Thank You. My 9th Anniversary is next month. 9th Anniversary Symbols Traditional: Pottery/WillowModern: LeatherFlower: PoppyGemstone: Lapis Lazuli/Amethyst/Green Spinel I Gathered Willow last week and have a few Veg Tan hides in the Studio, will be making a Pottery Vase(Using Sculpey to .as I don't have a Kiln to fire Pottery) with Amethyst inlay, and a Leather Poppies with Willow Stems. Thank You for the Tutorial on making a Leather Poppy. Much Appreciated. Might use Aniline Dyes(or expired Tattoo Ink and fine tip brush?) and let it get good and Dry then Seal it with Fiebing's Aussie. Have a heat gun with high and low settings, will play around with it and see what kind of results I can get. Fabricated, Honed and Stropped every last tool in the Studio and ready to get busy. I generally only make Original projects of my own design and my own tools start to finish, I Build Kilts, and custom Sporrans, Bags, Backpacks, Nålbinding items and hand carved needles(Wrote and Illustrating the book on it), etc... Been making Tools for Three years to get Studio completed and ready for fabrication of whatever suits our Fancy and outfit all the children and Unhomed people in our community; but your Poppy is Perfect and She will absolutely Love and Cherish it. I will credit You for Poppy Design. I like your work. Liked and Subscribed. I Will be back to visit and check out your other videos...I like your Style. Thank You again, Eric
+Mary Grinter all leather is tanned. but only one type of leather will work for shaping. It has to be vegetable tanned, sometimes called tooling leather. They next thing that is important is the heat. Technically it has to reach 180 degrees Fahrenheit to heat form. A blow dryer will not get it hot enough. It has to be a heat gun or toaster over. On very thin leather it is difficult to get it to that temperature without burning it. I made some yesterday and I actually let the petal start to toast but just barely. Then shape it with your hands while it is hot to the touch. Good luck.
Drawbridge Props & Armoury the leather I'm using is from a bag of remnants that is already stained (sorry is that the word? instead of tanned? I just mean it's already colored) and finished. Yeh I was using a blow dryer. Could I use my oven?
this looks amazing! you should definitely have more views :) looking forward to more videos!
Amazing work! So pretty.
Thank you! 😊

+Eric Gee have an amazing anniversary!!!
Thanks so much for the great video. I liked you on facebook too. Do you have a link for the pins you used?
Those are 16ga brass escutcheon pins. This year I used sew on brooch pins. They work much better.
I'm proud of the comment section for not having "careful when touching those nuts" as the top comments.
Okay I tried very hard to make this today and I can't get my leather to warp shape!! Is it possibly bc my leather is already tanned and finished??

I also tried a candle :p
yes you can use your oven. If it has been commercially dyed and finished it is likely the wrong type of leather and will not heat harden. sorry.
who has these tools lying around at home? no fuckimg one
LEVI tell me if im getting annoying
LOL. Not at all. You're probably my biggest fan. After my mom, and Koreen of course:)
