Seriously, I would value whatever hardware/consumer goods you reviewed/explained/presented. I know they would be honest and thoughtful. Viewers and/or UA-cam's algorithms might have an issue with them being on this channel so perhaps you could consider a second channel dedicated to that sort of stuff.
One reason fakes look so similar to the originals is that (sometimes) the group that counterfeits them have access to the same factory that makes the originals. A company I had worked for that had it's product made in China had a problem with counterfeits, it turned out that after their last shift left for the day, one of the floor supervisors would stay behind and let in the counterfeiters. So their counterfeits were made on the same machines as the originals, the only thing they brought themselves was the materials (plastic, circuit boards etc). When he got caught, he acted like we had no right to be upset. Apparently that is (according to him) common practice in China, and the Government was fully aware of the practice and extent of counterfeiting. They just don't care. Needless to say the company I worked for pulled out of China and brought all their manufacturing back to the UK after that.

Spelling things right and not missing spaces is already a given and they can't get that right. I'm not the first or last to list these things out. There's also legal reasons in China why they purposefully use the wrong logo, so it's likely that will never change.

It’s pretty crazy how bad it’s gotten. I’ve been looking to buy a new controller from places like offerup and I’ve seen so many new controllers that are very close fakes. Thankfully, I have a good eye for different things and I have not purchased a close replica. They do look very good and very close to the legit PS4 controllers but this video has been very helpful.

I have one. No matter how hard/slightly you push the right analog stick, it makes no difference in sensitivity; therefore not good for aiming accurately.

I got what looked like a genuine Dualshock 4 for Christmas, but when I turned it on and used it, I noticed it felt way off. Something I noticed was how the box came with a cable despite the fact it said on the back a micro usb cable "Is not included." It also felt lighter compared to my other one, which I know is genuine.
Please also remember that some Genuine second hand controllers can feel different if they have been repaired and the analogue stick switches have been replaced for lower quality version parts instead of the oem quality switches when people try to fix the very common "STICK DRIFT" issues most types of controllers manufacturers produce can face. There is also a slight difference in design between the dualshock v1 and the newer dualshock v2 controller to look out for.
I thought I was going crazy. My new controller was just off, especially with aiming. I would switch back and forth and couldn't put my finger on it. The real controllers mention the production date on the label. They also weigh more cause they have good quality batteries that last much longer than the fake ones.
Had a few fake controllers in the past for the PS3 and PS4. Can tell the general build quality isn't up to scratch compared to the genuine ones. Mainly the buttons feel too clicky, not spongy enough and the analogue sticks are pretty stiff. Also they always end up losing the ability to sync so end up with bricked/dead controllers .. the latest being a berry blue one..

I checked the listing and it shows he previously sold 25 controllers. Which I am sure are all GOOD FAKES, and you don't spot it unless you test it. Also, the blinked like 21 times before finding the PS4 device. Very sad.
When you turn on a fake controller it flashes rapidly and takes more than 4 seconds to go solid, a real one flashes two or three times slowly then goes solid in 3 seconds
The difference is ** just like a car * a good steering wheel is fast and responsible and a loose steering wheel won't respond as a tight one and quick one
So that's why my "Taco Bell exclusive" controler I have feels clickier and wonkier than the other 2 originals I have. This video is much appreciated since it goes in detail to spot the differences. Even the smaller ones are of significance to me. The aforementioned controler I have is the only one that feels clickier, cheaper and all around odd.

I like the format and there was definitely some things here I didn't know (especially since I'm not that much into console hardware, either). What you could do to improve it is to use separate shots of the stuff you want to show - like when the camera didn't want to focus on the logo. Just take another video/images later and put that in the video instead of you trying to get the camera to focus.

Cutaways and meaningful B-roll can be effective when done right. If Zakh wanted to keep with the "live" feel with limited editing for these types of presentations, then perhaps a second camera which he can switch to in OBS would work as well.

I used to have PS2 fake controllers because the originals were quite expensive. Don't, just don't. At least you can give it to your friend without fears he'll break the analog sticks.
There's a whole slew of different counterfeit controllers that vary in different ways. The only consistency I've seen so far is that the box is never the right one, the serial sticker is wrong or missing completely but most of all: they just feel very off, right away.
Dang man I just bought 2 “new sealed in box” controllers from a guy on Offer Up and I get home and start playing and notice it’s so hard to aim accurately there’s a massive dead zone in both and the stick flops over when off center. I got one of these fake controllers from Amazon for €18, and one of the things that gave it away for me was that the battery inside is a generic 600mAh battery in heatshrink, but all the buttons and everything else feels just like the real one, it responds perfectly ingame, and even the sticker on the back has everything correct that you show in the video. The circuitboard even has quality soldering, all the parts correspond, even that horrible silkskin Sony love to use, the box looked original with all the proper lettering and branding on it... I'm kind of wondering if maybe mine is actually a reconditioned factory defect. But I'm not complaining, I'm happy with it, because I bought it to replace the original on which the sticks have terrible drift issues with less than 50 hours of use. So I prefer thoe one I got than getting a real one for more than 3 times the price if it's only going to last me about 50 hours. I have some new sticks ordered for my original, but they are taking so long to arrive... And besides, the original is boring black, whilst my real fake is a very nice looking rose gold.
That makes sense yeah, a lot of the 'fake' ones are actually repaired or refurbished old ones out back in their legit boxes. As long as you got it cheap and it works it's still good.
this helped a lot i found out my controller i bought online is fake but it works like any other controller but annoying cause the joystick sometimes does not respond i went to find where i bought it to inform other people who might buy that it's maybe fake then i found out they are no longer selling the controller so they may have been found out
the sickest problem with Lazada is allowing sellers to label the fake ones as original and even on the FAQ the seller replies 'yes' to a question on genuity. now they use the "raya sale" tag to justify a cheaper price as compared to the market price while still labelling it as original, and some use "refurbished" tag to claim it is original. and buyers on Lazada are too naive to fall for this trick.
I literally just purchased a new controller that arrived today to replace a fake controller I received as a gift. I chose the green camo finish as I figured people making cheap knockoffs will not go through the effort of adding textures. It feels great, in fact even better than the controller that came with the system.

You're absolutely right about Sony Computer Entertainment vs Sony Interactive entertainment. Because sony computer Entertainment changed their name on the middle of 2016 to Sony Interactive Entertainment..right when the 2nd generation of controllers are produced. Interactive is the word used now on newer controllers compared to Computer on the first gen. Having a controller with Sony Computer Entertainment on the back doesn't mean its fake.. it's just the first generation dualshock.

The lightbar is also night and day between fake and genuine. Specially when charging. Fake DS4 lightbar doesn’t “pulsate” while charging unlike the genuine. The fake one slightly flickers when dimming while charging.

There are guys on facebook and OfferUp selling them. Thank God my three controllers that I bought from him were fine it just the batteries are crap and they do not hold long charge. So I am buying three official batteries. Great video man!! I wish I would have seen it before.
Good video, but I think if you keep this kind of format, you need to do the videos more akin to vlogs where everything is edited to cut out pauses, issues with the focus etc, rather than it looking like a live recording that hasn't been edited. Also replacing the green screen with an actual background (ie a picture of something relevant that isn't your logo) or doing these videos in front of something more "real" would really improve the quality of the focus imo :)

@Itchyscrotum _testicles It's still possible to play with it, it's just inconvenient for games that have a First Person POV since you need to push the stick a little bit more than normal to even get the camera moving. This SUCKS for FPS games, but it's not that much of a problem in other games that don't require aiming precision etc etc.

In Las Vegas people sell these controller ls for $40. The feeling of them is lighter than the original controller along with the Analog sticks that will malfunction after a short period.

I can guarantee you the fake ones have these mistakes because they don't have the materials and skills to fix them. Mainly, the people making these controllers don't even speak English, so this video isn't going to help them much haha.
Lots of fakes don't have a stretched logo or air bubbles before. Btw, the stretched logo is done on purpose to skirt the loose copyright laws in China. If they change the logo even a bit, it's no longer copyright infringement. So it's not even an issue of them not knowing how to do the logo, but the fact is they do know and they make it wrong on purpose.

biggest difference is the crappy fire hazard battery that comes with it when you open up. plus the board and sockets are obviously different on the inside.
I bought a PS4 controller from Wish and I did notice these differences but didn't see it as a big deal at first. Then I noticed that the controller turns off for no reason on certain games, the feel of the controller was weird compared to real controllers, and it had a very short battery life. It doesn't even have the Sony logo. I wish these types of people that make and sell couldn't get away with this so easily. But it's also my fault because I wanted to buy a controller for less than 30 dollars. The point of this story is don't be cheap when it comes to buying stuff like controllers because your fun time is important to you.
easy way to spot a brand new fake is by the packaging style, the controller will be red for example and the box says jet black . Original dualshock 4 doesnt include a charge cable most fakes do . best way to find out is to open the controller and compare the motherboard to an original
I almost got conned into a fake one on Facebook market place, price was a little less than they normally are in store so I was instantly suspicious. Best thing to do is just buy from a trusted retailer. Its worth spending the money

There's a whole slew of different counterfeit controllers that vary in different ways. The only consistency I've seen so far is that the box is never the right one, the serial sticker is wrong or missing completely but most of all: they just feel very off, right away.
Dang man I just bought 2 “new sealed in box” controllers from a guy on Offer Up and I get home and start playing and notice it’s so hard to aim accurately there’s a massive dead zone in both and the stick flops over when off center. The sticker looks just like the one in your video too. Thanks for making this video. Just spent $65 and both controllers are so inaccurate they’re unplayable. I’m so bummed.

I got one of these fake controllers from Amazon for €18, and one of the things that gave it away for me was that the battery inside is a generic 600mAh battery in heatshrink, but all the buttons and everything else feels just like the real one, it responds perfectly ingame, and even the sticker on the back has everything correct that you show in the video. The circuitboard even has quality soldering, all the parts correspond, even that horrible silkskin Sony love to use, the box looked original with all the proper lettering and branding on it... I'm kind of wondering if maybe mine is actually a reconditioned factory defect. But I'm not complaining, I'm happy with it, because I bought it to replace the original on which the sticks have terrible drift issues with less than 50 hours of use. So I prefer thoe one I got than getting a real one for more than 3 times the price if it's only going to last me about 50 hours. I have some new sticks ordered for my original, but they are taking so long to arrive... And besides, the original is boring black, whilst my real fake is a very nice looking rose gold.
That makes sense yeah, a lot of the 'fake' ones are actually repaired or refurbished old ones out back in their legit boxes. As long as you got it cheap and it works it's still good.

this helped a lot i found out my controller i bought online is fake but it works like any other controller but annoying cause the joystick sometimes does not respond i went to find where i bought it to inform other people who might buy that it's maybe fake then i found out they are no longer selling the controller so they may have been found out
the sickest problem with Lazada is allowing sellers to label the fake ones as original and even on the FAQ the seller replies 'yes' to a question on genuity.
now they use the "raya sale" tag to justify a cheaper price as compared to the market price while still labelling it as original, and some use "refurbished" tag to claim it is original.
and buyers on Lazada are too naive to fall for this trick.
But we can still report them for fraud

I literally just purchased a new controller that arrived today to replace a fake controller I received as a gift. I chose the green camo finish as I figured people making cheap knockoffs will not go through the effort of adding textures. It feels great, in fact even better than the controller that came with the system.

You're absolutely right about Sony Computer Entertainment vs Sony Interactive entertainment. Because sony computer Entertainment changed their name on the middle of 2016 to Sony Interactive Entertainment..right when the 2nd generation of controllers are produced. Interactive is the word used now on newer controllers compared to Computer on the first gen.
Having a controller with Sony Computer Entertainment on the back doesn't mean its fake.. it's just the first generation dualshock.

The lightbar is also night and day between fake and genuine. Specially when charging. Fake DS4 lightbar doesn’t “pulsate” while charging unlike the genuine. The fake one slightly flickers when dimming while charging.

There are guys on facebook and OfferUp selling them. Thank God my three controllers that I bought from him were fine it just the batteries are crap and they do not hold long charge. So I am buying three official batteries. Great video man!! I wish I would have seen it before.

Good video, but I think if you keep this kind of format, you need to do the videos more akin to vlogs where everything is edited to cut out pauses, issues with the focus etc, rather than it looking like a live recording that hasn't been edited. Also replacing the green screen with an actual background (ie a picture of something relevant that isn't your logo) or doing these videos in front of something more "real" would really improve the quality of the focus imo :)

@Itchyscrotum _testicles It's still possible to play with it, it's just inconvenient for games that have a First Person POV since you need to push the stick a little bit more than normal to even get the camera moving. This SUCKS for FPS games, but it's not that much of a problem in other games that don't require aiming precision etc etc.

I can guarantee you the fake ones have these mistakes because they don't have the materials and skills to fix them. Mainly, the people making these controllers don't even speak English, so this video isn't going to help them much haha.

Lots of fakes don't have a stretched logo or air bubbles before. Btw, the stretched logo is done on purpose to skirt the loose copyright laws in China. If they change the logo even a bit, it's no longer copyright infringement. So it's not even an issue of them not knowing how to do the logo, but the fact is they do know and they make it wrong on purpose.
I try to get most of my controllers in store so that it’s guaranteed to be the genuine article. But I am a student so it’s not easy to resist a bargain! It’s a good refresher. :)

I just spotted another thing. The model number on the back will have a space followed by the last 2 digits. The real model number has no spaces.

It is there for the fake one. I talk about it in the video. So many people comment that there isn't a logo there for the fake one when I specifically talk about it. It's just a different colour that's harder to see.

You can also tell if your controller's fake or real by listening to the audio if it's fake the audio's a little quiet with headphones connected to it.

biggest difference is the crappy fire hazard battery that comes with it when you open up. plus the board and sockets are obviously different on the inside.
Just ordered one for a decent price off eBay and when I look back at the pictures some colours look off, when it comes I’m definitely testing it out.
I bought a PS4 controller from Wish and I did notice these differences but didn't see it as a big deal at first. Then I noticed that the controller turns off for no reason on certain games, the feel of the controller was weird compared to real controllers, and it had a very short battery life. It doesn't even have the Sony logo. I wish these types of people that make and sell couldn't get away with this so easily. But it's also my fault because I wanted to buy a controller for less than 30 dollars. The point of this story is don't be cheap when it comes to buying stuff like controllers because your fun time is important to you.
On my fake one, the sticker also got an air bubble, but they pinned it out... :D 🤣 Im totally stunned.🤣🤣

easy way to spot a brand new fake is by the packaging style, the controller will be red for example and the box says jet black . Original dualshock 4 doesnt include a charge cable most fakes do . best way to find out is to open the controller and compare the motherboard to an original
