Linux Lite, the fan favourite Linux distro has launched its next major update and it introduces many enhancements that aim to improve the system performance, stability and the experience that its users get here.
Linux Lite 7, code-named “Galena” is based on the new Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and it’ll be one of the best options for people looking to get a boosted performance out of their computers in 2024- and beyond.
Why I am particularly excited about Linux Lite is because it delivers impressive performance while also giving us an elegant user interface and a set of power tools that enable even the newest of Linux newcomers to use Linux for their daily life very easily- or tweak under the hood and customise it like they own it. You have the choice.
This particularly makes Linux Lite a great choice for Windows users who are looking to switch to Linux.
Really, Linux Lite is a very simple distro with some amazing features. With Linux Lite’s advanced tools, you can truly unlock the power of Linux here. You can be an absolute beginner and do some crazy things here.

I prefer Mint XFCe version, not a fan of SNAPs.

This system is evolving quite well. Doesn't look too different than the older versions, but the new "Lite Apps" (such as the task manager) make it a lot better for use, and gives quite the diferentiation from Xubuntu 24.04. XFCE's original task manager is fine, but I feel it's a bit incomplete in terms of functions. Lite's version looks similar to W10 or W11 task manager, which I think will make things easier for new users. About Lite Tweaks, it can be confusing for a beginner, but it's quite the tool when you know what you're doing. The app center, I feel it could be better, maybe a "Lite Version" of the Gnome Software that is used on other XFCE distros (such as Xubuntu and Zorin OS Lite), or maybe something similar to Linux Mint's app center (which is the same across all Linux Mint versions, Cinnamon, XFCE, Mate and LMDE).
Anyway, I feel they're on the right track in becoming a solid option. It has evolved and is evolving quite nicely, with a pretty and familiar interface and good functions/resources.

Zorin 17.1 OS did a much better job for with their integration of Wine, Bottles and PipeWire so Windows users will be able to keep on working with Windows software that do not have a Linux version.

Why would I go for Linux Lite based on UBUNTU vs the Lununtu version? 🤔
I use Zorin OS 17.1 Lite (Xfce) by the way because of the visual is more pleasant

Prefiero ASMI linux, xfce sin snap o flatpaks. Basada en Ubuntu 24.04, pruébala desde un USB en vivo, es muy rápida.

When are linux proponents going to realize the basic requirements of desktop users? Like work8ng Bluetooth? Like working with ntfs files? Like playing protected content, etc and on and on? I would switch to Linux if it did those but not.

When you learn to search for compatible no closed hardware, when you learn about ntfs3g, and when you learn that a software publication por a distinctive platform, don't depends on OS. Developers.

OSS community should streamline their focus rather than creating 1000 more crappy distros and 1000 more desktop environments, if the intention is to ever compete with Windows and MacOS.
Linux fully loaded versions doesn't work without niggles, forget about Linux Lite.
Fractional scaling is crap except KDE+xorg, wayland has so manu bugs. Bluetooth is a hit or miss. No DRM supported content - Cannonical or RHEL or System76 can make it happen.
Most non-tech users don't give 2 hoots about configurability when Linux itself is so fragile. Neither do they care about philosophy or anything else. Breaking Linux install is so much easier than Windows/MacOS.
Linux fanboys lives in some utopia which does not exist.

Really? That's your stance on ALL LINUX DISTROS? You think Zorin Pro is better than Debian? Better than Fedora? Better than Arch? Find a school bus in the morning and just get on it, son.
