I love releases like this, DC has such a rich history, it's great when minor characters get a collection. Definite buy for me, especially with that beautiful Brian Bolland cover.

I love detective chimp so much, I wish this collected more stuff though, JL dark stuff and some of the other DC specials he appears in

That would hurt the integrity of this collection though…. Much better to divide it by era. Those periods already have their own collections

Thanks for this overview Omar. Was curious about this one. Believe I will pass but would like to see a future collection of his more recent appearances.

Showcase 4 in 1956 (the 1st Barry Allen, Flash) is generally regarded as the beginning of the Silver Age.
So the bulk of these stories move from the end of the Golden Age (1952) to the beginnings of the Silver Age (1959).

I’ve been more focused on Marvel omnis, but I always wanted these stories reprinted. This era of DC between the golden and silver age (atomic age?) was always intriguing to me. I’m going to have to dip my toes back into the DCU for this one.

Anything after the appearance of Barry Allen and Hal Jordan is considered Silver Age

It's early Silver Age (remember the Silver Age starts with the debut of the Flash in 1956)

Of course it is a standard sized hardcover because DC will never allow us to have a collection of their comics in a consistent format. 😊 For the price, I would have picked this up if it was a deluxe edition. I also would have jumped at a cheap TPB.

Hey Omar..off topic question. I just won on ebay a George Perez signed Avengers Artist Select slipcase book. Now i dont know what the book has at all and went blindly bidding. Is it worth to have? I have not see any videos on YT of this thing
