- The development underway at the site of the old Geauga Lake and SeaWorld/Wildwater Kingdom property is expected to bring hundreds of apartments and homes and retail stores while leaving much of the land undeveloped, with a focus on walking trails, parks and woodlands.
I remember going to geauga lake as a kid and in 2022 I'm 45. I watched it get closed down in the 90s and at that time I eulogized it. Nothing will ever be the same the world is moving on.
It didn’t close down in the 90s. It closed down in 2007.
@@Gurimmjaw seaworld closed in 2000, six flags closed in 2007, the water park closed in 2016.
@@joshroi8610 yes but main park closed in 2007.
Geauga lake had an awesome fun house
I think what they’re doin to the place is stupid cause when these development homes get built Aurora is gonna be screwed from having too many people. I grew up in Aurora and I was 10 when Geauga lake closed. It’s probably too late now but why not start over and make the property just and plain old park how it started 100 years ago.
Right, the U.S. already has many closing stores that can't stay open because of the regular people being screwed over financially, as well as too many homes ALREADY in existence that NO ONE can afford, but hey, why don't we make a historical site just another unsustainable piece of capitalist crap ugh will they NEVER learn?
Greed will end it all
I went there as a kid.
This is pretty cool! Finally! It’s going to be a place for people to live in! And for people to shop!
You’re joking right
Are you friggin kidding me?? That's what they decide to do with that land?? Turn it into more useless property instead of doing something truly awesome like build another park???
So stupid. A Menards? C'mon. Never should have closed.
I worked at Geauga Lake in 1988 when Funtime owned it. Short drive from home. The last time I was there was in 2000. My moms employer had their company picnic there. I was pregnant so the rides were out of the question. I wish I would have known about the auctions they had to sell the things.
I read that the road that leads to the apartments is called BIG DIPPER BLVD. after the first coaster
Gardening for Anne Heche
Why did Wild Water Kingdom fail?
Because Cedar Fair inc is shit.
That's why.
My first job was at geauga lake when I was 16 back in 1998. I have a ton of fond memories there.
At night, after the park would close a co-worker and myself would always put our roller blades on and skate around the park sweeping up trash. We had a blast.
Sad.
Slightly disappointed that they are developing a good portion of it, rather than making all of it a park, planting tons of trees, etc. 245 acres, and I'm assuming at least a good 150 are going to be developed. Extremely bummed.
2023 now
I am very dissapointed with this outcome. Thanks Six flags and Cedar Fair for ruining Geauga Lake. Now I have to drive 2 hours instead of 30-45 min to what was an awesome amusement park.
They didn’t ruin it 🤦♂️🤣😂 you’re clueless to how it works. Annheiser Busch bought out seaworld in 1989, then couldn’t get the Aurora seaworld approved for roller coasters at other parks, so they sold to Six flags, six flags maintained a park for years up until they sold to the Waterpark in 2007. The Waterpark closed in 2007. It’s not their fault that the parks closed, it’s their fault the parks ever even existed 🤦♂️
Go to Kennywood or Cedar Point they’re not 2 and a half hours from you.
Bullish!t
IT'S BUTCH HIGHTIDE, GET IT RIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE
absolutely stupid its always homes and shopping centers they decide to build
What a garbage use for the property.
