likely piss nearly every fan off to no end. Again, I’m not against the idea of her coming back, it just depends on how RT does it, and hopefully, one day, Pyrrha and everyone else have the reunion they deserve.

I hate that they killed Pyrrha off the way they did, but I also understand that in a way it was necessary to unlock Ruby's true abilities. Still hurts when I think about it. They made her too much of a loveable character, and took her away in a second. 😢

Tbh, Pyrrhas death was kind of foreseeable. She was a character with very few flaws and a complete champion of a fighter. A prodigy. There really wasn’t a lot of area for her character to grow. She was, in a lot of ways, perfect. Her dying works way better for plot and character development then her staying alive. As much as her dying sucks.

Going into Vol 7 with all of these familiar faces coming back, I had to take a moment to remember one of the most precious characters who deserved so much more than she got.

This scene is really good and hits you right in the feels. I just kind of wish Ruby was also around. She, like Jaune, also felt that failing to save Pyrrha was one of her greatest failures, if not THE greatest failure. However, I understand why they wanted just Jaune (and JNPR's surviving members as well).
Jaune was her partner, arguably one of her best friends, her student, and the man she fell in love with, who realized her feelings too late to act on them, and he unintentionally pushed her into the chain of events that culminated in her untimely and brutal death. He never properly finished her training regime, and nearly got himself and Weiss killed during the Battle of Haven by Pyrrha's murderer, and now that he knows his Semblance of charging others' Auras to the point that he's pretty much a combat medic, Jaune is wondering what Pyrrha would say to him, now, but due to her death, can't get an answer.
This was a personal scene and something that I wanted to happen in my personal list of things I wanted to see in Volume 6: him meeting someone, most likely related to Pyrrha, and talking about the impact of her death. His line where he says "She should be standing here", meaning that he would have rather died in her place, in literally ANYONE'S place as long as it meant she didn't die... it kind of hits you in the gut, especially if you kind of started considering him the Scrappy of the main cast since the end of the Vale trilogy (that he KNOWS that fans think he kind of doesn't deserve to continue surviving the events of the series since he's still rather low level, and his relationship with Pyrrha indirectly led to her death). He's been acknowledging the fact that he's probably one of, if not THE, least liked member of the main heroes for his weakness as a fighter and his death seeker attitude since Volume 3 that puts everyone in danger, and he'd probably be better off dead if it meant the other members of the cast were allowed to survive.
He needed someone to tell him, especially his teammates and especially someone implied to be related to Pyrrha, that "It's okay you're still here when she [Pyrrha] is not, people still care about you and want you to keep going". Jaune needed this moment that he gets told that he is still loved. If Jaune managing to save Weiss' life during the Battle of Haven didn't manage to save Jaune from being considered a Scrappy (it might not have considering how just the episode prior to this he lashed out at Oscar because of Ozpin and how they're probably doomed to losing, which kind of didn't sit right with some fans (atop of Qrow joining him in Scrappydom for punching Oscar in retaliation of Ozpin's actions and lies and spending half of this Volume being virtually nothing more than a complainer and drunkard to RUBY'S disgust)), I feel this may have done the trick in saving Jaune from being a Scrappy.
And if this scene didn't save Jaune in some fans' eyes from being a hated character, I don't think anything will at this point save for a heroic sacrifice. I'm hoping it doesn't come to Jaune getting killed off to give him something akin to respect.

Other examples of these in RWBY are Whitley Schnee (in Volume 4) for his tricking of Weiss to the point Weiss got herself written out of their father’s will, Jacques Schnee for his physical and emotional abuse of his children, wife, and even Atlas and Faunus-kind all for his own profit, and Cardin Winchester (in the Vale trilogy) for his bullying behavior towards Velvet and Jaune and even trying to get Jaune to get Pyrrha attacked by dangerous insects for her showing him up in class.

It's really bizarre, I watched these when they first came out, and when this moment came, yes I felt sad, but strangely I didn't feel as sad as I thought I would be, I loved this character, I loved everything about her arc and story, but really her story felt right to close. However, I stopped looking at it through "I wish Pyrrha was alive" and started looking it as Jaune's Guilt. When I started looking at it like this it really made me cry, I knew what was going to happen, I knew why this scene was placed in the show, I knew everything, however, it felt so surreal that I felt this emotional over a moment that I already knew about, not because of surprise, but because I have gone through enough of life to understand even the smallest fraction of the guilt Jaune feels.

galaktic boiii I think by the end of the series there will be some sort of direct interaction between the now deceased Pyrrha (F in the chat) and Jaune, most likely due to some sort of Relic magic. I think it will be somthing along the lines of Pyrrha’s spirit empowering Jaune in his moment of need or a final resolution between their relationship that would end in Jaune letting go of Pyrrha and moving on.
Either way i don’t think she is gonna get resurrected fully or permanently. I’m a believer that their confrontation will occur right before or right after Jaune’s death and will end with the two of them being reunited that way but I feel that would probably be too cliche for RT to actually follow through with.

This scene had so much emotion. I think Monty would be proud. This story had so much passion and emotion, and I am so happy that it’s still going. This scene reminded me of when Ruby was talking to the professor about why he’s a huntsman. There is so much power in scenes like this. Monty's legacy is in good hands

I could'nt agree more, I was surpised to see Miles and kerry hire new writers to help with the load moving forward but in a good way. But I can certainly tell they've gotten really good themselves, not flawless but each volume they've just kept improving more and more. 7 and 8 were amazing in terms of quaility.

This is one of the best scenes in my opinion as it show the team view one another like family even though they all come from different backgrounds they view one another as equals and Pyrrha was in my opinion one of the best characters of the entire anime series she made the ultimate sacrifice by giving her life in the anime to protect others even when she knew she wouldn’t survive that fight yet still went knowing what was coming was her death that’s the ultimate form of courage being prepared to do an action knowing you will die just to ensure the survival of those around you without fear or hesitation with no regret for your choice.

I have a theory about this whole Phyrra dying thing that I find interesting and would like to share with everyone.
If you recall among the 4 relics one is a crown and it grants the power of Choice. I'm not sure yet what this power entails but there is a lot of evidence to support my theory that Phyrra actually has had the relic of Choice all this time.
Agree with me or not here are the pieces that I believe link this idea together.
1. When Phyrra died, all of her body and equipment were vaporized except for the crown that she wore. You can argue that it is symbolic but it is rather odd nontheless that everything was vaporized except for that crown. It is my belief that the metal that Jaune used to buff his own gear came from her shield and sword which was strewn around the battlefield during her fight with Cinder and not this crown. So right now the crown's whereabouts are unknown at the moment.
2. Phyrra literally from all the footage I've seen at least, has never removed the crown. It is always on her person. Not to mention, her semblance allows her to control metallic objects which would definitely help with keeping the crown on her person at all times.
3. We do not know the true outcome of the battle at Beacon because we only saw it from Ruby's perspective. There could be much more at work behind the scenes of that event that happened after she fell unconscious from using her silver eyes.
4. There is a significantly strong theme both in this encounter with Jaune near the statue and during the unwinnable fight against Cinder that revolves around the concept of Choice.
5. Hiding the crown not in the vault but in plain sight would be a genius move by Ozpin. Ozpin is the only one who seems to have known what the relics looked like before Jinn revealed it to others. He told Salem about the relics and their locations but I doubt she or her henchmen actually know what they look like on sight.
6. I believe there to be a strong connection between Jaune and Phyrra just like with Ozpin and Salem in the past. It is just a theory at this point but it is possible that an event and situation similar to the reincarnation by choice and need for resurrection may yet again occur. In other words, history may repeat itself.
The woman that talked with Jaune near the statue could be Phyrra herself based on this idea of mine. It really depends on what the Crown of Choice has as far as its powers are concerned. It is even possible she may have been given the same ultimatum as Ozpin was given when talking to the God of Light and chose to be able to reincarnate or another choice of some sort.
TLDR : my theory is simply that Phyrra isn't dead but instead knowningly or unknowningly used the Crown of Choice in her possession to survive in some way.

First off. It may be that Juan used the crown as part of the new metal for his gear. The shield does have the motif of it at the bottom
Second. Ozpin wouldn't let it out in the open(the crown) since it attracts grim to it.
Side note. We do see pyhra putting her crown on just before the crdl fight. That means shecwasnt wearing it before
Third that Never more went straight for Pyrha at the tournament over groups of people in the stands.
Fourth. She grew up in the only heavily fortified settlement outside of a kingdom.
Fith. Destiney to her was an ultimate goal that some one set for them selves a Choice that they had made to guide their life
One quick thought I've been rolling around is that penny needs a new soul if they are to rebuild her and what better way to make up killing her then to pair her soul with her body. Quick question, what was pennies semblance?
This is a nice theory, but I don't think it works. Pyrrha knew nothing about the Maidens or the relics and every indication we have is that her armor was entirely her own. If Ozpin just happened to give her a crown to wear that just happened to match the rest of her armor, I'm sure she would have mentioned it at some point. I think that Pyrra is dead and will remain that way precisely because her death was so noble and so significant to the show. In addition, we know in Vol 6 that Salem ends up becoming what she is because she will not accept the necessity and inevitability of losing someone she loves; to bring Pyrra back would seem to undermine that lesson. This being said, there is something that I am puzzled by that speaks to the possibility that more is going on with Pyrra: at the start of Vol 4, Ruby is having a dream, where she hears Pyrra's conversation with Cinder about destiny. There is no way that Ruby could have heard that, so it raises a question about why that conversation is rattling around in her head. The fact that Pyrra started getting the Maiden's powers just before Cinder intervened may have something to do with this. Also, the leaf leading Jaun to the statue suggests Pyrra's ghostly presence; or it could simply be poetic and fateful. But, bottomline, I don't think that Pyrra is coming back, as sad as that makes me. To bring her back would cheapen her death. But I do hope we get some sign that she is happy, wherever she is.
Of all the lessons I’ll have to teach, the one I hope to never have to is the first explanation of death. But it will happen, sadly.
I pray for those past, and those who have grieved and are still grieving.
You all should too.
