Great video, great points on product management. I completely agree that a product manager is pretty much the "ringleader" of the product: you basically have to know all parts/features/pros/cons of the product (usually many products), understand how it compares to competition, know what the customer not only wants but will USE (not always the same thing), and then rally all the teams to get it done - without any real authority, so to speak. Having been a developer, designer, team lead and project manager, I can't think of any one role that needs to be more diverse than a product manager. Love the video!
Intelligent and good looking! Talk about good balance :) All jokes aside I've seen a few videos from this channel and every single one of them has something to learn from.
If the product isn't making any money, isn't it adding to PnL of the company? Haha.. just kidding. Surprisingly, I have developed all these skills over the years with lots of hard work. Time to start applying for some PM role. Loved this video. Thanks Ravi 😊
you make it sound like its tough by saying half the battle only is over, instead of easing through the skills and letting users know the requirements and not how tough or easy it is.
I am working as production manager for last more than 2 years, I like to move for another company. Our company is a small sale. Which course u preferred to me ?

That is a very concise video. Great job. I could relate to each and every skill and could imagine the scenarios where I had to bring these skills in use.
Very true. I could relate to the skills as well. Which is why I wanted to tell you about this community of Product Managers called CohortPlus (cohortplus.com) which has helped me a lot in the past. Just wanted to share. Kudos.

Thanks for the information and making this video :) Howeverr I also think the music is quite loud and makes it hard to listen to what you are saying, and what message you are bringing. Which is a shame, as far as I can judge that is quite decent and easy to understand. Keep up the good work!

Talking to your users is 🔑 We are happy to help you with that at PlaybookUX! Analytical thinking is important since you need to be able to take information from all different disciplines and make effective decisions.
Hi there, a PM here. It depends on the skill. For example, excel n pivot for analysis. Tableau for data dashboard. Google analytics for app monitoring. Balsamiq or Sketch for prototyping. Draw.io for creating user flow. N some other project management tools like Trello, Evernote, Asana, or Confluence. N some understanding of scrum or kanban, but you can learn it on the job.
@Sneha- Not true at all. It is not essential in expressing yourself. Depending in where you are. May be it is in India or Indian culture but not in most Western Countries.
There is no such thing as racism, only heuristics. When I hear an Indian accent, I assume a fake or cheated degree, corruption, and poor quality. Indians working in the West should anglicise their names and lose their accent as quickly as possible. India and Indians have a poor reputation worldwide.
sickre really? That's what you get from Indians ? They're such hard workers, how could you put all of them in one basket! Because you think your country does not have corruption? Ahhh the ignorance! He does not need to anglicise his name to satisfy people like you, get a grip and be more open minded!
@sickre Goodness that's impressively ignorant. And stupid. But I won't waste time having a cyber argument about the obvious reality of racism. You clearly have spent no time almost anywhere professionally. Half - if not more than half now - of Silicon Valley founders are immigrants, and a significant portion of those are Indians. Not just white Americans. Secondly, there's a reason why American firms outsource to Indian tech firms in large swaths. If the quality of work was so poor the cost savings would be outweighed by the marginal loss of customers due to a poor product. The opposite is true. I've learned this myself with startups I've worked on. Third, there's a reason why those of Indian decent are of the main groups protesting Ivy schools for discrimination -- it's because they are routinely of the most qualified to get in!! Fourth, UpGrad is an Indian tech company operating and focused on the Indian markets. Be grateful you're even able to access their content which obviously caught your eye otherwise you wouldn't be on their page. I'm not even Indian yet ignorant comments like yours piss me the hell off. Do your research, jackass. And @UpGrad, thanks for providing such a great resource!

Aside from possibly the being data driven one which could include a bunch of statistics, this was pretty much all soft skills

Fantastic video. I can relate it to my career.

Amazing video! Thanks so much
Great info. Thank you and keep up the great work.
I belong to food industry and we too have product managers. Is tech there means good knowledge of food products or the tech there too is app based?
very informative...
Good summary , short but very go to the points !

Is it really necessary for product managers to have absolute tech knowledge ?
Very well don't video!! Thanks for the awesome summary
Amazing! Thank you so much!
What an incredible video. Thanks a lot!
Is "passion for technology" really a skill...?
He has read Gaayle's book and teaching here some cues out of it!
So Upgrad has over animated Product Mangers? What's up with weird hand movements.
That is a very concise video. Great job. I could relate to each and every skill and could imagine the scenarios where I had to bring these skills in use.

Thanks for the information and making this video :) Howeverr I also think the music is quite loud and makes it hard to listen to what you are saying, and what message you are bringing. Which is a shame, as far as I can judge that is quite decent and easy to understand. Keep up the good work!
I'd also like to advise to talk a bit slower if possible. Your accent in combination with the music makes it a bit harder to follow imho :)
Joris Munnik : agreed!
Cool
Great video! Like it!
Thank you so much! This video really helped me.
We are so glad you liked it!
Is product management the same at every company

I really like this video
Thank you!
Looks like you users (viewers) dont like your hand gestures. Now you have enough data to know what (not) to do in the next video :)
Nn i
no translation caption. I had a hard time to understand what he saying. But I love the video and more knowledge.
Great video just needs some softer background music this was a bit distracting as loud.
it was use full.
Both the blog links don't work. Fake links. Disliked
Hi bro. can you suggest me the software tools needs to know for Product Manager?
Hi there, a PM here. It depends on the skill. For example, excel n pivot for analysis. Tableau for data dashboard. Google analytics for app monitoring. Balsamiq or Sketch for prototyping. Draw.io for creating user flow. N some other project management tools like Trello, Evernote, Asana, or Confluence. N some understanding of scrum or kanban, but you can learn it on the job.
that music is way to loud and busy for people who like to speed videos at 1.5 lol
actually ...alot of people didn't understand the real meaning of product manager that's why they can't make the development to there companies
Did you forget about the school requirements? Otherwise I have all the skills mentioned here.
Looks like the company that provides internet for me badly need a PM, Not able to watch in 120p even
I am a sales Manager wih 6 years experience can I become a product Manager ?
Hi Kiran, our career experts can guide you better and suggest career prospects for you, so please call toll free number 1800 210 2020 for guidance.
One feedback: lose the music
Thanks for your feedback, we will take reference of it.
In your tech industry u say everything is hard.....compare to out side world your hard work is nothing...
Honest feedback. Too general, nothing new. Gained no actual value from this video. Product created/vs actual practicality in a bad ratio here.
Can you shut the annoying BGM?? Absolutely unnecessary
Remove that music
yeah you might want to consider re-recording this video with fewer hand gestures. It was kind of annoying to watch this video
Great Video!
BTW, what is he mentioning at ua-cam.com/video/n530l09t8zY/v-deo.html?
As I say, all you need is a ?
"Everything"
too many words, too little work
The music is so loud cannot listen
Dick stuck in toaster, cannot listen
Too many hand movements - that was really distracting. I had to look away to focus on content
not a pm
I don’t think it was distracting at all! I did not focus on that, I focused on what he had to say! Hand movement is essential in expressing one self!
@Sneha- Not true at all. It is not essential in expressing yourself. Depending in where you are. May be it is in India or Indian culture but not in most Western Countries.
Then AMRITA NAIR you might have to improve your concentration ..as his hands gesture were not at all distracting and he did a wonderful job out there
Terrible accent
Why? Because it's not a familiar American/Western accent?
That's racist by definition.
There is no such thing as racism, only heuristics. When I hear an Indian accent, I assume a fake or cheated degree, corruption, and poor quality. Indians working in the West should anglicise their names and lose their accent as quickly as possible. India and Indians have a poor reputation worldwide.

That's total rubbish I work in the UK with some excellent Indian software developers, PMS, DBAs managers, just racist crap you're talking.
