Compared to The African versions these actually look very nice. Not just logs put together but craftsmanship with good taste. Wouldnt mind owning one like that myself. Especially If I could convert it into a bicycle kind of thing.
It's called Chukudu in DRC Congo. They have similar one but a bit advanced. Burundi has cyclists who can carry loads of bananas for livelihood at neck breaking speed

We made scooters back in the 1950s. We used boards and the wheels were old bearings from cars. It’s so surprising that in this day and age to see something like this being made. But I still admire these poor guys.
В Африке тоже делают деревянные самокаты. Чукуду. Они более совершенны. Там есть пружины-амортизаторы, тормоз и их самокат-чукуду может перевозить до 450 кг груза.
A lot of this beautiful clip reminds me of my times in the state of Bahia, Brasil, some twenty-five years ago. There was a busy boatyard in Itacare that caught my attention. The guys made 25' boats out of wood that was yellow inside and yielded a pleasant scent. There was a lot of machete use, roosters would crow, and afternoon breaks were spent lazing in the shade of spreading almond trees. I saw a lot of hand-carved woodwork in Brasil. I saw how Bahians would improvise when making or repairing things, much like what we saw in this clip. I think the best invention I saw there was a gas engine powered wheelchair. The owner was a fine guitarist, a local celebrity, and was doted over and greatly appreciated by all in Porto Seguro, Bahia.
Brings back memories of the early 70's. We had wooden scooters similar to these ones. The the bar connecting to the stirring handle though was attached with only a hook made of nail and from time to time it detaches and some kids skinned their knees and elbows sometimes.
We also used to play with wooden cars now a days it is hard to find wish to have to get back those memories I will be more happy thn now because now a days people are forgetting such kind of fun. Today's kids doesn't know anything about such kind of joy and happiness only getting busy with internet
Wow is he great with that chopping knife! It must need a lot of sharpening throughout the build .Wood is very heavy , so taking it downhill on wheels is a great idea ,and as for the return trip wheeling the bike that’s alright, you only have to walk one way.
If it can be fitted electric battery with these scooters it could be more effective but anyway I really appreciated for their indigenous efforts using their available resources great job guys keep it up

In Africa they make same scooters I have seen hundreds of same scooters in Congo and neighboring countries I was shocked to see exactly same scooters in Philippine.
Phillipinians and pinaj girl are not poor. Many of them have relatives in america who work as nurses and make over 130K per year. They can bye good Chinese scooter for a good price. This video of making African wooden scooter is only for views😊😊😊
I was watching the Congo Africa one of these and they have the same type of scooter. I wonder who thought of it first, or maybe perhaps a tourist saw it and thought, Hello, kerching $$$$
just like our modern push scooter they probably just push the scooter up hill and walk it, and chances are when there is an uphill there is also a downhill.

I’ve first saw similar video of these scooters in the congo 🇨🇬, they look like they shouldn’t move but they are really sturdy !
В конго конструкция лучше. И там есть подшипники
The craftsman has still 10 working fingers, that is amazing
Looks like he's lost the tip of one, its just bone

They also incorporate sealed baring rings in their design as well as springs to make up for a lack of castor effect..... I am a bike designer myself.
