    I don’t think that the problem is about where the music comes from. It’s about calling Hip Hop either a musical genre and that only, or a culture. If you view Hip Hop as just black music than by all means acknowledge that it was sampling all types of music and that was the issue with even black musicians of the past to give it credit as real music anyway. But if you want to call it a culture, the music, fashion, dance, dj’ing, it’s all multi-cultive. To use the N word as an example is horrible because that’s a white man’s word. It’s like saying basketball is a black man’s sport when it was created by a white man. And so was vinyl.

      And if you want get technical basketball is a white man sport the difference is you don’t acknowledge hiphop as black invention it’s because it is.I have no problem with saying basketball is a white man sport that’s difference between us and you folks.

      @@jerseyboyantbrooks2824 - you do understand how long it took for Hip Hop to be viewed as a musical genre and why, right? It was and still is sample heavy. Meaning, a lot of music that was sampled to create certain sounds didn’t come from just jazz or R&B. It came from sounds all across the world and different sub cultures. It doesn’t have just one particular sound, just like how America doesn’t have just one particular look. I’m not taking away anything from black America because the experiences and art forms from past have unfortunately been abused and torn apart by white America. I understand what Hip Hop has done for black youths in America. In my eyes, Hip Hop has lasted for so long because it’s a CULTURE that didn’t involve just music. It represented NY and its people to the fullest. And those people came from all nationalities of the world.

    • @jerseyboyantbrooks2824

    • @battle619
      @battle619 4 місяці тому

      @@jerseyboyantbrooks2824 - it’s not. Personally, I’ve always viewed Hip Hop as a NY thing and not a racial thing. It’s very NY culture, and that consists of many nationalities involved in making it a culture. I always reference “Style Wars” as a great documentary that shows who was involved and the times of the mid-late 70’s. Hearing from the dancers, stylists, and graffiti artists is just amazing. Seeing what cultural backgrounds they have just shows how it was in the beginning. Extremely diverse. I will say that black America definitely represents Hip Hop at its best. As just music is concerned, I don’t. Especially if you want to view Hip Hop as a culture. I’m just speaking about Hip Hop music. Not other genres of music where yes, it is black America at its finest and comes from that. When it comes to Hip Hop it can get kind of difficult to say everyone else that’s not African American is a guest. I honestly appreciate this debate. I respect your opinion to the max. You’re making me think in a mature manner and not in a hateful way. Your approach to this is great keep up the good work
