    We so pleased to introduce you to today's Featured Artist ... our friend Marc Scheff!
    Marc's work is stunningly beautiful ... ethereal portraits that, upon further inspection, reveal intricate pencil drawings, paintings and goldleaf flourishes superimposed upon layers and layers of ArtResin.
    All the individual parts work synergistically to create a perfect, multi-dimensional whole - a process that almost brings his artwork to life.
    And not only is Marc exceptionally talented, but he has the most wonderful down-to-earth demeanour. His love of drawing and painting is clear. And just like his mutilayered paintings, Marc values the beauty of these foundations individually, as well as the finished artwork itself.
    ArtResin was lucky enough to visit Marc at his Brooklyn studio to discuss art, his process and how the idea of permission has allowed him to evolve as an artist.
    Enjoy!

    Incredible pieces! I have been waiting for this and so glad it was finally here! :) I can relate to everything he said about the process etc.
    I can't draw and my painting skills are not much better but I can sculpt and so I create that way. :) I do it for myself - for the love of the process - but I also hope someone else loves it enough to want to take it home with them. :)

    These are beautiful, Marc. How does one draw on the epoxy with colored pencil, or pastel pencil as you demonstrated? I would think epoxy would
    Be too slick. Thank you

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  6 років тому +2

      Hi Betty - Marc's work is fantastic, isn't it? If you take a peek in the video, you can see that Marc sands down his cured resin layer - the sanded surface allows you to sketch on it with a pencil crayon. Once you pour on your next layer, the sanded resin will become clear again, leaving the pencil crayon sketches intact and giving a really cool multi-dimensional effect!
      We have another video with Marc and you can see more of his work and process here too: ua-cam.com/video/G4xgwcdIWjM/v-deo.html

    Hi Marc, how thick are your pours? When I go over 1/8” resin I get tons of micro bubbles..

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  6 років тому

      Hey Mark - Probably best to ask him for a definite answer ( his website is Marc Scheff or try his IG page - instagram.com/marcscheff )
      What I can tell you though is that ArtResin was formulated to be poured in thin layers ( 1/8" - 1/4" )
      If you pour thicker than that, bubbles won't have a chance to escape to the surface to get torched out.
      You can try warming your unopened resin bottles first in a warm water bath ( just make sure they are thoroughly dried off before you open them ) - this will make the resin thinner and have far less bubbles. Just be aware that warming the resin cuts down your working time by about 10 minutes. Hope this helps!

    Why isn't the layer clear first?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  5 років тому

      Was there a certain layer in particular you were referring to?
      Marc utilizes so many layers, embellishing each one in a different way - to some he applies gold leaf, he paints on others, and some he sands down and this enables him to sketch on it with coloured pencils. All the layers then work together to give his work the coolest dimension - Marc's work is brilliant ❤️

    • @aestheticart5007
      @aestheticart5007 5 років тому

      @@Artresin thanks! But how does he get this thick layer? I mean which mold does he use?

    • @Artresin
      @Artresin  5 років тому

      @@aestheticart5007 - he doesn't use a mold, he just layers his pieces from what I understand. Many artists use tape around the perimeter to create a dam, and build their layers up that way :)
