  • Human error that triggered a false missile alert turned Hawaii upside down. People crawled under tables in cafes, were ushered into military hangars and huddled around televisions to watch the news for the latest developments.

If you think they can send that alert by pushing a button. I had more faith in people. This was real nothing fake about it. The Argentina sub that was “lost” shot the missile and we shot it down.

あいなな I agree. I have been on many of the islands. Now that the islands are in danger to a nuclear strike. I personally would like to see shelter's built for the people. The US has the largest buget in defense. How about spending some money on protection on vulnerable targets.

Leo Yohansen just make sure you have a plan. For example. If you have kids in your home that they know to hit the floor. Your bullets will go through walls. Just make sure you know when to shoot so you don't hit anyone accidentally.

I was actually on an overnight feild trip on the USS Missouri in pearl harbor and hearing the entire naval basees sirens go off and the amber alerts all around me was one of the scariest things that ive ever been through. Aswell as not having a phone to call my parents on i didnt know if they were alright and i just needed to hear my mother and fathers voice. Their plan on the boat was to take us into the restricted area in the deepest part of the ship but we all sort of knew we were fucked because all the predictions led to them aiming for Pearl Harbor. I remember calling and calling my mom on a teachers phone and the phones not working because of being overloaded with calls. I remember having to be the one to drag my friends down into the boat because they just stood there not knowing what to do. 38 minutes.

I was at the local Costco across from Krispy Kremes when the alert came. Bad place to get stuck at. Traffic on a normal day was bad enough. It took me over +30 minutes alone to get home to grab my *BOB* thank goodness by then the second advisory came in. I'm kinda glad no one got hurt because of the false alarm.

It took 38 minutes to fix a human error? As soon as they figured out that it was a mistake and that there wasn't a missile coming at them; wouldn't the government have gone to the airways to inform the people? Doesn't make sense that they would let that kind of mass panic go on for 38 whole minutes.

    • @danielkim4249

+HoboSammiches that is what I mean. It feels like that it was real. It feels like that they were telling the truth. Then somehow they were able to counter the attack. Now they are just playing it off as a "human error". If it was a simple mistake, then the government would have retracted it pretty quickly to stave off the mass panic that we actually saw.
I obviously I don't know actual details. It just seems very strange to me.

I was getting up to start a normal day when all the sudden my mom looked at her phone and said oh my gosh! Tears filled her eyes as she rushed to her bathroom to call my Grandma in Michigan. Me, not knowing what the heck was going on , asked my dad whats wrong. He replied "look" as he showed me his phone. There was a message saying "WARNING: THERE IS A NORTH KOREAN MISSLE HEADING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII! (big island) SEEK SHELTER NOW! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! My heart sank.. My dad and I sat down in the hallway. My Mom, still frantically panicking was still in the bathroom. I prayed hoping that this was simply a push of the wrong button. It was one of the only times in my entire life I was shaking with fear. I sat there thinking: is this what my life has come down to. I new that it was only gonna be a few minutes before that damn North Korean missle got here. 2 minutes till nuclear armageddon (I thought) , and the news anchor sayd: so sorry but this was a mishap. There is no missle. A sigh of relief came across the house.

*Hitting* the "wrong button" .. Nope!! there is a massive procedure, we cant issue a sever storm surge warning with out going thought the *Work Place Procedures* (To Avoid Panic) we need to contact 4 CEO Staff members before even issuing an alert (still only need 1 Ceo to issue an alert though after a case is presented), even then you still need to contact 2 support systems before a "Temporary Analysis" with out going to Alert Status... this can take up to 17 minutes before confirmation to even alert the non essential political party/Mayor/Head of state even the Media then you still need to confirm the orders like 16 ump-ton times.... Is Hawaii incompetent? this cant happen? that's why we have these "Procedures"

This alarm is not meant to go off unless its meant to, we alarm test all the time to keep up with operational measures, to think the government wouldn't be more trained and fully operational at all times? we run skeleton crews on weather not even as exciting as "Missile warning" "hence" we go threw massive check list, it's not easy issuing warnings its problematic when your wrong and you cause panic, that's why we are paid to monitor and issue alert warnings when something starts formulating, I'm sure the warning systems for a *Missile* Launch detection agency are for more *Intensive*

Then how can you be sure your alarming message is/was sent immediately as if you really need it works at a critical moment? Again, what they played is a typical Confucianists' trick named '自立靶子自己打', so the whole situation/politrick is totally under their control.

Tera Tokomi Nobody! He was transferred to another department is what I heard just a few minutes ago.
He pulled up the wrong template on the computer (and obviously didn't read it) and pushed the "yes" button and that's what sent out the alert.
      There's an ongoing investigation.

People actually died because of this because. Some people did commit death to themselves, because they rather die from themselves than from this. It’s very sad and I hope that their families are ok
