I love Wei Wuxian. His voice and that look when he says "it's a long story" The way he just stood there and didn't hug back. How he stopped playing when they jumped down, even though he didn't need their help. But he didn't want them to get hurt. He's the coolest character ever 😵

How much I love The Untamed. Wei Ying/Wuxian is one of the best characters ever. I have watched the whole series over 8 times already (stopped counting at 8).
Actually I think your both right. Remember how Lan Zhan gets so jealous of Wen Ning. I love Lan Zhan but his jealousy and possessiveness is totally misplaced. Wen Ning is like Wei Ying's little brother.
In the animation, this is one of the coolest scenes and it is full of action. In the live action, they talk softly after a mild action scene. I want to cry... This is why I cannot watch the live action even though I loved the animation. This was one of my favorite scenes in the animation but I cannot even watch this short clip of it :(
While I agree that the animation is far superior, I think this version has it's great points. The animation is badass and spectacular, reminding us that the goofy Wei Ying was once the Yiling Patriarch, the Demonic Cultivator, and Master of the Tiger Stygian Pendent. The flute notes are heart chilling and terrifying. And that money shot with the flames *chef's kiss*. He was feared for some very legit reasons. However, it's a little in your face about the "Dark Magic" and "afftecting the mind." Very Peter Jackson One Ring Deal, Here in the drama, it's clearly shown that Wei Ying has become has retained his self control and instead has become a cold and ruthless being. He stalked the pair for weeks probably, wearing them down and inciting such paranoia. When he finally speeds up, it's clear to everyone, character and audience, that Wei Ying could have ended this the first day. He's just playing with them, extending their torment for nothing more than his own pleasure. Plus, Xiao Zhan is such a win!
I can agree with you ....the build up for this scene in the animation was really great and I prefer the animation...I tried to watch the live action but it cringed me out , not hating tho ...maybe live actions aren't my taste

This never shows how powerful he has become. Also in the animation, WWX’s hair style changed denoting the change from his innocence youth to this powerful darkness. I don’t see a difference in the live action; but maybe I am forgetting?
