    Cool truck!
    I was into RC cars and trucks 20 years ago and I haven't I haven't paid much attention to them since. When I saw the axles on that truck it blew my mind, I thought that was so cool looking.

    Mine is sorta highly customized but it's just an Axial Wraith, I recommend your lhs if possible but online try TCS crawlers, RC4wd, RPP hobby or Tower Hobbies.
    It's electric... with batteries, charger and mods it'll be about $1000.00USD
    Thanks for watching!

    They don't make them much larger in a 2.2 rim, RC4WD has some that are .5" or so taller but their compound is not comparable to the G8's on the rocks and the Pitbulls don't look scale enough for me... Thanks for watching!

    I was trying to see where you were going that... yes I wish the rear was centered and there is a guy building custom axles for it like that. I was thinking the offset 60 was used in the rear of short wheelbase rigs like the 80's military blazers but I don't remember anymore. Thanks for watching/commenting though!

    @GTA2511 I'm very happy with it, miss having drag brake but waterproof's a big plus. If you gear too high it will cog and have current draw problems. I recommend 14-18t pins with the 87 spur on 3s... approximately 20mph top speed with oodles of torque.

    Well I drove around in the woods til I found some real nasty muck, loaded up 4 5gal buckets and started with that. I later added #222 "X" Clay from Columbus Clay. I mix the clay in a bucket with a drywall mud mixer, really really slippery. Sand just eats bearings and small pebbles end up adding traction. You can't let the clay dry out either if you want max performance. I scoop out the bulk of the muck and store it in buckets with lids. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any further ?

    Thanks! Whiskey's 100% pure mutt :D best guesses are Beagle-Chow, he has black spots on his tongue, spotted feet and is basically the size of a Beagle. Sometimes he's hopelessly too smart for his own good. He mastered the magnetic latch on the treat cabinet when he was about 3 months old. He also looks a lot like a Corgi, someday I'll spring for a DNA test. Doesn't matter to me, he is my best buddy... I'm glad some asshole abandoned him so I could find him, they didn't deserve such a great dog!

    @jmloudon Super Swampers are one of the most popular 1:1 offroad tires, they just work well in a variety of conditions in real life. People have been running them since the 70's.
    For a 2.2 rig IMO they're the most scale looking, I do wish I had some of RC4WD's TSL Boggers to test in this muck. The Bogger is king when it comes to mud.

    I just posted a vid in the responses section, 2012 teaser... there's some paddle action in that. I kept stripping the hexes out of the wheels so I was having crawler Calvin of CW Crawlers make me some custom wheels... after 7 months of waiting I bought a cnc cutter and started making my own. Took a few months but I'm really happy with the outcome... 2013 will be the year of the paddle!

    Well, I run the Traxxas motor and esc which is 100% waterproof out of the box. For years I ran my electrics inside of balloons. Now I have wp'd the receiver. To answer your question based on most current RTR's giving that they have a water resistant radio box, yes they can be spayed off with the hose. HOWEVER the battery should be removed and care should be taken to not try to force water into any of the electric bits. Let dry overnight before running and use some WD-40 on the bearings.

  • @speedweigand
    @speedweigand  11 років тому

    I use a drywall mud mixer with 18V dewalt :D, thanks for the comment and the view! I have a new location that's by the river with real naturally occurring nastiness, hope to shoot some footage there soon with the club I I run with. The pit was originally just to get the tires wet so the rockpiles were more interesting... then it snowballed.

  • @speedweigand
    @speedweigand  12 років тому

    I would love to go to a TTC, might just have to have one around here. The guys around here though have crawlers and wouldn't dream of getting them dirty. 10 minutes? I've driven in that box for days man. I live in the city, so after work lets say I have an hour to kill, I can either drive 45minutes and look for mud or step out back and play in the box. If I lived in the sticks I'd have much better videos no doubt. Thanks for watching though! Check out the suspension testing vid from the river.

    It's not too bad, it's worse cleaning the patio lol We use simple green and a hose with warm water. Using a big paint brush to knock loose the tough stuff. We actually wash them over a big tote, after a day or so the mud settles. Then I drain off the water and reuse the mud!

  • @speedweigand
    @speedweigand  11 років тому

    I did the math and if a real one weighs 4000lbs then I have a scale 841hp's ;) I don't crawl much really, usually I'm blasting up hills and wash outs. Thanks for commenting!

  • @speedweigand
    @speedweigand  12 років тому

    @Eric98683 Diluted Simple Green and a hose, then I blow off the excess water and follow with a healthy dose of WD-40 on all the bearings and metal bits. After letting the WD soak, I blow off the excess and wipe down the remaining for a factory shine. I normally spray the WD after the wheels are off, I've read that it can swell certain tires but have not seen this myself. Thanks for watching!

  • @speedweigand
    @speedweigand  12 років тому

    @GIofUSA I'm not sure what to expect with a stick pack... but 2s geared @16/87 should work well for you. The stock drivetrain is pretty brittle so if you don't want to chance it I'd run in training mode. I still use training mode for HC crawling days with 3s packs and really like it. Gearing is important, if you run it with the stk 20/80 I'd expect you to break a driveshaft or rear locker within a couple of hours even on 2s. Thanks for watching!

    I have 2 Axial Wraiths, an Axial Scorpion, a Honcho, 2 HPI Mini Trophies, a Losi SCTe, a Baja 5T, an HPI Super Nitro Rally, HPI Nitro MT4, and a Traxxas Hawk2... There's also a Slash 4x4 that was left at my house and is sorta mine now I guess.

    Yes and no, mine is worse than normal. I run the sweet RC4wd ARB diff cover and to make the letters rightside up you have to flip the diff gears. Doing this couples the rotational force of the motor and trans turning, and the torque of the axles in the same direction. Stock the forces are countering each other so the twist is much less severe. Now days I run a rear swaybar to correct this. I could flip the gears back but I like how it pulls the left front up first just like a real one. Thanks!

    Via Wiki - Mud bogging (also known as mud racing, mud running, mud drags, or mudding) is a form of off-road motorsport popular in Canada and the United States in which the goal is to drive a vehicle through a pit of mud of a set length. Winners are determined by the distance traveled through the pit. However, if several vehicles are able to travel the entire length, the time taken to traverse the pit will determine the winner. Hmmm that sounds just like what we have here.

    Thanks, It's about 60percent clay at this point... I mix it in a 5 gallon bucket, 3-4gal at a time with a drywall mud mixer. In this video after adding 15 gallons of muck I topped it off with water and let it settle 24hrs for that virgin look :D

    Thumbs up ! Looks like fun , I'm looking to buy an RC car with that style look urs has but to ride only like in the grass/dirt I want one that goes fast , not a crawler/mudder, what do you recommend ?

    With the tall tires I can only really run up to 20/87 before the motor overheats, but it'll goe @25mph. You have to keep in mind the weight of the Wraith 540 motors were intended to push around typical 1/10 scale RC's which normally weigh @5.5lbs or less. I'd consider Blue light at 8lbs, RC's in the 8lb range are typically 8th scale 4wd buggies usually powered with a 550 sized motor and 4-6s. Blue weighs 16lbs after a couple of passes and at the end of the day pushes 20lbs

    The mud on the patio is the worse part, it gets everywhere. The trucks a 100% waterproof so it's just a matter of blasting it with the hose and spraying it down with WD40 afterwards. Thanks for the comment!
