    Looks like a lack of priodic inspections. All the oil came back at once and Hydraulicly locked the crankshaft. Liquid floodback will push that oil out as will continued low pressure operation.
    A great teaching video on semi-hermetic failure troubleshooying.. Normally along with the compressor comes a contactor, crankcase heater, a suction line filter, more to stop debris from entering the new compressor. Complete walk through of all the controls.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 місяців тому

      Oil wasn’t on the floor so it’s likely pumped it’s self out into the system. With longer run times it will come back. Monitoring is the only thing you can do with a little system like this. This is why racks have oil separators.

    • @HVACRSurvival

  • @richardharmon874
    @richardharmon874 7 місяців тому +2

    So do you install new compressor with full oil? How do you know the old compressor oil isn't in evaporators?you can try flush lines but then you need to recover whole system

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  7 місяців тому +1

      You have to install the compressor with oil at the normal level but would need to stop back and monitor the oil and oil acid levels. This could require oil to be removed or changed. This place was 50 miles from my area so it likely won’t happen. We haven’t heard back yet about authorization so they likely are going to keep being cheap and have it happen again. As you can See the store is low budget food with low budget maintenance.

    Out of curiosity, how many hours does it take to dissassemble and and install a new compressor take? Also, is this compressor complete junk at this point or will it end up with being rebuilt and resold as a refurb down the road?

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  6 місяців тому +1

      The factory will rebuild it, not us. Depending the distance, the job is from the shop plus the labor that is calculated that’s how we would come up with the price changing one of those compressors doesn’t take long because you can valve off the high side and low side and just unbold it, but there could be other issues, there could be pieces of stuff in the refrigerant lines that gets caught into other components, but we usually will put in there a clause that says those are extra cost that may happen, but not covered under this quote.

    • @HVACRSurvival

      It depends on what I’m listening on. Sometimes it sounds ok on the phone and sounds bad on the computer. But it’s 90 plus db in the room, with that set up I was using normally does good in that environment because the mic is pointed at me. But there are times when it’s stationary that I don’t switch the mic because it’s a short sentence and I could forget to switch the mic back and that’s how one of the more recent videos has really bad audio.

    R.I.P. compressor(whole rack is clearly spanked out). if they're individual circuits then replace compressor, install giant filters and move on. if combined/grouped, oh dear lord help them.(remember that was College engineering(long ago) not much has changed, do you trust them as a working field grunt? 🧐🥳🥸
