I grew up with 6 women in the house. 1 mother and 5 sisters. One sister has a many accolades and medals from her time in 2003 era Iraq. The other started a small farm. The rest have various successful careers. All of them are married and love being mothers. Somehow they managed to do all of these things without government intervention or help from the feminist movement. I can personally attest to their happiness. Especially when compared to the typical feminist. Women don't need help. They're fine. They can figure it out on their own.

I miss the times when being a tomboy was a concept no one gave a second thought to. Yes, I'm female and I'm fine with that, yes, I generally prefer to do more "male considered activities", I like DIY, I like my videogames, I've only ever worn trousers, no one touches that bbq but yours truly and yet in recent years it feels like an attack from all sides. I recently saw an episode of 'Have Gun - Will Travel' that delt with this very issue.
Paladin is chasing a female outlaw with a hefty price on her head, he captures her and they are hold up for the night in this abandoned cabin. Halfway through the night she tries to jump Paladin and escape, but fails, she goes on a tangent about how she's never been treated well by men ever in her life and Paladin, whose patience has worn thin at this point, simply answers, "Did you ever think that maybe people would treat you like a women, if you simply acted like one?"

Worth mentioning that this is a 1950s Western serial rather than some weebery. If you're thinking of "Ella West", we have this lovely piece of trivia:
The lines of poetry Paladin actually quotes to Ella are: first, an English translation of lines from Goethe that Dante Gabriel Rossetti used to compliment his celebrated painting "Lady Lilith", and second, from John Keats' ballad "La Belle Dame Sans Merci".

I could not give less of a shit if someone is a “bad man” or a “bad woman” so long as they are a good person. Obviously this female outlaw saying she’s been treated badly by men doesn’t give her a get out of jail free card, and she should be held responsible for her actions. But “people would treat you like a woman if you acted like one?” to counter her saying how men have treated her badly? A woman - or man - shouldn’t have to adhere to gender roles to not be treated badly. We are all people before we are any gender. If she was being a shitty person and people responded appropriately then that’s fine, but if people were treating her badly simply because she was an individual person who didn’t happen to conform to certain gender roles imposed upon her by society then that is, in fact, sexist.

The dress thing is so true. I decided to never wear pants a few years ago. I decided this because I felt more myself in them and always felt blah and frumpy in pants but sometimes I wore them thinking they were more practical or because I thought it was strange to wear a skirt/dress just to take the kids to the park or run to the grocery etc. One day I felt so frumpy in my leggings while out I said I don't care, I'm going to wear a dress no matter how strange it is and I found it life changing too. Everyone treats you more respectfully, almost like men in their suits, and I personally feel better about myself. It feels like I'm treating myself with dignity and I feel more feminine, more comfortable in my skin, I don't know just more authentic and me.
I dress in a vaguely '50s style usually with circle skirts made from heavy fabrics like denim, duck or canvas that I made myself (these have more body without needing a petticoat), a tank top or fitted v neck t shirt, and a cropped cardigan on top. Flats or Keds if I will be chasing the kids. So it's not very different to modern clothes except for the skirt and I even wear leggings or tights underneath too (with boots) in the winter. If I really need to be sporty they sell running skirts and I wear one of those. It's not as inconvenient or weird as I feared it would be and I have never once recieved a weird look or comment. If anything women compliment my handmade skirts sometimes 😊 I am even still wearing my skirts in pregnancy; the great thing about a skirt is you can just pull it up above the bump! Highly recommend if it appeals 👍

This is all true and very interesting. I was a model in the 90s. It was unhealthy torment for me to keep my body at that weight, but I thought that was what boys liked. That it would get me approval. Instead I got ignored by boys and teased relentlessly by my (fat) mother and relatives for being skinny. Now that I take care of myself for me, don't care what people think about my appearance, and am 40 lbs heavier, I turn far more heads. I'm very natural, don't color or style my hair, don't wear makeup, am over 40. Get compliments almost every day. Because I'm happy and healthy and confident in my abilities. I'm useful. And above all, I'm kind. The most beautiful woman in the world becomes hideous if she's an awful person. A very average woman becomes a great beauty when she has the non physical qualities that make people love her ❤️

Definitely true. There was a woman I worked with about ten years ago now at a hospital, and while she wasn't stunningly attractive, probably fairly average to be honest, virtually every single man in the building fancied her. It was definitely down to how she moved and how she spoke, and just how pleasant and fun she was to be around. On the other side, there were some stunning looking women who were just outright unpleasant to even bother to talk to. Charisma plays a much bigger part than it gets credit for.

When will women learn that so much of what makes them beautiful _is_ tied to inner beauty? When one is living well/genuinely a (more or less) good person, these two things complement each other. More importantly, they are more likely to draw positive attention that runs deeper than pure physical attraction, ie the kind that fosters meaningful/long-term romantic connections. In contrast, those who actively reject beauty display arrogance rather than confidence, and over time this takes a significant toll on their bodies.
Outer ugliness is all too often a reflection of deeper maladies of the psyche and soul.

It’s such a cynical and arrogant viewpoint to assume all tradition that evolved over thousands of years isn’t LARGELY the most pragmatic course, learned through trial and error. You're right, but a trap that conservatives can fall into is thinking that all, or even most tradition is good and deserves to be around, or they treat tradition with too much respect and aren't flexible enough to adapt when the world inevitably throws curveballs at them.
Also, I believe you're confusing tradition as whole with western tradition. There are jungle tribes with traditions that involve jumping off a tower with a rope tied to your penis, or pedophilic relationships between men and boys. Those traditions are thousands of years old, yet they're clearly not the most pragmatic or optimal course. There must be a balance, as in all things. Too much tradition is just as bad as too much progression. We would have realized that had we lived in the 40's and 50's. The hippies didn't just come out of nowhere with absolutely no valid points or grievances.

Then I went to an anime convention and one of the vendors was selling corsets. There are no modern demands for women to wear corsets. The women flocked to it. They put them on. One of the helpers was a woman who would put her foot in the other woman's back and pull back the strings as tight as she could. It tightened the belly and raised the breast and made the chest look more impressive.
The women wanted pictures some of them were buying them. They were $90 a piece. They had metal bars in them and lots of stitching.

When I was a child and teenager I was teased a lot and told that I was a stupid girl and basically worthless. I would say this is a common experience that girls have. What ever we do as females is harshly criticized including how much make up we wear and when we choose not to we are told that we don't care how we look etc. Lots of women want to escape womanhood and the overt sexualization that we experience that starts when we start breast development.

Funny thing is that female attractiveness to males have been measured.
    1. The waist to hip ratio should be around 0.67 to 0.80, 0.7 being the most attractive on average.
    2. In general for both sexes, people find good personal hygeine attractive.
    3. In general both sexes are attracted to symmetry.
    4. Good health signals, like rosy cheeks, good skin, good nails, good teeth, full hair, etc.
    5. Women that wear less make-up are also more attractive (it has to do with previous point).
    6. A good rack (signals capability to feed children).
    7. A good posture ( displays good skeletal health and ability to carry children).
This is it. Men are very visual creatures. It's coded in to our minds, and it is pretty objective, hence why men almost always agree on attractiveness. Please do not shoot the messenger. I know the list may sound like something for picking out race horses, but these are the physical standards, there are also some emotional standards that men find attractive in women, but those are less researched and in my experience a little more subjective to each man, although the ability to make a good sandwich is kind of universal.

This human-bearing and biological woman's empowerment has come from 8 years of hard physical, intellectual and emotional work with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), FMS (Fibromyalgia) and debilitating side effects from having these to lifting myself from out of physically needing to use a scooter, to using a rollator, to using a cane and now walking completely unaided.
I've learnt how to do an honest self physical assessment, daily, in order to effectively committ myself to a task list. The often hardship of extreme fatigue remains to be a lingering challenge for me to find ways of adapting or overcoming. I've had to make the conscientious choice to spend energy for the day to either focus on long-term benefits of exercising and building muscle stamina and strength OR on short term and often no discernible benefit of making myself esthetically pleasing by way of shaving body hair, wearing shoes that impede my mobility/increase pain and wearing clothes that make me more uncomfortable and thereby delay or impede any improvement - and considering my physical mobility challenges likely to go unnoticed socially except as an invalid and not worth of much appraisal. (I've experienced being socially ostracized in the first part of my healing journey - and it is very much an unfortunate human characteristic that discourages one from even wanting to effort themselves of self-improvement.)
Now that I am mobile and have started to interact with the world around me more socially, I'm also able to include the socially esthetic grooming practices of body hair removal. Rediscovering my femininity and beauty was also a pleasure. Yet I've also learned to be okay with it if I'm not able to do this all the time. Nurturing a healthy self evaluation and perception has definitely empowered me to be a more robust, authentic and productive member of society.

I don’t wear makeup, I tie up my hair, I wear jeans and T-shirts, sneakers. I’m a tomboy through and through.
It makes me wonder if I should be a bit more feminine. I bought some dresses to wear to church (I think it matters to dress properly for church) so I guess that’s a start.
This is the part where I feel conflicted about gender norms. I’ve dabbled with looking pretty and I just don’t like the attention. I’m an introvert…. I prefer to be alone. I don’t need dudes coming up to me to try and talk… especially when I’m married.
It’s a conflict in me. I don’t want to be ugly but I don’t want the attention. =\

Beauty is a gift and attention is the burdun you bear with it. Just be friendly and humble and if needed, dismissive. It will help if your husband is with you too.

I am just tired of so many women expecting men to fall at their feet and serve them just for being them. In a real relationship both parties most give of themselves for the benefit of the other but most women today expect to live free of any responsibility and be revered at the same time.

Notice how even the "positive example" you present with Evie is still focused on power.
Making women rediscover men as a useful tool isn't exactly motivating me to get married, Carl. Maybe that's what you want to be. But the more often you prove that the only way you can convince women to give a shit about the state of relationships and gender roles is to show them how _they_ can benefit, the more hopeless the thought of ever being seen as a human being by women becomes.
Your offer to women is "trust me, you'll like being cared for and loved", your offer to young men is "trust me, you'll love being drained, exploited and used."

Welcome to being a man. Throughout history we've been the expendable ones. This is no new or fresh idea. Our sole purpose is to be able to provide in some way or another. We are tools with a brain and emotions. I'm sorry that sounds callous, but it is an honest truth.

Exactly, I used to run in these circles and my question was always "what is a benefit of marriage for men." The ones who even attempted to answer basically came down to sex, children, and or some nebulous companionship.

I can say that the reward for marriage is a family legacy, if the woman is not cooperative in that goal then its just hell to try to get there. If a man can create a family without marriage that sounds like the best choice.

The problem is divorce. Imo, it should be extremely difficult to divorce. Marriage is a wonderful thing if you commit to it through all the good and the bad. The vows “until death do us part” should matter.
What’s really terrible is that women encourage other women to divorce. As a woman, you have to not listen to other women when it comes to this stuff… or just not tell them when you’re going through tough times.
I’ve been with my husband for 20 years, married 16. We’ve been through a lot of shit together, we basically grow up together through life.
I’ve never loved anyone as deeply as I love my husband and my son. I would die for my family. And I finally know what family means. My husband feels the same way.
You can’t really get to this point, without committing to someone for life and learning to forgive each other. Ride or die.
