It had individual good moments, but sucked as a whole. This trilogy could have been great, but they put 'fan service' over story. I feel the same way about Finn.
It was fun when people asked me to turn off my mind and standalone yet unbearable when you think about it. The problem I have with this movie is how am I suppose to view the logic of this universe and at the same time dealing with ridicule and criticism of others affecting my viewing experience whenever I throw an opinion. In short, I'm not sure what's the appropriate way to view Star Wars. The thing is, Rise of Skywalker makes things grand and spectacle. A big fight and an "improved" version of Return of the jedi. I dunno I find it oddly some aspects a copy of that film. Something I wouldn't be surprised of J.J. at this point. The thing I noticed both prequels and sequels is that they're bad in a sense without the lack of backbone of t.v. series and books. I have yet to see something SERIOUS and GOOD from the sequel era. The battlefront video game arc was brief. There's too much emphasis on the original trilogy during the Disney era (even the mandalorian is set at that time period l.) And I feel we need to stay away from the era of the skywalkers/solos/ Lando/ or anyone from the original trilogy characters and push way forward to a new set of characters where fans will no longer have to feel any mistreatment or excessive criticism of their fondness of the past films, books, and shows. I feel rise of Skywalker made that same mistake and somehow once again hurt the legacy and repair some at the same time.
Kevin Smith said that his friend that wrote episodes of Supergirl for him, said they could have made Finn's arc come back around with two extra lines in the scene with him and Janna talking about her deserting. If Finn asked, "Why did you all desert?" Janna could have answered, "Because we heard of you." That could have been so great to see him understand that he started a movement and is potentially saving lives.
@Saber Athena well the second lightsaber at the end I thought it was for Finn but it was only for kylo but it would been a great tie in to the first movie
The Rey and Kylo dynamic was the most interesting part of the sequels. A Kylo and Finn rivalry wouldn't have been as engaging. In saying that I think TROS should have focused more on Kylo being the protagonist of the sequels since he is the last skywalker. Forcing the "Skywalker Saga" on an outsider Rey just seemed unearned.

I totally agree, though I hope that there is a chance that if someone showed them a script that really gave their characters something interesting to do they might reconsider. A movie about Finn trying to save the remaining stormtroopers both from what is left of the first order and themselves while also learning to be a jedi if written well could be something unique in the star wars franchise and you could still have plenty of light sword fights and space dogfights.
@Jimb0 I wouldn't say it's a "total" failure. It had some decent ideas, it just didn't know what to do with those idea. And in some cases, just retconned them out of existance or shoved them in the closet and refused to mention them again.

But are they? I just read a rumor that Disney is working on a"Rey" stand alone film. That IS something that KK would root for, because she wanted it all to be about Rey. So Daisy is going to have to come back. And "Ben Solo" is going to return as a Force Ghost. So...yeah.

Every character deserved better. I can't think of any character that had a solid journey over the three films. Not the original characters. not the new main characters, not the bad guys, not even the smaller supporting characters.
Whats ironic is Finn was shown to be force sensitive before Rey was. I was so hyped seeing a stormtrooper that had the ability to wield a lightsaber and injure a force wielder believing I'd see Finn becoming a Jedi. I thought since force awakens they would play on this opportunity but they didn't they wasted a good character. Even the actors in the disney sequels never want to do anything else again.

YES! I knew Boyega from Attack the Block, and thought this would be a great series with him as the lead. I went into The Force Awakens with no knowledge of what to expect. And when all of a sudden the show stops to concentrate on this girl, I got bored quick. Then add Han and Leia's son defecting to the darkside, I was like, WTF is going on here? I was so bored and disappointed, I walked out and decided this was going to be a train wreck. And it looks like I was right.

@SwenglishGamer Your right we don't know if he was friends with them, because the movie never explored his reletionship with the other stormtroopers, wasted opportunity. And even though they did horrible things they were forced to do it and their still human. It's not just that he kills them but how the movie treats stormtroopers. With Finn we now understand that these are people with emotions who are forced to fight, yet they treated like fodder.

@SwenglishGamer The main problem I have with Rey is that they won't let her make mistakes. In the RoS, it appears she has accidentally killed Chewie, but nope, he was just on another transport. That's why seems like a worse character than Luke, even though in reality, they're both bland as hell. Luke fails so many times, first losing his adoptive parents, then losing his master, then losing his friends, then losing his hand, then losing his second master, then losing his father. The adversity he faced makes him that much more relatable than Rey, though on paper, they both have the boring old stereotypical personality of, "Evil is bad. I will be good."
My point exactly female main characters will always overtake a man of color because of feminism he should have been the main character or ON the same level of importance as Kylo or Rey.

Then TLJ put him with Rose and in TRoS, he had nothing noticable to do except shout Rey and a plot point which wasn't even resolved. Imagine a trilogy that focuses on three force sensitive characters: Finn, Kylo, Rey. Luke gets a vision that one of them will fall and will be redeemed. and we get to see that play out over three movies, like Zuko, Katara and Aang. Definitely a missed opportunity. Great vid!

I get what you're saying, but as some people here pointed out, he was killing them in self defense first and then in support of a cause he actually believed in. But you're right, it would have made a lot more sense to show him struggling with having to do it, and it would make for good character growth if they showed him accepting it as a morally grey necessity, as well as add a bit to his tragedy.
I never liked Rey. She was stale and boring. I didn't care who her parents were. I did, however, care more about Finn and Kylo. They were far more interesting.

In the OT it is never stated from where Palps and the Empire comes from except that there was a Republic before. The only reason the backstory of anything in the OT is known in the movies is because the prequels are a thing. In the PT the Siths are given no backstory beyond they are supposed to be dead and they don't like the Jedi. In the ST the First Order is formed from the remanant of the Empire and was formed in the Unknown regions. That's about it if we don't go into anything beyond the films.
Went from potential Jedi, to potential love interest, to potential, to potential, to wasted potential. To just a guy with a blaster. Finn, Chewbacca, Admiral Ackbar, LUKE, and Poe got a real disservice. Poe should've meant a lot more than he did. Rey took the mantle of Luke, Han, Chewie, and Leia all on her own. Sucked away any potential for anyone else to grow.

They should have known what they were doing up-front, but they didn't - looking back, it feels like TFA was released to buy time that ended up being wasted. Hell, in expanded universe, Mace Windu flat out denies Anakin training in Vapaad due to the tapping into of the dark side required for that style of combat.

Disney has never truly compromised with the whole diversity shtick. Falcon and War Machine in the MCU are basically sidekicks to Cap and Tony and Finn only got attention in the first movie.

I still think he shoulve been the main character in the recent trilogy. He was by far the most interesting character from the beginning. Instead of a Luke copy. Instead of yet another force user. Finn's lack of force powers could even be a metaphor for privilege and racism, how the force sensitive people always had more opportunities in the galaxy compared to the common folk. Huge missed opportunity.

My biggest hope was that Finn uses the Force to make an inspirational speech to Stormtroopers to convince them to desert, closing with "If you can listen to me, you have always been Force-Sensitive." Cut to 1, 2, 10 people taking off their helmets. Eventually every Stormtrooper takes off their helmets, just ordinary-looking regular people. They'd all realize that Palpatine, no stranger to playing both sides of a war, made would-be Jedis fight the Resistance by abducting them as children.
I was thinking something like that as well. Palpatine just totally smothering any Force-sensitives by turning them into faceless soldiers who aren't allowed to be people to any degree. Then you could ditch the "Emperor's granddaughter" nonsense and make it so Rey's parents -- who could still be nobodies! -- were hiding their kid to keep her from becoming part of the First Order's meat grinder.
This was the plan but Chinese government the CCP never liked this idea so it never went ahead. this is a perfect example of how political pandering leads to bad films and art in general.
How excited would John Boyega have been all those years ago when he got the call to say "you're gonna be in Star Wars!!!" And how ripped off he must feel now....such a waste of a character
The idea for a stormtrooper uprising led by Finn legitimately gave me chills thinking about. Imagine a battle, where the rebellion is fighting desperately to destroy a single destroyer with a planet busting weapon (which is frankly more believable than several thousand planet busters). Reinforcements come to save the day lead by Lando, and the audience applauds a seemingly swift end to the New Order. Suddenly, Kylo Ren swoops in with a fighter, accompanied by the Knights of Ren in formation. They devastate the reinforcements, and kill Lando. Finn, being a highly trained stormtrooper, naturally assumes command in the death of Lando. He orders a halt to the fighting. Then, he gives a rousing speech to rally the people. He points out to the stormtroopers that they are upholding a regime of thieves, who stole away from the soldiers any chance at normal life. Finn could’ve turned the stormtroopers and led a double Rebellion. Why couldn’t he have been the main character wielding the Skywalker saber? He could’ve freed the First Order slave army and been Kylo’s narrative foil. He could’ve used the Skywalker saber and used Anakin’s legacy to strike down Vader’s legacy.
Nah, they had all the right ingredients. Some of the ideas could have worked if they just focused more on the main character's arcs, instead of cramming all these useless minor characters

I agree. I liked Finn the moment I saw him take the helmet off. A stormtrooper, that are usually used as disposable minions, having emotions and ambitions. That is so interesting and it could have been explored. It seems so strange that after being a stormtrooper, Finn kills other stormtroopers so mercilessly. I wished that Hux had overthrown Kylo, pressuring Kylo even more to turn to the light side and reunite with his mother. Maybe a bunch of stormtroopers could have turned against Hux. I would have liked that! Unpopular opinion: Finn ending up with Poe wouldn't have been a bad idea. Finn and Rose seemed a bit forced (I like Rose but not a big fan if the idea of them being together), his crush on Rey is one sided and Jannah is unfamiliar. Poe and Finn on the other hand get along so well, and a romantic thing between them could have been established with good writing.

Keep in mind, the plan he came up with to save her was so immensely stupid, I almost turned off the movie. But, It...fucking...worked.😮😵 For what THAT was worth. AT. THE FUCKING. LEAST, one measly night cap with Ray is justified. But what is deserved, Fin marrying Ray in the grand fashion. Because, risking the last of the resistance for a girl you barely fucking know is fucking stu... I mean I can't even fathom the thought. That's how bad that was. Just my opinion.
Imagine a Jedi Finn equipped with a mix of storm trooper armor and jedi robes battling the First Order or using the force to "awaken" the other stormtroopers out of their conditioning.
As someone who never watched any Star Wars and just absorbed it through pop culture osmosis, when I first heard about the synopsis of Force Awakens (specifically re: Finn's character) I was hooked with the concept as it's such a fresh perspective on this giant universe. It actually made want to finally watch Star Wars. Sucks to hear that Finn's story arc isn't utilized to its full potential.
I agree completely. Finn was always my favorite, a defecting stormtrooper brings up so much story and character potential, but most of it just never happened.
Nothing about how his character was written after the first movie really even touched on the backstory, and the implications of the fact that he was basically a slave brainwashed from birth to kill. From the way they write the character, he might as well have had a run of the mill backstory and childhood, going to space-highschool and playing space-football with his space-bros
a more epic title would have been The Rise of Palpatine. Kylo ren had such a mediocre ending. i was hoping, expecting some flashbacks of how him and rei knew each other when they were very young and kylo figured out all that he had to do to have a chance to kill palpatine. he then used a machine or something to erase rei memories to protect her. and rei remembering everything just as kylo was about to die. fuck disney.

I would have changed one thing from the start: Instead of “first time I was asked to kill someone I refused” have him having actually killed people, many people in the name of the empire, I’m sorry first order. That way you could have an actually interesting character who is dealing with PTSD and coming to realisation of what he almost unconsciously was doing for these epeople and has to atone. Instead there is no difference between this character and one who was just a prisoner of TFO and is running away from them having escaped captured.
That is actually a very good idea! That’s a very good idea considering that he is a storm trooper and to see how it psychologically effects him and how he broke free and was able to rise above it by atoning for his mistakes!

It's a shame that Grand Admiral Thrawn was reintroduced through that show instead of being in the new trilogy. But because of how the new trilogy ended up, it might have been better if he wasn't involved with Disney's canon after all.
The Fin-Phasma dynamic over a trilogy could have been a phenomenal plotline. They honestly needed to scrap TLJ and try again. There were some issues in TFA. Quite a few. But as a foundation, it works if they didn't want to invest the money needed to make a truly great, logical, and thought out opening for the trilogy.
The thing is if they started retconning movies, they should've done so with the Prequel Trilogy, which one could argue is just as bad as the Sequel Trilogy, just in different ways.

If nothing else, they probably should have used the alternate scene of Phasma's death. It would have been a bit more memorable and maybe even could have been parlayed into setup for more material with the Stormtroopers in The Rise of Skywalker.
Ironically, some people think Phasma should've been the one in the "traitor" meme. That way, we could've had two fights between Finn and Phasma, with him losing the first one, but winning the second one to show how far he's improved.
Star Wars is about Jedis and not wannabes. Finn is just a wannabe. His poorly cheapass attempt to stop Kylo Ren in the forest fight was just a ridicule scene for finn. Now people are so stubborn that he wanted to tell Rey when they were sinking in the desert hole that he was secretly training in the force to become a Jedi.......bahahaha what a messed up thing. The good thing is that finn 5 fame minutes in Star Wars are over.

It was fun when people asked me to turn off my mind and standalone yet unbearable when you think about it.
The problem I have with this movie is how am I suppose to view the logic of this universe and at the same time dealing with ridicule and criticism of others affecting my viewing experience whenever I throw an opinion. In short, I'm not sure what's the appropriate way to view Star Wars.
The thing is, Rise of Skywalker makes things grand and spectacle. A big fight and an "improved" version of Return of the jedi. I dunno I find it oddly some aspects a copy of that film. Something I wouldn't be surprised of J.J. at this point.
The thing I noticed both prequels and sequels is that they're bad in a sense without the lack of backbone of t.v. series and books. I have yet to see something SERIOUS and GOOD from the sequel era. The battlefront video game arc was brief.
There's too much emphasis on the original trilogy during the Disney era (even the mandalorian is set at that time period l.) And I feel we need to stay away from the era of the skywalkers/solos/ Lando/ or anyone from the original trilogy characters and push way forward to a new set of characters where fans will no longer have to feel any mistreatment or excessive criticism of their fondness of the past films, books, and shows.
I feel rise of Skywalker made that same mistake and somehow once again hurt the legacy and repair some at the same time.
Kevin Smith said that his friend that wrote episodes of Supergirl for him, said they could have made Finn's arc come back around with two extra lines in the scene with him and Janna talking about her deserting. If Finn asked, "Why did you all desert?" Janna could have answered, "Because we heard of you." That could have been so great to see him understand that he started a movement and is potentially saving lives.
Adam Coppola this sums up all the wasted potential of the entire sequel trilogy.

The Rey and Kylo dynamic was the most interesting part of the sequels. A Kylo and Finn rivalry wouldn't have been as engaging. In saying that I think TROS should have focused more on Kylo being the protagonist of the sequels since he is the last skywalker. Forcing the "Skywalker Saga" on an outsider Rey just seemed unearned.

I totally agree, though I hope that there is a chance that if someone showed them a script that really gave their characters something interesting to do they might reconsider. A movie about Finn trying to save the remaining stormtroopers both from what is left of the first order and themselves while also learning to be a jedi if written well could be something unique in the star wars franchise and you could still have plenty of light sword fights and space dogfights.
@Jimb0 I wouldn't say it's a "total" failure. It had some decent ideas, it just didn't know what to do with those idea. And in some cases, just retconned them out of existance or shoved them in the closet and refused to mention them again.

Whats ironic is Finn was shown to be force sensitive before Rey was. I was so hyped seeing a stormtrooper that had the ability to wield a lightsaber and injure a force wielder believing I'd see Finn becoming a Jedi. I thought since force awakens they would play on this opportunity but they didn't they wasted a good character. Even the actors in the disney sequels never want to do anything else again.

YES! I knew Boyega from Attack the Block, and thought this would be a great series with him as the lead. I went into The Force Awakens with no knowledge of what to expect. And when all of a sudden the show stops to concentrate on this girl, I got bored quick. Then add Han and Leia's son defecting to the darkside, I was like, WTF is going on here? I was so bored and disappointed, I walked out and decided this was going to be a train wreck. And it looks like I was right.
Me watching Finn have a meltdown after the village slaughter in Force Awakens: "Wow! A storm trooper gone rogue? I wonder what emotional dialogue and new possibilities this character can give us?!"

It's not just that he kills them but how the movie treats stormtroopers. With Finn we now understand that these are people with emotions who are forced to fight, yet they treated like fodder.

@SwenglishGamer The main problem I have with Rey is that they won't let her make mistakes. In the RoS, it appears she has accidentally killed Chewie, but nope, he was just on another transport. That's why seems like a worse character than Luke, even though in reality, they're both bland as hell. Luke fails so many times, first losing his adoptive parents, then losing his master, then losing his friends, then losing his hand, then losing his second master, then losing his father. The adversity he faced makes him that much more relatable than Rey, though on paper, they both have the boring old stereotypical personality of, "Evil is bad. I will be good."
That would require Disney and LucasFilm to consider Finn a character instead of a token black character, and they don't

I was really disappointed Finn never got his Spartacus story.
I remember seeing the trailers for TFA and thinking "Oh man, an ex-stormtrooper turned resistance fighter and maybe a Jedi? Fuck yeah". Then I saw the movie and thought "ok, not what I had hoped, but there's 2 more movies, he'll surely shine then". Then TLJ put him with Rose and in TRoS, he had nothing noticable to do except shout Rey and a plot point which wasn't even resolved. I'm not usually salty towards movies much, but damn they did the brotha dirty lol
And Rose virtually disappeared in TROS. But since she was a boring character, I didn't mind it that much.

No, the force has always been a "either you have it or you don't have it" thing but you're right about how even so it took lots of training for force sensitives to actually use it effectively even for one who is particularly strong in the force such as luke and anakin. Lol no, the message was always choices and the overarching themes of light and dark. Growing and evolving based on teachings, your experiences, and personal will. This is why ANH Luke is so different from ROTJ Luke and Anakin to Darth Vader.

I get what you're saying, but as some people here pointed out, he was killing them in self defense first and then in support of a cause he actually believed in. But you're right, it would have made a lot more sense to show him struggling with having to do it, and it would make for good character growth if they showed him accepting it as a morally grey necessity, as well as add a bit to his tragedy.

When he first freed Poe I was sure he was going to be a spy but who laters defects for real. Instead he actually betrayed his brethren and the only home he knowed on a whim, just to help a pilot he didn’t even know and hoped he would believe he would want to defect. Now granted while fighting them, he would have to kill in self defense, but does he really have to yell WAHOO! everytime, and he never tried once in the whole trilogy to convince other stormtroopers to defect, that would have really strengthened his character, and why its such a waist.

I know! If I were John Boyega I would be furious. Given a role that could have been a complex look at war, morality and the humanity of soldiers who fight for oppressive regimes. Finn's relationship with Rey is another symbol of the failure of the new trilogy. Starting relationships that had romantic undertones and never following through. Finn has undeveloped romantic relations with Rey and Rose that go nowhere.

In the OT it is never stated from where Palps and the Empire comes from except that there was a Republic before. The only reason the backstory of anything in the OT is known in the movies is because the prequels are a thing. In the PT the Siths are given no backstory beyond they are supposed to be dead and they don't like the Jedi. In the ST the First Order is formed from the remanant of the Empire and was formed in the Unknown regions.
That's about it if we don't go into anything beyond the films.

Disney has never truly compromised with the whole diversity shtick. Falcon and War Machine in the MCU are basically sidekicks to Cap and Tony and Finn only got attention in the first movie.

Monsoon from Metal Gear Rising has more characterization in the one fight he was in than Phasma had over the course of two movies.
My biggest hope was that Finn uses the Force to make an inspirational speech to Stormtroopers to convince them to desert, closing with "If you can listen to me, you have always been Force-Sensitive." Cut to 1, 2, 10 people taking off their helmets. Eventually every Stormtrooper takes off their helmets, just ordinary-looking regular people. They'd all realize that Palpatine, no stranger to playing both sides of a war, made would-be Jedis fight the Resistance by abducting them as children.
I was thinking something like that as well. Palpatine just totally smothering any Force-sensitives by turning them into faceless soldiers who aren't allowed to be people to any degree. Then you could ditch the "Emperor's granddaughter" nonsense and make it so Rey's parents -- who could still be nobodies! -- were hiding their kid to keep her from becoming part of the First Order's meat grinder.

The idea for a stormtrooper uprising led by Finn legitimately gave me chills thinking about.
Imagine a battle, where the rebellion is fighting desperately to destroy a single destroyer with a planet busting weapon (which is frankly more believable than several thousand planet busters). Reinforcements come to save the day lead by Lando, and the audience applauds a seemingly swift end to the New Order.
Suddenly, Kylo Ren swoops in with a fighter, accompanied by the Knights of Ren in formation. They devastate the reinforcements, and kill Lando.
Finn, being a highly trained stormtrooper, naturally assumes command in the death of Lando. He orders a halt to the fighting. Then, he gives a rousing speech to rally the people. He points out to the stormtroopers that they are upholding a regime of thieves, who stole away from the soldiers any chance at normal life.
Stormtroopers begin rioting, leaving stations at turbolasers to attack commanding officers. They tear off their helmets, showing to the audience the humanity hidden behind a mask.
That would've been great to see!

I agree. I liked Finn the moment I saw him take the helmet off. A stormtrooper, that are usually used as disposable minions, having emotions and ambitions. That is so interesting and it could have been explored. It seems so strange that after being a stormtrooper, Finn kills other stormtroopers so mercilessly.
I wished that Hux had overthrown Kylo, pressuring Kylo even more to turn to the light side and reunite with his mother. Maybe a bunch of stormtroopers could have turned against Hux. I would have liked that!
Unpopular opinion: Finn ending up with Poe wouldn't have been a bad idea. Finn and Rose seemed a bit forced (I like Rose but not a big fan if the idea of them being together), his crush on Rey is one sided and Jannah is unfamiliar. Poe and Finn on the other hand get along so well, and a romantic thing between them could have been established with good writing.
From what I heard, Abrams was writing it as Finn/Poe, but Disney shot it down in the end, so what you have is buildup with no payoff.

As someone who never watched any Star Wars and just absorbed it through pop culture osmosis, when I first heard about the synopsis of Force Awakens (specifically re: Finn's character) I was hooked with the concept as it's such a fresh perspective on this giant universe. It actually made want to finally watch Star Wars. Sucks to hear that Finn's story arc isn't utilized to its full potential.

I agree completely. Finn was always my favorite, a defecting stormtrooper brings up so much story and character potential, but most of it just never happened.
I was interested in Hux's betrayal but they never went much into it.
Nothing about how his character was written after the first movie really even touched on the backstory, and the implications of the fact that he was basically a slave brainwashed from birth to kill. From the way they write the character, he might as well have had a run of the mill backstory and childhood, going to space-highschool and playing space-football with his space-bros

I’m a pretty big defender of the Sequel Trilogy, but I will fully acknowledge that they completely wasted Finn in Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.
Inquisitor Thomas Even in Force Awakens, Finn kills his former comrades with no remorse.

a more epic title would have been The Rise of Palpatine. Kylo ren had such a mediocre ending. i was hoping, expecting some flashbacks of how him and rei knew each other when they were very young and kylo figured out all that he had to do to have a chance to kill palpatine. he then used a machine or something to erase rei memories to protect her. and rei remembering everything just as kylo was about to die. fuck disney.

I would have changed one thing from the start:
Instead of “first time I was asked to kill someone I refused” have him having actually killed people, many people in the name of the empire, I’m sorry first order. That way you could have an actually interesting character who is dealing with PTSD and coming to realisation of what he almost unconsciously was doing for these epeople and has to atone.
Instead there is no difference between this character and one who was just a prisoner of TFO and is running away from them having escaped captured.
That is actually a very good idea! That’s a very good idea considering that he is a storm trooper and to see how it psychologically effects him and how he broke free and was able to rise above it by atoning for his mistakes!

It's a shame that Grand Admiral Thrawn was reintroduced through that show instead of being in the new trilogy. But because of how the new trilogy ended up, it might have been better if he wasn't involved with Disney's canon after all.
The Fin-Phasma dynamic over a trilogy could have been a phenomenal plotline.
They honestly needed to scrap TLJ and try again. There were some issues in TFA. Quite a few. But as a foundation, it works if they didn't want to invest the money needed to make a truly great, logical, and thought out opening for the trilogy.
The thing is if they started retconning movies, they should've done so with the Prequel Trilogy, which one could argue is just as bad as the Sequel Trilogy, just in different ways.

Finn should have been a jedi apprentice or full fledged jedi by the third movie and imo he should have been Rey's love interest just saying I ship it.
I honestly think Finn and Poe should've had something. Their chemistry was incredible in the very few instances it was shown.

It will all happen in the comics in future stories. Rey will train Finn and he and Rey will hook up in comcis

If nothing else, they probably should have used the alternate scene of Phasma's death. It would have been a bit more memorable and maybe even could have been parlayed into setup for more material with the Stormtroopers in The Rise of Skywalker.
Phasma might be an allegory for Republican or just non-woke females in general. And advertising for those who watched Game of Thrones.

Ironically, some people think Phasma should've been the one in the "traitor" meme. That way, we could've had two fights between Finn and Phasma, with him losing the first one, but winning the second one to show how far he's improved.
The potential they had with Finn was huge. We've never seen a trooper turn good. Such a shame he became the token black comedy character

Now people are so stubborn that he wanted to tell Rey when they were sinking in the desert hole that he was secretly training in the force to become a Jedi.......bahahaha what a messed up thing.
