- We are delighted to introduce a new third party developer, Crosstail Studios, who are developing the DCS: A-1H Skyraider. The ‘Spad’ excelled in the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force due to its immense payload and ability to loiter over the battlefield for extended periods. It also served with the British and French Air Forces. Take a look at this Flying Legend now.

I wish soldiers on foot were made much more realistic, especially regarding blast damage. This would be a great addition.

Well, rockets having more accurate blast damage would make them useful... give the Mi-8 a main armament etc.
@@bronco5334 True. But I doubt that that can be simulated accurately in DCS, it will be way too cpu/gpu intensive. Rather a simplified model concerning only blast damage using some probabilities to make the calculations, nothing too fancy, I think would be long overdue.
This is the DCS I’ve always wanted. Tons of Vietnam era aircraft that also saw use throughout the Cold War. Keep ‘‘em coming and I can’t wait to get my hands on the SPADdy Daddy!

Vietnam era??? The Skyraider first flew in 1945 and entered service in 1946! Such an underrated, kick ass plane. Can't wait to get my hands on this mod.

The Skyraider in Vietnam pioneered the concept of tough, survivable aircraft with long loiter times and large ordnance loads. The USAF lost 201 Skyraiders to all causes in Southeast Asia, while the Navy lost 65 to all causes
@@bikeguy3034 @Gilby Deluxe, you are both right. While Skyraider got famose during Vietnam war, it entered service right after WWII and fought in Korea as well.
We're still a ways away from Vietnam. Even after the slew of modules announced are released. The A-4 we have is I think late Vietnam. The F-4E is at best late Vietnam, the Mig-21 is post Vietnam, the Huey is ether post or vary late Vietnam. The Skyraider will fit, the F-100 will fit, the Mig-19 kinda fits. So far that is all we have. We need a Mig-17, an F-8 from the pireiod, a pirod correct F-4 air force and a naval version, plus a slew of Ai aircraft. Personally I think Korea is in easier reach. But Vietnam is definitely something all developers should work on.
I personally would love to see Korea, the Indian Pakistan War, the Six Day War, Vietnam, the Yom Kippur War, the Angolean Civil War, the U.S. naval actions of the 1980s, the Falkland Islands War, and of corse the Gulf War represented in DCS. So basically the whole cold War. There are so many awesome aircraft from the cold war, they could fleece us out of our money for decades.

That is the beauty of a game with content developed by third party developers. ED i believe is involved in the development of this module, but most of it will be done Crosstail Studios.

Do they have the A-26 Invader / B-26 Counter Invader? If so, I'm going to take the plunge on a new gaming PC.
It would be awesome if they could use the skyraider at the museum for the flight model.

The skyraider will be a great addition to DCS. Served from 1945 and up to 1980 in some nations. A plane that was in many ways obsolete when the Vietnam war started but that war turned out to be it's finest hour ❤
Like A-10A during Gulf War 1991. USAF wanted to withdraw them from service but decided to give it one last operation which proven to be so successful with A-10 destroying thousands of enemy armored vehicles it was to serve another few decades.

I haven’t jumped into a prop plane yet but this might just be what gets me started. Can’t wait to see it.

You know what would be great for a Vietnam expansion (using that term loosely here)? We know Heatblur will make a naval F-4 after the F-4E, so it be cool if we got USS Midway to launch from. Midway's Phantoms scored the first and last MiG kills of the Vietnam War after all.

My grandad was on the Midway during Veitnam. He spoke very highly of the A-4 lol. I'd love to have the Midway so I can see what he saw.

@@micahprice2807 don’t forget the modded A4 and the Bronco, you could make some pretty compelling missions if we had a map of a Corps Tactical Zone or the whole of Vietnam and bit of Cambodia and Laos. LRRPs in trouble, SOG recon team in a prairie fire emergency, fire base about to be overrun, the list goes on.
Skyraider! I've been wanting this airplane in DCS for years. Can't wait to see more footage of the beauty in action. Great work Eagle Dynamics!
Incredibly hyped that E19 is involved. Top notch sound will make this module even better. Cool trailer, and what a beautiful rendition of that song! Heavy, in the context of the conflict and this aircraft's role as Sandy. And of course the double entendre (I always imagined someone might use it for a map announcement, but hey this is cool too)

Skyrider is such a great choice! Carrier capable A-10 of early Cold War era, legend of both Korean and Vietnam war. Manually aiming such massive amounts of ordinance under AAA fire will be a blast.

@@Crin3122 Today or 50 years ago when A-10 entered service? Today all typical CAS aircrafts like Su-25 or A-10 are hopelessly outdated, but during Gulf War 1991 A-10A proven to be fantastically effective destroying some four thousand tanks, vehicles, artillery with minimal losses.

With all the Vietnam era module in the pipeline, it's obvious that a map is coming. Plus are we really sure that it was the Marianas on this trailer? Didn't really recognize it.

@@longriflem14 Kiowa was ready for early access over a year ago. But Polychop said they won't release it early access, it will be a completed module. So it could be coming up soon. I give it 2 weeks. (DCS 2 weeks)

There are so many (third party) modules coming, I hope ED is going to take a big look at the core game and do some long needed updates! That would be awesome!
And now a proper Vietnam map to go with this, the Huey, the F4 phantom coming out and the migs.
F-5 already here, an F-100, and the F-8 and MiG-17 also in the works at some point. They just need somewhere to play, which this trailer looks very much like.

Woke up to great news. Always thought it would be years before I saw this. The A-1 was the first combat airplane I saw up close as a kid back in the 70s with a fence separating me from the plane. Remember it till this day. It was at Long Beach airport off a frontage road in view of the 405 freeway. My dad had pulled off the freeway so we could look and walk up to them. There were two. Both had their wings folded and were painted light brown. McDonnell Douglas(now incorporated into Boeing) shared the airport.

It’s called the Red River Valley, F-105 pilots changed the lyrics and the song was called Teak lead mostly about flying over North Vietnams “red River”
DCS Cold War is the future, and ED clearly knows it. So glad to see this!
If Cold War is really the future of DCS and ED neglects the players that prefer more modern aircraft, they will lose a lot of paying customers.
I for example am not interested in all that Cold War modules. I would never buy the Mirage F1 or the Skyraider or the Bronco. And all the guys I fly with aren't interested in Cold War either. We'd like to see the Eurofighter, a full fidelity Gripen or similar stuff. We know it is difficult to get reliable data of modern aircraft, but that doesn't mean we like to fly aircraft from the 60s or 70s.
If I want to get nostalgic, I fly a 109 or FW-190...

@@robertkelly3186 Well, "DCS Cold War is the future" clearly means that most of their work goes into modules I'm not interested in. Unfortunately, ED and the third-party developers are comparably small companies with a limited capacity. If they focus on Cold War it is obvious that they cannot develop much modern stuff.

@@stscc01 So it's a zero sum game? This is a deeply ignorant view. The cold war aircraft are LITERALLY breathing new life into DCS. You should be grateful for that. More interest means more money, more money means more development, and more modules.

OH THIS IS AWSOME!!! Now we need Thailand, Laos Vietnam & Cambodia Peninsula Map. Would be cool if you put in the Air America Air base @ Long
Tieng you got to look close but from Google you can see that the whole town was the Air Base at one time. and of course we got to have all the Air Force Bases in Thailand and there was a ton of work in Laos and Cambodia with the trail and the fighters would orbit/link up/refuel over the plain of jars burial grounds by Xieng Khouang before going downtown. Will be kind of cool to have another CAS style aircraft and then maybe smarten up the ground AI like you have done with the AI Pilots. I also think they had some SA-2's or just AAA to harass the navy boys too on A island in the north I believe it was Long Chau Island but I could be wrong. its basically at the mouth of Hi Phong Harbor in the Gulf of Tonkin there.
ED don't forget that on the carrier the A1 had a certain way to start it and if you did not do the procedure right it would backfire and piss the crew chief off. I'm not sure if he had to do something with it like fix it after that if it happened or it was just loud and " You are Screwing Up My Plane". The Crew would purposely set the controls all funky to get it to backfire so if the pilot was not on his "A" game it would backfire making him look stupid. Some random modeling on the navy model too put in some history would be fucking cool. Random Antics From the Flight Crew.

The quantity of announced new modules and maps makes me a little suspicious, especially when it comes to multiplayer mode. Let's hope the developers and ED make a decent job when integrating all that new stuff...

i am not an insider though i imagine ED gets a cut of all 'official' modules. if so this will broaden their bottom line and therefore give the developers ability to improve.

At last the spad is coming. This really means ED need to do a Vietnam map. We have so many aircraft of that era: mig15. Mig21, A4, F4, A6, A1, F14a, F5, Mi8, Huey etc….surely now it is a MUST do project?
Ed announced on twitter, aug 26th, that a Third party is Maringá the vietnam map

Awesome ! Im not a prop guy but Ill get this. Pretty much confirms theres a Nam map being made behind the scenes now. With the Crusader, Phantom 2, Intruder and Corsair 2 being built. Its a done deal now. :) yeah !!!!
