Great review, nice to see a breakdown of sound and bass performance, especially example for movies. These are the things I am looking for. Currently using Sony xm5, and I just don't get where the bass is going past 75% of the volume.
@@deputyvanhalen6386 they won't do anything for Dolby watching movies. JVC EXOFIELD XP-EXT1 is the only set up for Dolby Atmos as far as I know but they have they own flaws, and they cost 1k. Right now sennheiser momentum 4 is the most promising in that regard, few reviews mentioned bass shaking performance, which I am after, but also a good sound stage and separation. I have pre ordered momentum 4, getting next week. Sony M4 and M5 perform almost identically. M5 comes through with slightly better separation in certain instances, and M4 has 2-3% more bass in my experience. Watching movies on both of them kinda same experience, bumped up bass in app EQ comes through nicely in the scenes without mudding mids or highs. Sound overall is outstanding, but bass diminished past 75-80% of volume and up. For both M4 M5 and Sony's flagship earbuds all the same.
@@deputyvanhalen6386 I just got my hands on Sennheiser Momentum 4, Best sound, bigger stage, bigger bass. Everything I wanted. Can't recommend more. Also super comfortable due to headband design, way more than xm4 and xm5 especially if bold head.

Informative video, enjoyed it. Quick question. Have you experience the Sennheiser PXC 550-ii?Just curious how they compare to the Momentum 4. I currently have a 4 year old Bose QC35, and looking to upgrade, just not sure which of these 2 Sennheiser to get
Nah they sound very similar. I have had both. The only only thing that the Sennheiser has is more bass and more features. I feel like the Bose QC Ultra's has a more detailed midrange. Everytime I listen to the Sennheiser momentum 4 I always feel like it's missing something in the sound quality department and is also far more uncomfortable and the ANC is better on the Bose.
@@zombieimpact2790 you appear to be the exception to the rule as most reviews are saying the opposite of you although Bose have better noise cancellation. But neither of these are audiophile quality anyway, they're just travel toys. Bose are not rated at all in the audiophile category, whereas Sennheiser does have a standing.
If Bose is a joke then why do you feel the need to try and convince someone it is a joke? If Bose was a joke then people wouldn't waste their money on them. Does talking nonsense make you feel better?
@shughy1 I think Bose this time around geared them more towards audiophiles. They sound very clean, and they have a wider soundstage and better instrument separation than the Sennheisers, but it's not by much. The Bose are far more comfortable and are more portable. The bass on the Bose QC Ultra's can get deeper than the Sennheisers when turning up the bass slider, but out of the box, the Sennheisers have slightly more bass. They both sound better than everything else in their price range even compared to the Bowers and Wilkins PX7 S2e. Overall, it's a better listening experience on the Bose, especially since they get louder. I tried out the Bose QC empress green model, and they sound terrible, so I wouldn't recommend those. The Bose QC45 sounds better than the 2023 model, but neither of them come anywhere close to how the Bose QC Ultra's sound. Something to also note is that the Bose QC Ultra's are $379.99 right now, and the Sennheiser momentum 4 are $250-270 right now, so either of them are a steal.
I have the Momentum 3. I love them but I know the ANC is bad. Need to get another pair of headphones because my partner and I flew together last week and having only one pair to share was tough on us. Would you recommend getting the Momentum 4 over another pair of 3s?
This new sennheiser is technology better than the momentum 2. But appearance way the momentum 2 are so much more stylish. Don't like how boring looking these new momentum look. I wilk stay with my Momentum 2 they serve me well.
Nice review. Have you tested these with lossless or high res audio files using the supplied aux cable and if so, how did the experience compare to Bluetooth?
@@TechSpaceYT damn still not even as good as xm4 :/// man I care so much more for sound quality over noise cancelling but the xm4s were incredible on my flight to America. I really hope the Monentum 4's can atleast compete a little 😭
When I connect to two devices at the same time - can I hear music from one and movie sounds from the other one simultaneously with different volume levels ?
I have a Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless headphone. I use it when it's hot or for casual running, but unfortunately, the headphones eventually get moist from sweat. The problem is, the Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) seems to stop working after the first bit of sweat. It's disappointing that headphones costing over $400 aren't even mildly water-resistant, especially since sweating is a normal part of exercise. Even DJs can get wet from jumping and dancing! Aside from the sweat issue, the overall quality feels lacking. The sound is the only truly good aspect of these headphones. The ability to pair with two Bluetooth devices seems like a useful feature, but in practice, it's unreliable. You get noises and glitches whenever the second device connects or receives sound, and the audio quality suffers badly when both devices are playing. The ANC itself also feels ineffective. In essence, you're paying a premium price for just the good sound quality. Everything else, from the software to the build quality, feels cheap. There are other headphone brands out there that offer excellent sound along with better features and durability. This particular model just isn't worth the money.
To be honest, I really miss the "old" momentum headphones. Btw, I haven't experienced any issues with the dual-connectivity, but the ANC was working good while I was testing these - no jitters, no buzzing

I saw the Momentum 4 is quite heavy at 293g. The XM5 is much lighter at 250g, but I've heard that the Momentum is more comfortable than the XM5... Is the weight difference noticeable when you wear them? Especially after long hours of wear?
It's not all about the weight. For example, I ahve 450g headphones, which for me are more comfortable that the Sony's, because of a better headband and cushion design. 50g is actually barely noticeable in terms of wear, ergonomics is what really matters.
Do they work well on windows via wireless? I mean, is the latency good or bad? I want it mostly for listening to music but I also play videogames on my free time (mostly valorant)
SENN is way better as quality standard, though Momentum 4 Wirerless has bluetooth connecting problems sometimes (unjustified). I've just returned my SENN headset hoping they could fix or replace the unit.
@@VicharB The PXC 550-II’s were barely an upgrade over their 3-year-prior original, while it was 5 years between the Momentum 2’s and 3’s, if that isn’t an upgrade idk what is.
Evaluating the same thing here man, but in advance: Bowers & Wilkins PX7 (so the PX7 S2's predecessor version) doesn't get even close. Actually the reviews said it had a fairly mediocre sound quality.
I prefer not to use genuine leather because it tends to develop an odor over time due to its open pores, which can harbor sweat and bacteria. Instead, I find silicone or polyester to be better choices as they are non-porous and do not retain smells. I wear headphones for 5-6 hours daily at home, and for sound quality, especially for music listening, .I rank Sennheiser, Bose, and Sony in that order. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is not important to me since I don’t use it at home.
See I have a pair of Bose 700 hundreds, the ANC scares me, considering these because the sound of 700 can even with EQing them they do sound better but SM4s appeal to me more. But the there earbuds do also appeal to me

Momentum 4 has a very little cabin pressure. I don't know about the qc45 but i had the NC 700 and they had quite a bit of cabin pressure. Momentums do have some but you will barely notice it.

Brand new software update pushed out with alit significant improvements and enhanced 5 band EQ
Great review, nice to see a breakdown of sound and bass performance, especially example for movies. These are the things I am looking for. Currently using Sony xm5, and I just don't get where the bass is going past 75% of the volume.
I'd like to know which is better watching movies XM5 or M4, especially Dolby Atmos movies?

I own both the Sennheiser Momentum 3 and the Sony XM3. They both are very good the Sony has better noise cancelling and is more comfortable to wear. But the Sennheiser has way better sound quality not that the Sony sound bad they also sound very nice.
And that's what matters more than anything.
The sony sounds like crap
@@bradhuskers i think that to, or at least not more than barely ok but so many people are okay with that. Informative video, enjoyed it. Quick question. Have you experience the Sennheiser PXC 550-ii?Just curious how they compare to the Momentum 4. I currently have a 4 year old Bose QC35, and looking to upgrade, just not sure which of these 2 Sennheiser to get
I’m buying the momentum 4 cause my PXC 550-ii broke, I can let you know what I think once I get the headphones if you want :)
@@meistermusic7168 Yes, let me know
Do you still have these headphones? I was thinking about getting them.
FYI Bose are a joke in hifi world, Sennheiser have way better sound quality, greater frequency separation
@@MrR4ge89 I don't care if you're convinced. But if you know anything about hifi you'd know that audiophiles rate Bose as very bad quality.
I'd get the Momentum 4 :)

Volume sucks
When I connect to two devices at the same time - can I hear music from one and movie sounds from the other one simultaneously with different volume levels ?
i have the sennheiser momentum true wireless 2 buds. is the ANC level similar? i'm thinking of switching to headphones.
I have sony xm4 headphones, should I consider the momentum 4 or just stick with my xm4's?
Stick with them :)
I did not realize they are marketed as workout headphones.
I know the black color way at least is extremely fingerprint prone. How about in white? And does the plastic feel cheap?
Same wonder here

Just keep the XM 5, it's a great one
You can't go wrong with either
