- We wanted to see out 2022 with a bang and when the chance to work with Adnams on a homebrew recipe for Ghost Ship came along we simply couldn't say no!
Rob and Jim went and spent a few days in Southwold visiting the Sole Bay Brewery and learning everything they could from Fergus Fitzgerald, the production director at @adnams
We love this recipe kit and the beer which it produces! It's a homage that's as close as possible to the real thing which we know you all will love!
Be sure to keep your eyes open for part 2 in a few weeks time where we brew the beer and try it with a panel of taste testers to see how we did!

I agree, and such a big part of Southwold as well. The brewery tours are really good if you ever get a chance to go.

Great video Rob. Its so refreshing to hear about these successful enterprises in our country. Yes, we do have a a good future with dedicated and skilled people who focus on producing to the best of their abilities. I will definately be putting Ghost Ship on my next order from you. So looking forward to brewing this new recipe.

@@themaltmiller8438 Adnams - and in particular Fergus and Dan - have been very supportive of Norwich Amateur Brewers - annual clone brew challenges, they've come along to our homebrew festivals + Adnams brewers have helped judge the bos in our homebrew competitions.

Great video! Love Adnams, their Mosaic Pale Ale on tap is one of my all time favorites
Really enjoyed this. Great information & look forward to part two. I was brought up with Adnams and they have some fantastic brews. My favourite pale ale was their Champion pale ale - winner of best beer in Britain for several years. Their Broadside is also a classic. Blackshore stout is my current favourite brew.

I'm just down the road and use the same water they use , it's as hard as iron . It's great to brew with . I got a water report and were on the same supply. Dont need to add calcium here .

I wonder if Adnams use their house yeast to finish their bottle conditioned beers? Might be worth some effort to try and culture from those.

There’s so much under the surface of the beers Adnams produce! We’re in love with GS but also Broadside is being consumed a lot this end!!

nice video was worth watching, although if im being honest i got into home brewing to get away from beers like this, this beer has always just come across as another budget pretty tasteless 3 for £5 in your nearest super market jobs, and for the price of the recipe and everything else that goes into brewing it its not much more to just go out and buy it already brewed and in the bottle, i would find recipes of that sort of cost acceptable but they need to be attempting to clone something decent like siren tiny rebel northern monk vocation etc etc if you know what i mean, especially when ive brewed recipes from maltmiller that cost in the region of £20-£25 and they are a far better beer than ghost ship and come in well under a £1 a pint
Hey Daemiex, glad you enjoyed the video. The finished beer is excellent and has a character that’s very close to the original beer when it’s at its freshest, with an intense hop profile. One of the things we love about beer and brewing is the ability to make something to your own taste and liking or make a clone which either matches or surpasses the original. Pleased to hear you’ve been brewing some of our kits and we’re always here if you need anything 👍🏻🍻
