  • This video rant is me chronicling the untimely failure of my less than 2-year-old LG induction range. This unit was purchased from Best buy and delivered in October of 2022. It failed in August of 2024 meaning that it never reached its second birthday of use. This product was heavily used in our household, as we prefer to cook our meals as opposed to eating out or ordering take out. After reaching out to LG which yes I know that it's not under warranty but for a product it costs multiple $1,000 to fail. In such a short period of time you think to at least stand by the product. They didn't. Offered no resolutions. I reached out to a repair shop, Sears and company has been around for over 100 years and they failed with their first technician as well. Well. He came in and selected the easiest path for him to get out of the house by having me pay $400 for a control board, which didn't resolve the issue, and potentially would have deepened my sunk cost. Marcos, the second Sears technician was brilliant, but couldn't help without me spending hundreds of $$s more. But he and his manager supposedly refunded me the cost of the part, which I haven't received as of the time of this writing. I have ordered a brand new range, instead of sinking good money after bad. Maybe I will do a quick video when the new range arrives.

Most of the modern appliances have useless bells and whistles that not only jack up the price but also add complexity to repair/service.
