The legend John Peel was the only bbc dj to give bands like penetration airtime. A boom box a c90 l tdk cassette on play to tape all his show. Those were the nights!!
Yeh, I still got my old John Peel tapes from the 70s. Luckily I used TDK SA tapes, so the quality was good. But I haven't played them for decades, so I don't know if they still play ok. It's a shame to think, as we're all getting old, once we're gone our stuff will end up in skips. 🚑⚰⚱
+David. Williams Recording these tracks actually reminded me of when I used to sit up until midnight recording the John Peel sessions. I still remember that so clearly. I never imagined that one day I would be able to record them live on a little camera, then let the rest of the world watch it. The 70's was a different world. People make documentaries slagging off those days, but they were great times, my memories are great ones. There was a lot wrong, but there is now too. That's life.
As a young man/boy of thirteen I use to love listening to John Peel ten til midnight. I feel so sorry for my boys (even though one is a musician) because they will never experience what we did while growing up
Great voice.
