I love the way the double cab (Aussie) units look, longer, lower, sleeker. I want one for my railroad. We still run seven phase 1 F-7 units, with the small dynamic brake fan. There are three A units and four B units that haul the Colorado Zephyr. (A-B-B with an extra A, just in case, all bought brand new almost fifty years ago for the princely sum of twentyfive dollars for an A-B set, all beautiful Athearn, too bad I bought the locomotives in different paint schemes, but it was all the dealer had.) I wonder how I could justify an Australian locomotive on an American railroad. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. ♡ T.E.N.
@@arifakyuz7673 You may be right, I don't know much about rail equipement, so to me an F unit may look a bit like the E units. One is most likely better looking than the other, I'd have to see them beside each other I guess. It comes down to liking the rounded nose.
These are beautiful and wonderful locomotives. I can’t understand how anyone could give this a thumbs down. Thanks for sharing this video. I really enjoyed it.
you have to be real familiar with the hwys..and the rail lines to be able to film some of these..and then beat feet over and over again to stay ahead of the running..amazing..I love the fact that you caption the towns that they are running through. great job.
Agree with Robert, F units and PA’s really made a passenger train look sharp. Thanks for sharing your timeless video. Just GREAT. The new loco motives from Siemens are ugly. No style. They have that European look to them. Same with Amfleet and viewliner passenger cars. There physical shape, reduces interior space. Again, thank you for sharing. It’s to bad the class 1 RR’s don’t run public excursions from Time to time using their restored equipment. Just a thought. Dave
I would say go find G&U 1501, but she is STILL doing nothing on track 2 in Upton. It must be very hard to bring her to the Seaview for repairs. Maybe one of these other streamlined EMDs could serve as an example of the term "operational" as does this wonderful video.
OKAY WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At 5:00 minutes in the film you see a MP15 pushing cars across a Bridge which gets blocked by the PAN AM F Units!! I wanted to see that Switcher which was painted Blue like Boston & Maine Blue!! Hmmm... What Engine was that and what railroad and what location! .... ???
Rob Rock The location is the east end of the East Deerfield Massachusetts rail yard. The slug set switcher isn’t special painted. It’s a rental they use for yard work.
You Know, I hear this Stupidness all of the Time; people say, OH WOW IT HAD 7 ENGINES ON IT... Well, The Track is almost completely level.... How many of the locomotives were actually under power or "online" as they say.... "OH I didn't know" Well, A good Ear and Eye can tell which locomotive if any are offline...... See, just because there are 7 or even 15 locomotives on the head end of a train.. it doesn't mean they are all working.... Sometimes some are in neutral and just coasting along for the ride....
F units are still the best looking diesels! Unmatched in looks and sleekness. Beautiful timeless styling.
Yup, They sure are... 💖

Personally, I kind of prefer the E units, but the F units are the best locos for freight.

Love the sound of any train horn especially K5LAs, RS5Ts, and P5s going through wooded areas with lots of leaves, adds a new tone to the horn

Thanks for the amazing video! I love the F units - the traditional train of my childhood! Beauty on rails equal parts form and function.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the f units myself
Awesome trains and video ! 👍🏻
Absolutely gorgeous.
Love the livery of the locos and the maroon rake of coaches.
PRISTINE
Glad you enjoyed it!
2 Awesome chases! And the shot of the GMTX switcher!
Outstanding video! So many locations! The NS F-units and the consist look pristine. You must drive a Ferrari to get these catches!
Excellent video. Great locations, beautiful trains, sunny day's. You found your calling. 👍👍👍👍
Beautiful machines!

awesome video
at 3:04 it passed in front of my house
Nice.
Great video!
grate video we tried to catch the pan am in ny but we missed it by an hour but we got a empty coal train and a Intermodal in Mechanicsville
3:25 Thats awesome! I saw the same office car special go by that same day!
sixteen drive axles, that's a fair pull
Nice video
Nice, those strong troopers going strong!
I got that train as a model in 2016, but not in the summer, the spring on April 16th before my birthday party on April 17th.
Astounding video! thank you! Fs rule!
dude cool video!!¡!!!
What a melodious horn at 3:06
Horn from a era long past
Mechanicville, NY!!!
What I would give to crack the throttle on one of those engines again. I did my qualifying trip between Seattle and Vancouver BC in an F unit.

it looks like a leaser railway slug
on the NS F Units, It sounds to me as if ONLY the A units are online... I heard No sound coming from the B units....
Great whistle on at Norfolk Southern F unit
I just learned the B units were turbocharged........
that sounds like an Amtrak train
The PanAm logo on a train is just wrong.
They could put a Penn Central logo on it.
An e bell on an f unit?
I know the NS F-Units have been repowered they're basically a GP38-2 with bulldog styling.
I hope u guys get what I mess.
Would love to see a Santa Fe pulled by F units!!
With the war bonnet paint scheme.
1:51 shave and a haircut
Two bits
F units and gp9s and SD70s are the only diesels I like
It sounds like a double decker passenger train, u know... amtrak!
What kind of locomotive is it?
*mean!!!* gosh darn it I messed it up

Good point
goodbye ns f units
norfolk southern sold there's

Why are they called 'F' Units...??
F refers to its road classification, FP9 in this case.
@@SelkirkSubRailFilms but why 'f'..does it stand for something..like 'Front'..??
@@alanhutchins5916 The F in FP9 classifies it as a 4 axles locomotive whereas an “E” unit would have 6 axles
@@SelkirkSubRailFilms Thanks....got it...
Awesome video!
