to this day i have not played a game with better menu music, and good menu music is music that you can listen on, and on, and it never gets annoying, you just stop noticing it.
It's not just him who composed music. Saki Kaskas also composed music providing guitar riffs for Rom and also composed great tunes by himself. Not fair not to mention him I think
i always kept my Z3 for a lil money maker to use to make more money to buy add-ons for other cars. I'd always sell others but always keep the Z3 just for financing lmao
You remember when in police chase mode there was no CLK-GTR available ? I mean there was only Maclaren F1 to choose but not CLK-GTR , strange , I never found out why
@@pillopillo297 I tend to emulate a lot of the Gran Turismo games, they have a very similar money-making career progression. Gran Turismo 4 probably was the peak imo. There's also Super Woden GP 2 on the pc, it is top down but it has that sort of career money-making progression you see in High Stakes.
Back in those days I couldn't even afford a PC at home and still remember visiting a friends home just to play this game in 2 Player split mode the moment the menu music kicked in we would just forget about everything else. So Nostalgic and by far the best ever NFS game ever created in the history.
Why don't they bring car games like this back again, with the cool techno music and everything :-( ...... Rom De Prisco should mix more techno music for todays car games... and for future car games as well. Todays games, and especially car games of today have stupid Hip Hop and R&B music in that we listen to everyday of our lives. Hip Hop and R&B music gets irritating and old after a while.. but techno music.. will never ever reach boundry coolness. THATS COZ TECHNO MUSIC IS THE BEST!!! and so is Rom De Prisco!!!
Yeah!!! This is probably the most awesome all in one collection in video gathering all the menu themes of this game!!! To me, this video was like getting in a time machine. Such memories from when I used to play this marvel on my PSX when I was between 14 and 16 years old... Apart from the music tracks, those menus too were awesome. It's just unbelievable how they managed to put those moving square frames in just the limited hardware of a PSX, a whole demonstration of programming skills.

From switching from low beams to high beams while driving at night (such a detail was very nice for those times) to constantly turning on the Calista music and liking the yellow color of Porsche 911. This game has the most legendary music ever and I love it. Saki Kasksas will always have a place..Unfortunately, today's car games have never been able to achieve the quality of this game that made NFS into NFS. I think we should form a group and express this to the necessary places, maybe with our voices this game and its music can be adapted to today.
I just finished playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit and I couldn't help but think through the whole of that game, that there wouldn't of been that game if it weren't for this one. This game, due to it being PS1 and people consider it as being crappy by Today's standards doesn't get a lot of credit but this game remains highly important in the life of Need for Speed, and I think all the Hot Pursuits owe themselves to this one in particular.
Well, actually the first Hot Pursuit started it. The pc version allowed you to play both as cops or racers unlike the ps1 version. High Stakes was kind of a sequel to it. The PC version of HS is basically a recycled HP with career system and damage, no wonder we didnt get another High Stakes
I genuinely remember hogging the main menu just like this and either starting at it getting lost in the music and graphics or just leaving it as a background while I read car magazines - man those were the days, just pure nostalgia ❤️

This was one of the best games of the Need For Speed saga. When they switched to the Underground series they just ruined the NFS brand, they destroyed its spirit. This NFS High Stakes (Road Challenge in my country) wasn't the best driving game for PSX (Gran Turismo 2 was), but it was probably the one that brought the greatest emotions and feelings to the player. In those times, there was kind of a fight between PSX and Nintendo 64. Well, only for this game PSX would be already 20 times better.
