Not so brilliant because ETORO is a speculation platform, so its not that there is a broker or anyone is selling or buying. Its way more simple, you Gamble (speculate) and they take a fee, that's it.
I'm so late but God damn you made everything fucking simple for someone first starting in investing. I knew nothing before watching this video and now I have the general foundation of my trading knowledge, now I can expand off of this. Subbed just for that
Thanks for explaining this. I was confused till you explained this. To sell my own "buy" I simply updated the take profit figure on my "buy" position. Phew..... got that sorted. Thanks again.
dude!!! I was just about to ask you how selling works cause i was hella confused on how you will sell something you dont have! Your channel really has everything you need to know about etoro! I actually got most of the info i know from your channel! after a few weeks of lurking here i finally invested a few hundred dollars to start off! Thanks for everything thomas!
Man.. you are a genius. such a simple and beautiful explanation. I was not able to grasp this concept for the last 1 week and you explained it to me 10 minutes.. Thanks a lot
Yes you are right the term they use are confusing...at first we have the same thought that selling is that you have to get rid of what you have...now i know its like buyUP or buyDOWN position..thanks for sharing man😊
Hi Thomas, quick note to say thank you for these videos. I have only been using EToro for a little over a week. Your videos have been hugely helpful as I find my way around the system and begin to understand the process. Having a nightmare with Ripple, but happy to sit on it for as long as it takes. All my other trades so far have faired much better- but not enough to offset my losses on Ripple to date. Hopefully it won’t be an expensive learning curve. My aim is not to lose 90% of my money in 90 days! Keep up the good work.
I think a LOT of people are in the same situation with Ripple - I've been there with Ethereum, back when Ethereum was at $130 :) That one took months of waiting though - Ripple may move quicker. But then look at Ethereum now ... I closed when it got back to 400 ... DOH! AND I did it so my stats wouldn't swing around wildly like they had done. Very silly ...
I personally don’t “sell” I leave that to my copy traders ... which is also what I do with leverage... don’t touch it, leave it to the experts... I just focus on the low prices to buy and wait for the profit ...
TY sir. But i have a question - when talking about giving stocks back to broker what timeframe where are talking about? Cause after lending stocks, selling them and seeing a price go up, doesn't mean you can't wait the «correcton» to come and walk out like a boss (?) 🤨 Just a small noobie here.
I listened carefully to your guidance. And I understood it. I also listened to another vlogger who said 67% of investors on EToro fail and get burned. So I am thinking of doing exactly what you later advised and Just follow somebody who has a skill. I guess it takes the fun out of self-investment. But I don't feel expert enough to guess.
great video thank you. can you close a position 24hr a day or will your position only close during market hours? lets say your up 20% at 10pm on a trade and your happy to take profits can you close then and there or will your position only close when market opens back up possibly losing your profit at 10am or market open? ty
thanks for your easy explanation and the editing of the videos you make, that passion of trading is seen in you as you want to share it with others I thank you so much
Beautifully explain but I really have a doubt. I mean if you open a buy position by holding underlying asset then when you close the position it’s always according to the market price and you cant decide how much you wanna sell so what move the market down actually that determine the market price that you have to sell at? For me, ETORO seems like working like a betting system that have nothing to do with stock and just allow user to bet which direction the market will goes. This is different with BINANCE for example. It allow you to make a sell spread of the underlying asset that you own. What’s your thought?
Hello , thanks a lot for your videos you are very helpful. Let me ask you a thing, so it means if I set stop loss it doesn’t sell automatically the stocks?Grazie !
You are a great teacher. I am only still very young and i'm pretty new to trading, I have learnt so much in this video and i would appreciate you making more!
I'm new to leverage trading. However, I signed up with etoro.com because of your UA-cam videos which are so easy to understand, I thank you. However, I've not been able to find a button to leverage BTC. I've only got a BUY button on both portfolios. I'm from the USA. Is this the reason? I've been working in the virtual porfolio. Help please?
Hey, Thomas. I really like your videos but it's high time you mention the obvious. On etoro you don't actually buy/sell stocks. You are, actually, trading with CFDs (contracts for difference). It's as much related to betting as it is to trading equities(stocks). Hence the margins (2,5,10, etc). It's important for beginners to understand that and what other implications it has, the most notable of which being that with cfd's you don't actually own the stock that you are trading. You are not a stock-owner of any sort. Make sure to mention that.
I saw somewhere that after a certain date, etoro users are actually not doing CFD but actual stocks. May have seen this on etoro page itself but i cant remember. But even if that's the case, i have no clue where our actual stocks are, whether they are held by etoro or somewhere else if they arent CFD.
I have mentioned it... many times. check the other videos :) As for whether trading on CFDs makes it more like gambling. No. That's not true. All the analysis that needs to be done to consistently profit is the same. If it was like gambling, how is it that certain people mostly profit, and many other mostly lose. Gambling implies 'chance'. It's not chance. Using too much leverage if you're new is dangerous, as unfamiliarity with the way the market moves in conjunction with leverage causes panic and bad decisions. I've mentioned this many times too ...
Yep, their plan is to move toward trading the underlying assets across the board. Crypto 'Buy' positions made manually are already the underlying asset, as are many of the ETFs. At the moment they're working on the transition (or so I'm told :) )
He has mentioned this in previous videos but to be fair Thomas, nothing is more relatable to trading as betting . You and nobody has any idea when a stock is actually going to go up or down in value we all just chose more likely times it will do either. Some people are professional gamblers and make money. At least with gambling you have the information on the weaker and stronger teams to play on. The problem is knowing when to quit and knowing when to bet big.
thanks for the explanation! still holding off on dumping hundreds into etoro, but eyeing shorting very heavily now. Is there a minimum time that you need to keep your position (Buy/Sell) open on etoro, or are you okay closing the position in the next 10 minutes if you want it so?
Yes, as far as i know, you can hold trades open for short amounts of time. In the beginning i did get a warning from eToro for posting on my wall that i wanted suggestions for 'scalping' trades (extremely short timeframes) around a speech which Mario Draghi was giving - i thought i could make some quick money off the reactions to his speech... etoro posted on my wall that scalping trades weren't allowed and were viewed as market manipulation. So i don't know how short the trades can be - I've seen people keep trades open for a matter of minutes though, and not get in trouble.
Great content. I’m used to TradeView soooo much easier than Etoro but Brokers allll suck for small accounts. I am trying to familiarize myself with Etoro before going live. I am currently using the Demo/Virtual mode and I don’t see the SELL button. Is this not available for Virtual Mode?
if the market is volatile, is it smart to make both sell and buy ? to max ur profit and min ur lose ? and then which every is lose you leave it there until it goes to profit and close the profit so you dont get lose ... sry if this sounds naive :>
Great Info. Apparently i thought about trading all wrong, but it makes embarrassingly sense when you lay it out like that. All you basically do is buy an amount of "roller coaster" tickets"T" from a amusement park for a price "X" but you always have to deliver the same amount of tickets ("T") back to the amusement park when you leave. Now if the prize "roller coaster" tickets is going plus or minus compared to when you entered the park. That's the difference when your leaving the park.
For the same stock, I can do short selling and buying many times? For example, the current price for AAPL is $130 per share, I expect the price to drop, then I click 'sell' to short sell it. Then the price drops to $125 per share. I earn some money. However, at the price of 125, I predict the price will go up. At this point, I must close the position, otherwise I will start to lose money. My question is, at the bottom price of 125, can I click on the 'buy' to turn the short selling position to 'short buying' position to allow me to earn money from the SAME share when the price goes up ?
@@SocialTrading please do i really want to start on this im saving money to learn about this and i want to buy a course from someone and i think i wouldn't waste my money on you
If the markets are closed when you open the trade, it actually becomes an 'at market' order - meaning your trade will be opened at the first available price when the markets next open. So Monday...
Cool, how do you do a regular sell (non short selling)? What's the technical term for a regular sell (sell to say cash out to the bank, say it's already been 10 or more years or you need the cash)? Thanks.
I would like to thank you for all your great clips. I really like your style of explaining things, awesome job. wonder if you can also make more clips on buying altcoins on binance (optimizing fees & investments)
Cheers Serge. Yeah, but youtube absolutely stomped on my channel when I made those crypto focused vids so I'll mix them in here and there now. I want to do one on Steemit as that's pretty clever... Thanks for the suggestion ! :) With the fees on Binance, I'd definitely suggest buying a small amount of BNB - Binance's coin and using that option i showed in the video to use that to pay all fees - it halves the fees cost (at least for now)
Hi, can you help out, what if the trader I copied in etoro sell their shares, does that mean I lose that money I have invested in them for that particular share? Say they sell their bitcoin in their portfolio, does that mean I lose or earn money too?
but so much more, like what price to put for sell like above or below the current share price, so you can minimize risk in case of opening trade buoyancy
This was the most helpful advice be gotten on buying and selling so far before I had no idea how It worked I thought it was like what you said like your selling what you have Thank you very much for the info
Well done. If you notice few of the top traders on Etoro invest in currencies. They baffle me! I do tend to scalp the best traders for a small profit, but it pays.
Hi , i just want to ask you because i tried many times in my Virtual money in etoro that short selling and buying , and in just 3hrs of doing that repeatedly i earn 300USD but this is a virtual... what i want to know is the process in virtual and real is just the Same? because if its same i figured out that maybe i can win using my strategy .. hoping for your reply have a nice day 👍
Hey there - there are problems with the virtual portfolio from what I've heard (although it's a while ago since anyone mentioned it so they may have fixed things...) There used to be inconsistencies where some copied trades wouldn't open or other errors, so I'm not sure if we can really call it accurate. I have found it helpful quite a few times for trying things out, but they were never tests which relied on too much accuracy - it was more to get a feel for closing partial trades or things like that.
Hi thanks for sharing your etoro experience. I am just dipping my toe in the virtual trades, I decided to invest in as many war mongering companies like raytheon, blackstone, lockhead Martin, surprise surprise doing well. Good luck with your dealings.
I'm really enjoying your videos. For a newbie to this, your straight forward explanations & examples make it look easy. Have you compared the various other platforms to etoro? If so, can you share your thoughts?
Thanks. Honestly, I haven't looked to far into Avatrade or the other copy trading ones as I looked at them in the beginning and they were so clearly behind that I just didn't want to split my attention - I wanted to see which one looked best and just start learning about that. So far, I haven't heard anything which would pull me away to those others, but maybe it's time to just go and look a bit again. Really, if there's anything I'd focus on more right now, it's probably 'yield farming' in the crypto space...
@@SocialTrading Thanks...yield farming? Have you made a video on this type of trading? Can you provide a link to another site which explains all about this?
Hi Thomas...Can you clarify this please...In a trade position, if I sell (which means I buy at current price and betting it will de-value) and it does de-value to my loss value as per stop loss tab (which I set earlier)....What will be my final gain in payout.....or should I say how much will I be paid out in profit.....Ok say I buy gold at a dollar (on the sell option)......set my stop loss to 50c and it hits the 50c.....What will be the final payout if I close this position....thanks Ken
Let's say i have €500 in buy positions on apple and €500 in a sell on MSFT . If the stock price of MSFT rises to €1000 will my equity in apple be used to cover the cost of my loss?
That was a brilliant explanation for the "SELL" position. Thank you Sir.
Thanks a lot sir! :)
Not so brilliant because ETORO is a speculation platform, so its not that there is a broker or anyone is selling or buying.
Its way more simple, you Gamble (speculate) and they take a fee, that's it.

Hi thanks for sharing your etoro experience. I am just dipping my toe in the virtual trades, I decided to invest in as many war mongering companies like raytheon, blackstone, lockhead Martin, surprise surprise doing well. Good luck with your dealings.
hehehehe.
really helpful. Thanks for these nice explanations
Thank you :)
Was about to reply and then saw your other comment :)
Very good explained ...thanks
Thank you :)
Clear explanation. Bravo!
Brilliant video and great explanation! Thanks!
Thank you so much Fabrizio :)
Why does etoro ask me to deposit to be able to sell? And am I able to sell for a higher price then the current market price?
Let's say i have €500 in buy positions on apple and €500 in a sell on MSFT . If the stock price of MSFT rises to €1000 will my equity in apple be used to cover the cost of my loss?
I don`t get at "sell" option when I go to TRADE, only a BUY option.
Great presentation/explanation. Subbed.👍
Thank you. I appreciate it :)
can you do both sell and buy in 1 stock in etoro?
hey there, yep last time I checked, you can open a buy trade and a sell trade at the same time ... (unless they've changed it now...)
