Damn I love this list of detectives 🔍 My boy Tim Drake Came at no.2.... That's just too cool.... Also glad to see the question be given the recognition he deserves.
My favorite Comic detectives outside of Batman. 1. Dick Tracy: What needs to be said about Chester Gould’s great detective who set the detective standard in comics from 1931 to the present day? Not much, my favorite Tracy run will always be from 1931-1945 as he worked the mean bloody streets of Chicago along with a memorable supporting cast. Tracy will always be for me as essential to the detective genre as Phillip Marlowe and Sherlock Holmes were and with a rogues gallery that was an obvious inspiration for Batman’s rogues gallery. 2. Will Eisner’s The Spirit: Denny Colt was the essential detective who returned from the dead to continue his war on crime as The Spirit, Eisner’s O’Henry style endings and his characters plus his use of noir elements in just a year before Citizen Kane and The Maltese Falcon explored similar on the silver screen is why I give The Spirit an obvious mention here. 3. Jack Cole’s Plastic Man: Plastic Man had started out as a crook but became a member of the police force after he gained his powers as the original “rubber man”, He was a jester early on but he was also a committed detective. 4. The Question: Steve Ditko invented The Question and gave him a b&w view of world, But for me Denny O’Neil gave him his persona and made him one of the most memorable characters in DC Comics back in the 1980’s with reporter Vic Sage in his almost documentary observations of the human condition. CBG publisher Maggie Thompson considered The Question one of the three only really believable characters in superhero comics as well. 5. Mike Grell’s Jon Sable Freelance, Jon Sable was a Mercenary and a veteran who would accept cases but also made a living, and even had a personal life with a date and a girlfriend or two. 6. Rorschach: The man whose hunt for the man who killed Edward Blake the Comedian the stakes being possibly Armageddon. 7. Gil Kane’s Inspector Bentley of Scotland Yard: An obscure Golden Age Detective series that really deserves to be reprinted, it was inspired by Jack Kirby’s art and Gil Kane’s early Art here is a personal favorite of mine. MLJ (Archie Comics) published it in Pep Comics. 8. Fearless Fosdick: Al Capp’s parody of Chester Gould’s Dick Tracy that ran in his Lil Abner strip, Not by any means a “great detective” but more on the scale of Peter Sellers Inspector Closeau as a completely inept but memorable detective. 9. Christian Walker, Deena Pilgrim: Brian M. Bendis & Michael Oemig’s two homicide detectives who investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities who are also referred to as “powers” were part of a memorable police procedural drama and were the two main characters in a story built around the mystery of who killed a heroine named Retro Girl and where Walker and Pilgrim’s investigations led as the story was built around these two characters and ran for several volumes. 10. Parker: Not a detective but an unforgettable brutal but compelling antihero adapted by Darwyn Cooke from Donald Westlake’s Parker Stories, It starts off with Cooke’s graphic novel ‘Parker’ and is a must read for any lover of mystery and detective stories.
Well I suppose it’s like not being able to figure out that Superman & Clark Kent are the same man at first sight, with his a pair of glasses being they’ve worked perfectly as a disguise for over 80 years now, Suspension of belief and all that. 😉

When he’s Superman, he carries himself with the utmost confidence, and he walks upright with his chest out. He switches his demeanor, personality, and looks, in both roles. It’s interesting the difference between DC and marvel with regard to detectives. I literally couldn’t think of a single marvel character that is a detective, but there are loads of them in DC.
How can you have Tim Drake at number 2 but no mention at all of Dick Grayson? He was also trained by the world's greatest detective and it has been stated that Grayson's skills rival that of Batman.
Dick Grayson has been "detective-ing" from the 40s for you to disrespect him like this? Black Mirror, his clashes with Judge, Soames, Two-Face, Talia, Joker, Ra's, Deathstroke, ALL have him figuring out mysteries and defeating them.
Dick did not beat up Batman and agree to go undercover in Spyral for y'all to belittle his skills like this. In Spyral, Dick uncovered who was hunting meta humans, Dick found out how to save Damian from the bomb in his nose, Dick got Midnighter to help with God Garden and double cross Court of Owls, Dick did all that in his SPY book!!! This is so fucking unbelievable *smh*
"Her whole character is rooted in detective work." "After a short stint in the Avengers she opened a detective agency" (I may have paraphrased slightly) I mean, I suppose, that's a way of -glossing over- saying it...
If Ra's calling someone a detective is ENOUGH to get credibility in the DCU, THEN Dick should be right there, next to Batman. Because Ra's called him "detective" as a way of saying Dick was Bruce's true heir to the cowl. Way before Ra's said it almost sarcastically to Tim. Bruce saying Tim has the "potential" to surpass him doesn't mean Tim has surpassed even Dick who has decades worth of detective feats.
Dick Grayson went undercover in Arkham fucking Asylum as the frigging JOKER for days!!! Takes a prodigious detective with brilliant observational skills and a great talent for mimicry to behave like the Joker and not have any of the Gotham heavyweights suspect him!
He’s got a whole essay of feats actually it’s just the character assassination of dc trying to make him the “athletic one”, and Tim is the only Robin allowed to have intelligence
I know this does not say anything good about me, but this is the first time I realized that DC stands for detective comics, I don't know why I always thought that detective comics was a branch of DC created solely for batman
The Sandman, Crimson Avenger, Barbara Gordon,King Faraday,Dr Thirteen,Jean Paul Valley, Midnight,Earth 2 Dick Grayson just to name a few who had/have good detective skills👁️
What about villain detectives? If you're not disqualifying them, seems to me Amanda Waller would deserve a shout out. First - she knows Batman's true identity...and it goes without saying this was not information she would have obtained from some voluntary source. Second - she's crafty enough to realize that keeping her knowledge of Batman's true identity a secret from anyone else who doesn't know it works to her advantage, where it gains her leverage to understand how best to cope with Batman (and the Justice League) where "villainous" peers might be far more clumsy about "outing" Batman from pure spite - but actually tipping their hands, unwittingly, in some long run circumstance.

I was wondering how you were gonna get anyone from Marvel on this list besides Jessica Jones. Consider me surprised.
Bruce and Tim both being called Detective by Ras Al ghul. Big shoes there.
Didnt have to watch to the end Batman always the worlds greatest Detective 💯
It’s interesting the difference between DC and marvel with regard to detectives. I literally couldn’t think of a single marvel character that is a detective, but there are loads of them in DC.
How can you have Tim Drake at number 2 but no mention at all of Dick Grayson? He was also trained by the world's greatest detective and it has been stated that Grayson's skills rival that of Batman.
Best Super hero channel on UA-cam
Question should be higher.
THANK YOU!
If we are talking about raw talent as a detective, no one comes close to The Question. No tech or superpowers, just fucking talent!
Good question.
Nice to see Vic Sage in the thumbnail.
I think Daredevil could have made an appearance in the honourable mentions
Same
His powers literally make him a great detective
Dick Grayson has been "detective-ing" from the 40s for you to disrespect him like this? Black Mirror, his clashes with Judge, Soames, Two-Face, Talia, Joker, Ra's, Deathstroke, ALL have him figuring out mysteries and defeating them.
Right, I’m annoyed they always make him the himbo jock Robin as of late? Like guy was Batman without the angst
I feel that this whole list was made to put batman in the #1 position... But man do I still love him ❤️
Thank you for putting The Shadow on this list. Love your channel.
Hope they do The worlds greatest detective justice in the new Batman movie
So far we have not have a good portray of that Bat in live action. We can only hope
It will be long Halloween apparently
That's something that Matt Reeves is doing as he going for a detective noir movie.
@@dominiquepowell3158 hope it's good
Batinson is supposed to show that.
I can't wait to see the blue & grey Batsuit
In terms of raw deduction, Detective Chimp would be number 1, but taking into account other forms of detective work, Batman is a reasonable choice.
I completely agree with your list other then maybe putting The Question a little higher but overall I think you did a awesome job on it.
Do top 10 best energy manipulators in comics.
I was really expecting to see Constantine a place on the list. But what the heck, great list nonetheless. 😁
"Her whole character is rooted in detective work."
"After a short stint in the Avengers she opened a detective agency"
(I may have paraphrased slightly)
I mean, I suppose, that's a way of -glossing over- saying it...
The whole world knows Batman, the Dark Knight, the GOAT of comics and comic characters is number 1.
Faaacts..
Now do top 10 scientist in comics, that would Marvel's answer to this list.
Truuuuuue
Dick Grayson went undercover in Arkham fucking Asylum as the frigging JOKER for days!!! Takes a prodigious detective with brilliant observational skills and a great talent for mimicry to behave like the Joker and not have any of the Gotham heavyweights suspect him!
He’s got a whole essay of feats actually it’s just the character assassination of dc trying to make him the “athletic one”, and Tim is the only Robin allowed to have intelligence
I love Hellboy. It was my first comic and i read everything with him. But Hellblazer tops him in everything. But in everything else i agree.
Arris: Let’s move on to #1
Me: Jessica Drew?
Do a top 10 smartest characters in comics
I already liked this before watching. I didn't even know I needed this before I had it
Top 10 greatest detectives.
number 1: Batman.
*waits for the video to reach number one*
No suprise.
I know this does not say anything good about me, but this is the first time I realized that DC stands for detective comics, I don't know why I always thought that detective comics was a branch of DC created solely for batman
Batman to the MAX
But the question came so close to being number 1 for me
About time to guys did a video like this Arris. Love it
Despite being called the World’s Greatest Detective, I think Batman is slightly inferior to Detective Chimp. But still, great video.
My boy Timmy finally getting some love
Where is Detectice Conan? Lol I guess we'll wait for the anime list
If he did an anime list then L would probably take #1
FMRC93 sucks that Light killed him before he properly solved the case tho
@@denilsonthomas even though light wasn't caught, L had already technically solved it though. Even got the evidence. Truly was a badass.
Hajime Kindaichi?
@@ervinmesina5374 kindaichi's good too but he wouldn't top L and conan
The Sandman, Crimson Avenger, Barbara Gordon,King Faraday,Dr Thirteen,Jean Paul Valley, Midnight,Earth 2 Dick Grayson just to name a few who had/have good detective skills👁️
Whose detectives in this list can solve the kira case.
Kira Yoshikage? Are you talking about something else
LANS THE DUDE kira case in death note
The question. He is very much like L. The question kinda even talks like L
L is copy of question most of anime take ideas from dc and marvel
I remember a Batman comic, where Batman teams up with, in a way, The Shadow, very well written story!
Already know who’s number 1 batman
My favorite producer of Comic book history content
took me a min to understand what you meant when you said peter tingle theres more than one way that could be interpreted 😂
2:17 , 7:07
My personal favorite ones👏🏼
So, who in editing really missed the fact that our guy used “conversate” instead of converse? 😂
Why is detective chimp at number 7? He is actually a better detective then batman
the batman No... Bruh Batman outsmarted a 14th level intellect, Metron also Braniac.
Eh how do u kno??batman outsmarts metron -_-
Batman is more popular
Martian Manhunter
Superman
Constantine
Rorschach
All detectives and investigators, could easily feature in here
When are we getting a live action Batman series
Seriously Gotham series was good
Batman series SHOULD be better
Love it. LOVE IT! I literally and involuntarily screamed YES whe you said Tim Drake and his placement. Also Love Berry so that was a plus. Also, Also, obviously Batman. Because hes Batman. Love it
