Julia, you inspire me to reach beyond my limitations and create what's in my heart ❤. Thank you and please don't stop sharing your talent with us. Blessings, (dare I say) my friend.
Wow your brain must go nonstop! Having just discovered you, I have to tell you again how much I enjoy everything about your videos! You are making the long dreary pandemic much easier to bear!
Hi Debbie, Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. UA-cam has been such a wonderful place to share ideas. I love this sewing community!
Hi Julia it is Friday night and I am tucked up in bed and up popped your vlog. What joy😃😃. These fabulous belts remind me of the 1960s/1970s. Believe it or not I longed to be a flower power girl and live in San Francisco, absolutely no clue how to get there or where I was going to live or support myself 😀😀. I used to wear bells sewn around the bottom of my jeans and wore the shortest mini dresses my Dad would allow. The gorgeous belts remind me of my favourite song at the time, San Francisco by Scott McKenzie, we were all mad about him in the U.K. Happy memories Julia, I think my girls would love to wear these. Hope you are all safe and well Julia, we are still in lockdown in Wales, cannot wait to be set free. Thank you for keeping us all going, big hugs and loves xxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘🌟❤️💐
Hi Dorothy, I had to laugh at your comment. It was fun growing up in the 60's-70's. Remember the fashions? We went from minis to maxis. And all the wild prints. Sometimes I think I am still stuck in that decade. Have a great week! Julia
stitchesbyjulia Hi Julia I am there with you, it was quite an age of innocence when you look at youngsters today but I was always happy and felt free - well as free as my lovely Dad would allow😂😂. Keep safe my dear Friend thinking of you and your beautiful family. Big hugs and loves xxxxxxx Dorothy 😘🙋🏻❤️🌟💐💐💐🇺🇸🇬🇧
Aww Julia. You make my heart sing! As a young girl at a Convent school in South Africa many years ago. The nuns used to make me sit on my left hand and write with my right hand. Something to do with the Latin 'sinister ' . So l was told that l wouldn't amount to much if l used my left hand. How times have changed. And then returning to the UK as a teenager. Then moving to Canada with 2 children and best beloved. I find your tube video and slowly lm beginning to create things that l never thought possible. I love love love this community. Thank you for your awesome teaching. I wish you posted things to Canada. But nevermind. I still love all that you do. Thank you and stay safe everyone. Alison from Nova Scotia xoxoxo
Hi Alison, Thank you so much for sharing a piece of your story. My mom was born a lefty but was switched over. So strange that was done. I started crafting at a very young age and we didn't own a left handed scissors, so I started cutting with my right hand from the get go. I still only cut with my right hand but everything else is done with my left. Our brains are a powerful thing and can adapt! Thank you so much for your support. Julia
So funny you say that about being left handed. I was born in 1963 and my grandma thought my life would be harder, lol. But because of trying to turn me I can do many things with both hands now, like cutting! She was successful for most other things besides writing and eating tho. You definitely aren't alone! Brenda
Hi Julia! I was just thinking the other day that I should make a fabric belt to go with my denim shorts, and here you have a wonderful video made with complete instructions--thank you! I, too, am a leftie; we lefties need to stick together. LOVE the barcode fabric. The black and white fabrics here and there make all your colored fabrics just pop. Thanks again for another great video. Stay safe and healthy!
Thanks for inspiring me. I enjoy your projects and admire your talent. I made a set of the fish coasters last week and they turned out great. Next I’m tackling a appliquéd modified shirt. You are so generous for sharing your ideas❤️
Hi Mary, I am so glad you tried the coasters! I am working on a batch of "camper" designs for coasters and placemats. Great gift ideas too! Thanks for watching, Julia
I’m glad you shared your belt. I might try it. Really hot here in Florida. We also had tough news this week with more than 3 days adding covid-19 cases over 3000 new cases each day
Seriously super cute idea. They would look so good with denim, I'm a denim kind of girl :) & you've just given me another idea to use on my upcycled jackets. Thanks for yet another awesome video! You have the neatest idea's. 🌟
Hi, I'm so glad you liked this project. I've made many of these belts, it's such a great way to use up scraps- limited possibilities. I love denim too! Thanks for watching, Julia
Oh my goodness, I love this. You are a creative soul. This would be great for straps for bags, as well. I absolutely LOVE it!!! The layers are what is so lovely!!! Thanks soooo much, Julia. May God continue to bless you & everything you put your hands to...& that's ALOT!!! Hugs.
Julia I just love watching you create. I totally get the left hand issue, as I am left handed. When I create Items I have to stop and consider how it would work for the right handed customer. Thank you for making note of that in your video. Stay Safe, to you and yours. Look forward to your next creative video.
We lefties need to stick together! There is a few things that I have to think about when making items to sell. Most are right-handed after all! Thanks so much for watching, Julia
Just ordered all my stuff for this! You are so awesome for sharing with us! This will be the 2nd tutorial I’ve used of yours! Keep them coming creative lady!!
Hi Julia - These are so fun and whimsical. Reminds me of the 70s. Times were so much better then. Love how you used scraps to make these beautiful belts. Love all of the pictures you included. Love & Hugs! Stay safe. 💕☀️🦜
Hi Pam, The 70's were the best! Remember all the fashions and the skirt lengths? We had minis and middies and maxis! And the prints! Hope you are doing well. Hugs, Julia
Hi, Thanks so much for watching! I don't know If I ever mentioned it to you but my Grandma's name was Frieda. My other Grandma's name was Franc. Yep-Franc and Frieda. Both started with a "Fr"! Have a great day. Julia
Hi Julia, I love your belts, they turned out really cute! But everything you do turns out really beautiful, I love all your stuff! Thanks for sharing your talent with us! Stay safe. Xoxo 😘
Those are all so great! I love the other ideas for using as bag handles too! I need to replace my crossbody bag and this would be a great way to replace that super narrow strap. 🤩 I can't stop watching your videos! 😆 (and we are Green Bay fans even tho we live in AZ! 🤫) Brenda
I just love your work and feel inspired but that's as far as I get. Well did try a couple pieces. More creative than I thought. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and inspiring me. Sure needed a stress reliever today.
Such a colorful fun idea, Julia. I am not a person who should wear belts however. Lol. But I could make a strap for something, like one of my canvas grocery bags. Great ideas here. Thanks.
I found your channel, subscribed and enjoying watching your videos. I haven't sewn for too many years but, you've got me excited. I can't wait to try a few of your ideas adding my own twist.
I do love these belts Julia ! They look wonderful and colourful and everything. I will have to try one eventually. There are a few left-handers among us, great tip about phrases. I never thought about that, thanks for sharing. Always looking forward to your videos.
Another wonderfully fun project💕 I’m not a belt wearer, but I do have a few dresses that these would look fabulous on! I think you convinced me😉. Quick questions pls... what speed and length is your free motion set at? All of your stitches are perfectly even length like you might be using a stitch regulator, but I’m sure it is just that your so talented. Is this video at real time speed on the free motion part? Your stitching is so smooth and effortless I am wondering the trick to that if it is.... I can’t seem to “meander” like that and would appreciate any tips💕 Thanks again for bringing smiles to our faces...Stay Safe!♥️
Hi Nancy, Here is a video that I did showing actual speed. ua-cam.com/video/7H6uJtOHTJU/v-deo.html Most of my videos are sped up to 2x. My stitch length is set to "0" . One of the hardest parts of FM stitching is the movement. Keep it moving. You can start out slow but keep it moving at a steady pace. Your stitches will improve! It does take practice but is so worth the effort! Hope some of this helps. Thanks for watching, Julia
stitchesbyjulia Thank you so much for this other video link! That was perfect that was exactly what I needed to see! I guess I’m not doing so bad after all 💯😉🤪
Hi Brenda, No stitch regulator just lots of practice LOL! It's important to move your fabric at a steady pace. You can sew slow or fast but keep your fabric moving. Thanks so much for watching, Julia
Hi Carrie, I do prewash all the fabrics so I suppose they can be washed. I would put it in a laundry bag. The buckle will clunk around. They are fun to make! I have a bunch cut out and ready to go. Now to find the time!
Hi Julia, I see that you created this tape Five years ago and wonders if you will get this comment - I noticed the printed labels on your strips - please be so kind as to share with me what inkjet printer you are using. Thank you, Bets

no waist here either but I love the belts. Purse straps???
I had to laugh at your comment! I am built like a pole, no waist, no hips, no bust :( As I age the pole just gets rounder! Have a great day, Julia

@@stitchesbyjulia wow! I already knew you were amazing but now I'm even more impressed!!! Love your work!!!

Hi, I use a HP Officejet Pro 8610.
Where do you shop for such neat material? ❤
I shop fabrics at my local quilt shop, thrift stores and flea markets.
Is the variegated thread you used a polyester or embroidery thread?
Hi, it is cotton. This is the one I use:: amzn.to/3fGKm7U
