    Very Nice Doctor. I am 53 years male, I am taking daily 500 mg Metformin, 2 mg Glimmepride along with a vitamin tablet contains Vitamin B12 of 15 mcg. After starting consuming this Vitamin tablet I have totally eliminated one of the finger numbness. This numbness was something like , even the outer skin used to unravel automatically. Now I am totally alright with this numbness by an economical vitamin tablet Neurobion forte. Thanks for your valuable information on the consequences.

    What a great video! Very well-explained content. Great example of using animated video clips with talking heads clips. And the background is just perfect. Interesting point you highlighted about vitamin B12 not generally being obtained from plant-based diets. Something for vegans and vegetarians to carefully take note of.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  3 роки тому +1

      Much appreciated!I am glad you noted that particular point. The only reliable vegan sources of B12 are foods fortified with B12 (including some plant milks, some soy products and some breakfast cereals) and B12 supplements.

    Great video, I just saw it. I was recently diagnosed with dibetese. It was 190 FBG and 8 mmol A1c. Doc gave me metformin 500 dose twice. BUT I quit it after two days, starting exercise (walking twice) and started low carb. Now my fasting level is 104 - 115, and PP (two hours after food) is 150 - 160. Should I take any medication at this. Look forward to your help and reply

    I am wondering if an enlarged liver is a possibly a side effect of diabetes. I am a 70 yo m with diabetes, HBP, Gout, and severe arthritis in my spine and neck from injuries. A few years back I was asked how heavily I drank because my liver was in bad shape. I watch my EFGR, and other enzyme counts when I have a blood work done. I am showing red blood cell anemia, even though I take a B12 pill daily. Can you advise me of more information I can look at or read to get a better handle on their problem, Thank you so much for your videos, I find them quite helpful.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for your feedback.I really appreciate this.Yes, diabetes can have an enlarged liver because of a variety of resons.It can be secondary to more fat infiltration, another reason could be incipient Liver cirrhosis and sometimes also because of an increased blood flow to the liver. The main treatment for anemia would be to treat the chronic condition. For example, as a diabetic , treatment would be to improve your blood sugars, that should help with the anemia.Without knowing your full medical history I would suspect there might be other reasons for your anemia as well.For example:
      If your body is low in iron, which happens in some people with anemia of inflammation, your doctor will give you iron supplements. I would think your Doctor would have checked your iron panel.Have your Doctor review your medication list to see if there is correlation with your medications and your anemia.For example NSAIDS such as Ibuprofen can do so.If you are iron deficient as well your Doctor will then start a work up to figure out what is causing that: part of that work up would include a colonoscopy and urine analysis.Here is a resource you can read and educate yourself about anemia. :www.nhlbi.nih.gov/files/docs/public/blood/anemia-yg.pdf.

    I was checked why my red blood cells are bigger than normal people.

    And day is remicron mr glaclazid 30mg x4 plus additional galvus 50mg
    I find the blood sugar control is better
    Last month, i buy b complex plus folic acid (b9) for supplements as i read i have deficiency. Than i experienced the good side effect is i have erection every morning

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  2 роки тому

      The reason is Metformin reduces increased insulin production.( Metformin decreases insulin resistance).By suppressing insulin, androgens( sex hormones such as testosterone) are suppressed as well.This is thought to help with reproductive outcomes.

      Unilateral leg swelling is unlikely from Metformin.If that were the case ( as it ca cause weight gain) it would be in both legs.In your case call your Doctor to ask for next steps as certain diagnosis need to be ruled out specifically a blood clot, infection in the leg, blockage in the lymphatic system, trauma , varicose veins & venous insufficiency
      ( usually both legs), baker's cyst with rupture ( start behind the knee).

    Yes, you are correct. My husband has been on Metformin for 30 yrs. His endocrinologist has never tested him for B-12 depletion. We are going to be using B-12 patches for both of us and plan on 5000 mgs of B-12 daily. I am a recovering alcoholic so I am pretty confident that I need a huge B-12 boost as well. I am furious that doctors do not discuss supplementation when someone has a serious illness. All they want to do is write prescriptions for drugs that will cause another health problem along the way...just like Metformin does. My husband has terrible digestive/acid issues due to being on Metformin for so long. Doctors need to research and certify themselves as Doctors of Osteopathy so they can actually supplement and improve their patients' health...rather than endangering or killing them. The Medical Association is guilty of harming patients by withholding helpful supplements that could decrease the need for dangerous prescription meds.
    My friend has severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and due to the Prednisone she was prescribed for over 40 yrs...it caused Insulin dependent Diabetes. That is why we will research supplementation for ourselves. When an illness can only be treated with a prescription...fine. But, otherwise, we'll take supplements over a prescription any day of the week!
