It's great to see someone else try to take on the big budget boys, but this seems to be a work in progress. The problem is Nike and Adidas spend fortunes to ensure they make brilliant shoes and it's hard for the upstarts to be able to get a foothold. I'm sticking with Takumi Sen, but certainly not adverse to Kiprun in future.
I bought the first one, kd900x, to see what it was like, little cushioning or bounce, more a 5k/10k shoe, tbh I haven't used it much although did get5k & 4 mike pbs in them. Guessing they've had to make some compromises to keep the cost down, will keep an eye out when I'm in Decathlon for any I can try on. Is the low heel thing like the NB 1080 v11? That had a low heel cushion/pad on it that seemed odd at first but got used to it pretty quick
I’ve got the first one too, I definitely agree it’s much more of a 5k and 10k shoe. It’s surprisingly aggressive. I remember they launched it with a blistering HM time but I couldn’t remotely imagine running that far in them.
Thanks Ed. I'd never heard of them, so looked them up, Decathlon owned, trying to break into the 'premium' running market at the more affordable end, good luck to them. I'm sure others will do the same as me so sending you the shoe will work in increasing brand awareness. A tough market to break into, but On did it.
I recently got these. They're so incredibly comfortable. Is wearing these daily/outside of running inadviseable? Will the absorption quality from the VFoam diminish meaningfully over time?
I wish Decathlon was more successful in the US, I have some gear from their earlier efforts to expand here that has held up incredibly well, especially in light of the price.
I tried this shoe on at the London Marathon/Running show and i thought they were really impressive especially when comparing them to RC Elite/Endorphin Pro 4!
Best budget super shoe I have is the Saucony Ride 15 for a little over £50 in a sale and ran London marathon in them last year. They may not have a carbon plate, but they are super for me 👍🏼
French athlete Méline Rollin ran the 2023 Amsterdam marathon in these shoes with a 2h26'55" PB. At the time it was the 4th best time for a French female athlete.
Anyone know when the Puma deviate nitro elite 3 comming out? Version 2 just worked for me. I hope Nike will take back the Vaporfly 3 after running 25 miles. can't get my ankle not to hurt when I run in them.
Very few can rock it like the killer when he is really wond up..as you say, I wonder when the piano is gonna just blow up under the pounding..I've seen him pounding the keyboard with his feet ..1 of the greatest showman of the greatest era of rock music..
The real problem is, at least in my country, Decathlon only sells crappy-super low budget running shoes in stores. These ones are available on paper (website maybe..), and you can't try them unless you order one pair and eventually return them if don't fit; pretty frustrating and time consuming. I'd better spend few bucks more and get proven brands I trust, hopefully with a discount code and/or outlet price...
Be interested to see your thoughts on the new Atreyu carbon plate. The Artist was a really fun shoe and only cost about £120 including shipping and taxes
@@EDDBUD agreed, I bought a hooded Path Projects running top - with a watch window in the long sleeve - and loved it. Went to buy another a few months later and it was basically double the price and was hastily removed from the basket!
I recently discovered decathlons apparel and I'm quite annoyed I left so much money at Nike while the stuff at Decathlon is just as good and about half the price.
For a while, Decathlon tried to infiltrate the USA in a town near me, Emeryville. There were sent packing back to Europa after maybe a year. The running shoes they had at the time were unimpressive at best, but the other running gear was decent, especially the clothes. Decathlon is puzzling; they copy and improve clothes and gear, but the running shoes are always falling short.
03:42 you're right about these type of carbon plated shoes is not meant for every day run cos the soles it worn out fast, if you want....get 2 or 3 pairs
Decathlon usually isn't bothered too much about esthetics, but this shoe looks nice. Perhaps they've sacked the ex- East German cold war design team responsible for Dec's products...
Looks like only available up to a UK 12 and that seems to be an adidas/Hoka/New Balance type UK size so UK 11.5 equivalent in say a Nike shoe. So no luck for the likes of FOD Runner & myself. A narrow shoe might well have perked my interest.
It does feel like with all the money they're throwing at running that one day Kiprun might just release an absolute banger, but maybe they're not quite there just yet. How are we gonna find a Bo Derek look-alike in Peckham? If it had been Bo Diddley we’d have been laughing!
I’ve got a pair of the original Kiprun KD900X from when they launched them around 2 years ago. I bought them purely for curiosity with zero expectations. For the money I thought they were perfectly good BUT the big problem I have with them is how high they are around the ankle, especially at the sides. After any run in them I have a lot of pain and abrasion around the ankles. At some point I plan to perform surgery on the shoe and see if I can improve things.
@@RegenTonnenEnte Absolutely just purely coincidental. It's also just coincidental that they look like Nike Alphafly, Vaporfly and even have a shoe they call the "2oomx alfafly 4%" I bet Nike stole their design from them.
@@EDDBUDgreat balls of fire, thank you for the memories….a younger version of myself used to play that. I was the only pupil playing boogie woogie at the end of year concert 😂
I like your reviews and I'm a subscriber, but after watching the review of the Run Testers (who experienced literally "bloody" blisters below the medial malleoulus), I've decided that I'm not even think about testing these shoes.
You called it on the price, might be worth it on discount but not worth the €190 they are looking for it

I like the fast that they have good rubber coverage on lateral rear side of the shoe. Someone was actually thinking of durability of the shoe. Kudos!

Yes love them 🥉

I hear this from many. Plus we all know some big brands stuff is no better or worse
By any chance you’ve also tried the new CF1 Carbon Racer and compared it with the KipRun?
Nice review, thanks! How stable is it for someone like me who over-pronates? and what would you suggest for longer distances with a bit of stability?
Certainly a more controlled squash. It’s a firmer type foam than something like zoomx or FloatRide.
Thanks for the review as per usual!
My pleasure!
I tried this shoe on at the London Marathon/Running show and i thought they were really impressive especially when comparing them to RC Elite/Endorphin Pro 4!
I think they are a little overlooked. Perhaps people think they are a marathon shoe. Not for me for that distance
Yeah, i also try them at expo; they feel good and EP4 nothing special and SC E4 feels nah
Good morning. The cheap and fast running shoe with carbon plate, interesting information. Like to EDDBUD. Have a great day.
Thanks 👍

I've already tried all the sneakers from this new generation from Kalenji Kiprun and the best is without a doubt the 900LD without a carbon plate.

how about Xstep? They have some crazy shoes
Never make them in my size

extra rubber on the sole adds plenty to its value. the miles from some super shoes are very low.like 1.5 quid a mile low.

Yeah I saw that. Strange they had that issue as I can only see very aggressive heel striking and compression causing the shoe to run that much.

It’s certainly low profile. Quite like it
