Team purple’s game had much better mechanics, but the time acceleration and the removal of the cables to connect things to make the little particles you need to click kind of ruined it. Meanwhile, green’s game was very simple in comparison, but the third dev added and improved so much stuff he fixed that. Overall, I think I need to give the win to green team, because even if the way the energy and cash management was implemented at the beggining of purple’s game was just genious, they just ended up removing a lot of that, and the final game was mediocre, while green team started off worse but was able to fix it at the end.
your comment summed up everything i wanted to say. it was hard for me to decide which team wins until team purple removed some of the features. it had a lot of potential.
To really push the limits of this format, you could do a tree structure - one person makes a prototype, two people build on that prototype, then two people develop on that game. It obviously requires a lot of people, already seven for instance with only three passes, but it could be really interesting comparing the products at each stage
There would be too many products to leave a viewer engaged, and they would just be confused after during the third pass. 1 or 2 similar looking but different games work, but 4, and then 8 and then more would just get too confusing.

I absolutely love seeing these games come together through just the "little" interface changes done throughout the process. I love how both of these ended up turning out!
I love the purple team's game visuals, also, the mix of various genres and experiences of the developers really creates a fun and interesting game loop in my opinion.
Man, it's always a blast to participate in these! Love how both of the games took completely different turns after it went through all of the Developers :D I tried my best to add stuff only on top of what has already been built, so hopefully I did not ruin the project 🤞
Team Green easily takes this one in terms of gameplay and I like the cartoony artstyle more! Dev 2 and 3 from Team Green really carried this one hard and added a lot of big features while Team Purples devs added more small features!
Personally, I had a lot less fun Playing Team Greens game. It was boring as you very quickly got OP and from that Point forward, it was just boring. You also got kinda OP in team Purple's game as well, but the Visuals were more satisfying to watch.
Team purple had a greater aesthetic and I liked a lot of the gameplay ideas, although they could’ve used more fleshing out and connecting to older dev stuff
I don't think I've literally ever commented on a UA-cam video before but the little rowboat with a bigass cannon just sitting on it is the best enemy that's ever been put in a video game and I had to say something about it
Despite team purple having a well made user interface and satisfying animations+visuals, team green tops them with gameplay, variety, user friendliness, and polish. There is a lot of capability with both games, and if team purple were given more time I bet there would be an amazing game like greens. Green just got it done quicker I guess.
That would be chaotic in a bad way because without communication how does a dev explore the mechanics of the game in the first place? i cant give a good estimation but it would take at least 30 mins for a dev to review the overall state of the game and that leaves you with 30 min - 1 hour and 30 min to do anything assuming you are an experienced dev who can easily grasp the game's state. The reason the time limit for these videos is 6 hours is so that 1. they can review the game 2. create ideas 3. use those ideas to build on top of the game. The time limit would greatly affect the developer's freedom and creativity. While you could say its a "challenge", its really not because instead of a 6 hour limit where you are challenging yourself to come up with ideas that will greatly impact the game while staying in that time frame, you are instead forced to create something half-baked not due to lack of creativity but due to a outside force called time which takes away the "challenge" and makes it just frustrating.
10 vs 10 two teams next! I really liked Team Purple's approach! It's as if they already knew what features they needed to add. Team Green started rough from the beginning but had a more clean and simple, nevertheless both looks amazing!
Maybe make a "competition", where one developer makes starts making a game, passes it on to two other developers, which then pass it on to two more devs per dev, ending with loads of different, sometimes quite similar, games!
Amazing vid lad, super fun to watch and really unique concept. I would love to see a similar vid but with more devs so the games end up more polished and or more time to each devv so that they can add their own touch and not having to sacrifice their turn just to polish bits and bobs
I would love to see a competition where you provide five elements and three different teams compete to use those elements. Each team uses a different engine, unity, unreal, Godot. To see the kind of games that might be created by the people using the three different engines.
While I love this series so much, I haven't clicked like on any of them so far due to the Replica plug. It feels kinda funny to endorse any AI performance software while the WGA is on strike in America. I can't stress how much I love this series! Thank you for making it!
Team Green definitely got the visuals down better, but in terms of actual gameplay purple seems much more interesting. Also Dev 3 on team green really pulled a lot of weight!
yeah, the level of who does what and which of them is pulling what, I feel like those challenge should be more quantify and qualify differently. Team requires like 4 different player; Graphic designer, Coder, Story teller and finally overall organizer / bug tester.
The problem is, I don’t even need to play the game to tell that the purple game feels like it’s supposed to operate like a tower defense, but it has the mechanics of a city builder, way too much procrastination in making an actual gameplay loop.
Team Green might have more engaging or advanced gameplay in a sense but team purple definitely has better visuals and has this cool “last person in earth” vibe because of how isolated it seems and I like how it kept both gameplay mechanics from the beginning it makes for a sick looking game
i be real wit u green has less advantage in gameplay in my book, but it is more polished and graphically pleasing a straight up tower defense isnt fun, and then one dude did a qol update but backwards, removed more fun by reducing map size progress doesnt mean improvement purple is less polished, but id imagine itd be a little more fun gameplay wise
The problem is with purple is that despite all its fancy looking stuff and mechanics, it has enemies, which means you have to fight them, and fighting them seems boring as heck.
I was really confused through most of this, not realizing everytime it swapped the teams perspective. I think having a graphic on screen to show which team is currently being shown would be really helpful.
I can never understand which team making which game. I'm not sure if thats just me but you can add permanent color indicators on somewhere in video. Like frame or a triangle on top left..
I would say team purple for me. It looks less flat and more directional, and I like the more complicated/advanced mechanics. The glow visuals look great as well!
Team greens project was more polished and seemed like it had a better game loop. I actually preferred a lot of the art from team purple but it didn’t have consistent style.
I think they need a bit more time. But the games still turned out great. i think the lighthouse one wins. Way too much happening with those collectible orbs exploding around in the other one
Both games look quite good, but I like the strategic elements of the energy price economy and nightly attacks of Team purple more than the plants vs zombies clone.
green team gets the win here. I kind of wish purple had moved away from the tower defense elements somehow. I think their whole energy to cash system worked better in a different genre of game, and I bet that two different directions would have made the end products a lot more difficult to judge.
both are amazing but green really does it for me with the aesthetic and how it's not as overwhelming making it easier to play and see what's happening.
I love these team building videos. Seeing the games they make with no communication, makes me wonder what kind of game they could make with communication. Also, I thought it would be cool if half way through the contest, you make a random rule to throw them off a bit. Like, incorporate a dinosaur in the game, and see how they can adapt. Finally, Team Green won this one.
This is a difficult one, but I'll have to go with team Green because the finishing touches the last devs made really brought it to another level! Team Purple's game looks awesome as well :)
I don’t think purple ever really found their footing. I think each dev was maybe a little too wary of taking control and leaning into a real gameplay direction so they just kept tweaking things. Great effort from both teams but this one goes to green pretty handily.
I given my point to purple team. They work more with mechanic systems, and if they had more time, that could be a amazing tycoon game with cool grinding system and perhaps not that much interactive experience as tower defenсe, but still way more addictive game.
I have two videos ideas: 1- to make each dev work on the game for just 3 hours and then pass it to another dev Once the chain is completed you invert it so the last dev will work for a 6 hours and pass it to the previous dev for another 3 hours It will be dope to see the reactions 2- to make it like a tree So the first dev pass it to 2 devs And the two devs each pass it to another 2 and so on Like in the end will be a four or 8 different games
I think purples game seemed more finished. Green needed more scaling and higher dificulty the more money you have, but purple is actually quite pollished
12:10 that's hilarious. Really highlights how important communication is, even if it's just avoiding implementing the same feature twice (with different controls).
I gotta say team green's game seems great. Nice aestethics and engaging gameplay. Purple did good as well but their project isn't nearly as captivating
im not dissing any devs because they all did FANTASTIC, but id rather play team green's game, the way the game is more playable and the use of turtles to help fight, although, for my opinion, if i was there as one of the devs, i would make the defense be sea creatures and buildings that way there is more of a variety instead of just buildings
I think the defense button made team purple lose the edge. The second dev had really great ideas to steer the gameplay into an economy game and I had rooted for it.
Would love to see some sort of tutorial for how Codeer made the tile system for building the platforms! I think both games were interesting overall. Love watching these videos.
This video idea is very nice, I saw now like 4 videos in the last 2 hours, and it’s very fun to watch, but one thing wich bothers me a bit is that the games seem often not finished. Maby it would be even more fun to watch if the devs get like 8-9 hours to develope the game, and the videos would be longer, wich would be also very nice. Nice Content, very fun to watch

I think I am going to have to give my vote to purple, greens feels more completed, but purple just has a certain charm to it
Green is also just plants vs zombies, and I'm mad no one has noticed it.
I just wanted to say these videos are awesome. They legit have given me a whole new appreciation for game devs
Although team purple had an amazing game with cool visuals, the gameplay and simple style of team green's project gives them the win 🏆💚
Hope you’re doing good
green team gets the win here.
Hope you’re doing good
I don’t think purple ever really found their footing. I think each dev was maybe a little too wary of taking control and leaning into a real gameplay direction so they just kept tweaking things. Great effort from both teams but this one goes to green pretty handily.
Feel like it’s an easy team green for me!
I given my point to purple team. They work more with mechanic systems, and if they had more time, that could be a amazing tycoon game with cool grinding system and perhaps not that much interactive experience as tower defenсe, but still way more addictive game.
Team Purple. At the last minute they managed to polish their game into something interesting. The other team made a basic Plant vs Zombies style game.
Exactly. Green's is simply too narrow and not mechanically complex like Purple's. Purple's game is simply a different caliber: on another level.
I have two videos ideas:
1- to make each dev work on the game for just 3 hours and then pass it to another dev
Once the chain is completed you invert it so the last dev will work for a 6 hours and pass it to the previous dev for another 3 hours
It will be dope to see the reactions
2- to make it like a tree
So the first dev pass it to 2 devs
And the two devs each pass it to another 2 and so on
Like in the end will be a four or 8 different games
I think purples game seemed more finished. Green needed more scaling and higher dificulty the more money you have, but purple is actually quite pollished
12:10 that's hilarious. Really highlights how important communication is, even if it's just avoiding implementing the same feature twice (with different controls).
Everyone did a great job but Green just looks a lot more fun to me with some cute graphics
I gotta say team green's game seems great. Nice aestethics and engaging gameplay. Purple did good as well but their project isn't nearly as captivating
Simple review: Purple look good, green feel nice. Green win.
i love these concepts its amazing just how different a game can be from a base template
Both were great but I personally like the green one.
Moonleaf studio did an INSANE JOB!!! So did everyone else but damn, he added basically a whole game lmaooo
Kudos to AwakenStudios for saying, "This isn't my kind of game, but I'm gonna roll with it anyway."
Would have loved to see each dev react to the game at the end…. A bjt more of the final result and gameplay would have been welcome
please make ur videos longer !!! we genuinely wanna see more
Soo happy to see a South African game dev!! 🇿🇦 Let's go boet!
im not dissing any devs because they all did FANTASTIC, but id rather play team green's game, the way the game is more playable and the use of turtles to help fight, although, for my opinion, if i was there as one of the devs, i would make the defense be sea creatures and buildings that way there is more of a variety instead of just buildings
3rd green team dev made a great comeback. Bro added like 50% oftue features. Green team for me
team purple, I also noticed that you put yellow as the color for the text for team green in the competition "flowchart" XD
I think the defense button made team purple lose the edge. The second dev had really great ideas to steer the gameplay into an economy game and I had rooted for it.
my greatest regret is that these ideas can't be combined into a single game with the best of both
Would love to see some sort of tutorial for how Codeer made the tile system for building the platforms!
