Great point on the decision-making function and assessing whether you're a good fit for that structure.

Re: your Skill sets vs assigning them to a particular area, I have been rejected many times for not having experience in the exact area of concern. So despite checking all the PM skill set boxes, being transparent in terms of my real world background has worked against me. I wish the speaker’d attitude that someone may have the right stuff but just a bit of mentoring in one new area was more prevalent!

Very informative and love these sessions but can I recommend that the format for these sessions have the presentation in the fore and have the presenter PIP. It's hard to read what's on most of the slides.

When do you know as a product leader when your product manager is ready for that next step? There are many bright product managers that have never actually shipped anything...lots of very impressive sounding work, but no tangible results that lead to demonstrable ROI. In spite of that, what "accomplishments" do product leaders look for when promoting internally.

This! I’ve worked on many amazing and complex features for months that never shipped, for one reason or another; that’s always held against me.

I would suggest that anyone intended on using Airbnb to first visit the BBB, and read through some of the hundreds of comments left by users. It would also be in your best interest to read through all of the terms of service you will be agreeing to, as their policies leave the consumer with little to no legal recourse once agreed upon.
