I remember this day vividly. I live near a military training field here on Oahu and I remember waking up to my phone whaling about this Ballistic Missile Alert. I rushed out to see my dad outside watching the news and he woke up my mom to tell her about the missile alert. About 10 minutes later the nearby military training field started sounding the sirens and then I could hear the intercom from the field: "Military personnel, report to your stations. This is not a drill." From that point on I actually started to believe that it was real. I remember this day like yesterday. I have the screenshot and a few clips from that day. Truly one of the most bizzare experiences I ever had.
@@tokesalot42069 yes, I realize the entire state of Hawaii was notified. I was asking if the military training field that they denoted in their comment was Pearl Harbor, out of curiosity.
If you dig, you will find that there have been MANY near-misses during the Cold War. Only stopped by level-headed radar commanders, both Russian and American.
Normally I would agree. In this case it is far more serious. If I were to say that it was an actual launch by the black op deep state nwo terrorists intended to start ww3 then I would be crazy right? If I were then to say that extraterrestrial probes have been disabling ballistic nuclear warheads for decades than I would be even crazier, right?... Maybe we should start at the top of the rabbit hole and simply ask why an automated emergency response system would need anyone to push a button at all? It is designed to be automatic so that makes no sense and outs anyone who believes it as a fool. Truth: Mythi.com.br
I was playing CoD WWII with friends. My friend, Matt, said someone’s phone is alarming, I checked my phone 8:08am HST, Emergency Alert. I told them, they didn’t believe me, they looked it up, then bid their farewells and asked what I’m going to do. I said, “Let’s play some Domination. If you don’t hear my callouts or I disconnect, I’m dead.” That was an interesting year.
@@skidthescoutmain3753 It was an experience I didn’t expect would happen. There’s no nuclear blast shelters anywhere and literally no where else to run away on a freaking island. Lol. Just a few games with my buddies that I met in Black Ops 2 and having fun dominating lobbies is the only happiness that I wanted.
Lol I was playing a mobile game on my phone. I told the people I was playing with and noone believed me, then one of them looked it up and confirmed I was telling the truth. After which, someone else said "should you even be playing this right now?" That scared me for a second.... then I remembered where I live and how much damage NK nukes can REALLY do. I thought about how stupid it would be for someone to launch a Nuke at Hawaii. It would do NOTHING to the U.S. and the only semi-densely populated city they could hit is Honolulu. After which they would be obliterated off of the map. I concluded that it was either false, would not hurt me directly, or that I could not do anything to stop it. Mostly I thought the first 2 and just felt it was too stupid to be true and just watched everyone freak out.
I was on my trip and then I woke up to a middle warning I literally thought we were gonna die.I told my friends I love them my parents and my girlfriend. Yup. I know big people in the white house. They tell me this. Trump was laughing.. "look! look! look at all of 'em running like idiots." staff, "sir! they're US citizens." T "no, they are not. Look! Most of 'em aren't even white." staffs, "sir.." T "those white people must be tourists. I heard Hawaii is a big, beautiful, tourist places. They're islands, surrounding by water, big water, big ocean water." staff, "sir.. they're US citizens." T, "they don't look like US citizen... now. where's my big Mac?" Yup. Believe me. That's exactly what happened in the trump regime
Can you imagine the amount of people who said some deep secrets because they just wanted to clear their conscience and now everyone who heard it is still alive.
I had the same thought initially about a "Wolf" cry, if you'll allow the metaphor, that no one will take future warnings seriously. However, with another day behind me to think about this, this will actually get people on the island of Hawaii to start seriously considering this scenario. This is the same normalcy bias that hit us on 9/11. As far as the cell phone towers being so backed up you couldn't get a call through, that's why ham radio is so vital still today.
Are you serious..... If someone truly wouldn't take a genuine seeming warning of such a deadly threat seriously even after 5 mistakes like this, then they are pure morons and I'd chalk up any preventable deaths to Darwin awards.
What bunkers? Remember there was even an anti-shelter movement and a movement against emergency drills in the US in the 60s, as part of the "peace movement" and this was encouraged by the Soviet Union which claimed that the building of shelters in the US was an agressive act. Of course the Soviet Union built huge shelters anyway.
Emergency alert systems are by their nature low friction systems and designed to be no more than 1 phone call from activation. The bomb sirens and the messaging blast are likely right next to each other and dead simple to activate. Remember at most it's going to take a warhead 30 min from launch to detonation over a population center add the confirmation from the airforce then relay to state officials and that's stripped down to 15 to 20 min to find shelter. This happened a few time during the cold war too.
i live in hawaii and its surreal to see this video in my recommended list.. like "oh yeah remember the time you thought everyone you loved was about to die". We moved on pretty quickly though, forgot it ever happened.
Taymaniac looks like we’re going to have a Christian revival and Hawaii’s gonna lead in the most Christians being saved him believing on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ because it any minute you guys could be gone you have nowhere to run nowhere to hide

I was on DIVARTY STAFF DUTY when this happened, the saddest part was when this women ran inside because she had went out for a run and she told me she didn't know what to do and that her kids were at home still. I remember telling her the best thing she could do was run back home and be with her kids during that time.
My boyfriend was stationed there, and when I read the news from over there I almost started crying at my workplace at the time. When he messaged me, explaining what had happened, I cried so hard and was so happy that he was okay.
I'm from hawaii and I remember my family was on the way to the airport to drop off my grandparent because they had a flight to the Philippines and everyone's phone went off when I saw the alert on my phone my heart just dropped and we already dropped off my grandparents so we were on the freeway so my mom started speeding, actually everyone on the freeway was just speeding. We went home and we cleared the storage and we stayed in their until it we were announced it was false. I will never forget this day, it was such a surreal moment
You know, maybe this wasn't a bad thing! Now people will realize they don't know what to do if this was real. Maybe people will research and educate themselves on the proper ways to get to safety. Example. Someone breaks into your house. You have no weapons/defense.You hope for the best. The second time someone breaks into your house. You are armed and have a plan in place.
I lived in Kona and as beautiful and sacred as it is, there's not much to go to for shelter. I think it's close to impossible to survive a nuclear threat. But hopefully the officials of the islands will make a place for shelter and protection so it will be possible.
あいなな I agree. I have been on many of the islands. Now that the islands are in danger to a nuclear strike. I personally would like to see shelter's built for the people. The US has the largest buget in defense. How about spending some money on protection on vulnerable targets.
Leo Yohansen just make sure you have a plan. For example. If you have kids in your home that they know to hit the floor. Your bullets will go through walls. Just make sure you know when to shoot so you don't hit anyone accidentally. Hit the intruder not family.
This event really hammers home what we've unfortunately known for decades: there is no "procedure" for a ballistic missile response. There's nothing you can do. If you're in the range of the blast, it's over. Those 20 minutes of warning mean nothing. That's why nuclear disarmament and the prevention of nuclear proliferation is so important. Devastation can only be prevented by ensuring that a nuclear weapon is never used again.
Brah... I still remember sleeping through this, and waking up to the news. I lost my phone that week, and would have just died in my sleep. Can't believe its almost been 3 years
If you own a home or land, invest in a bomb shelter. If you don't, then look up shelters nearby. Honestly, if you live in a big city there probably isn't a whole lot you can do. Even if you own a home in the suburbs and have a bomb shelter, the missile attack could happen during the day when you're at work. Imagine trying to get home when everyone in the city is running around in a panic. Someone will probably cause a car wreck and that will bring traffic out of the city to a stand still. There isn't a whole lot you can do. The governments in all major cities would need to heavily invest in bomb shelters for a massive population and that would be a huge financial undertaking, so it's unlikely to happen. I think the best you could hope for is to go into the sewer or subway and hope it doesn't collapse on you.
WTF? They said somebody hit the wrong button during a shift change... So instead of clicking “Clock Out” they clicked “Send Ballistic Missile Launch” instead? What kind of system do they have???
I live in Hawaii and yes everyone in my neighborhood was freaking out. I don’t think it was a mistake. They are just trying to cover it up. It doesn’t take 38 minutes to send a false alarm.
Kylie that is what I say and the governor has the nerves to blame it on the military as if this country made ballistic missile suits for military personnel to stand outside and do god knows what.

Peace Seeker No, they won't. At first this woman thought it was fake. This is the typical response of most American's. Everything is fake. Look up nuke pranks on youtube. See everyone's reactions. If we were to get nuked, everyone would die for lack of unpreparedness.

I was actually on an overnight feild trip on the USS Missouri in pearl harbor and hearing the entire naval basees sirens go off and the amber alerts all around me was one of the scariest things that ive ever been through. Aswell as not having a phone to call my parents on i didnt know if they were alright and i just needed to hear my mother and fathers voice. Their plan on the boat was to take us into the restricted area in the deepest part of the ship but we all sort of knew we were fucked because all the predictions led to them aiming for Pearl Harbor. I remember calling and calling my mom on a teachers phone and the phones not working because of being overloaded with calls. I remember having to be the one to drag my friends down into the boat because they just stood there not knowing what to do. 38 minutes.
I remember this. I was in Canada, and we heard a lot of what was going on by the radio, and television. It wasn't as much as "Oh god, we might die", but "Oh god, what if there's a war"... Cause normally ballistic missiles are either Nuclear, or equally as bad, minus the radiation.
A lot of people did, I had a couple friends doing it. All I did was sleep through it, no use running lmao there are no bomb shelters in hawaii that are still active. I was in my dorm slumped.
@@RomanesEuntDomus. It doesn't need to be 2 miles underground, the North Koreans don't have the Tsar Bomba. Their nukes are 10-20kt. You could survive that with 3-5 feet of dirt above you.
What makes me mad about this story other than the panic it stirred, is the fact that it seems Hawaii has no missile defense system. Now it could be they want to keep that under wraps, but I would be insanely angry if a missile was coming and our country didn't have an adequate missile defense system in place. The truth is if a nuclear missile was headed in our direction, there is nothing YOU can do to survive that unless you have an underground bunker somewhere. Most people in the target zone of a nuclear warhead will die. Your only chance is if we can shoot the sucker down before it get's near the target.
Yea this was an accident, if it were real the red be so many anti missles in the air to shoot it down between hawaii and Korea the odds are pretty good we would shoot it down.

@@francmarcus8433 I don't get why the White House is their target. Do governments exist because of their respective building? If they get to send 40 nukes to the white house, they'll know it pretty fast and probably jump into a jet to the other side of the world.
At least they felt the panic that the PAKISTANIS, Iraqis, Afghanis, Yemenis and all those bombed by the USA even just for 30 minutes and even without casualty. If they felt so vulnerable and weak, how much more those the USA bombed to death just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time or the bombs just fell on the wrong target?!
Except Hawaii is incredibly liberal and doesn't generally support ANY of the aggressive American foreign policy. Even more, Hawaii was acquired (essentially stolen, actually) by the United States. American companies were growing sugar and pineapples on the island and didn't like the monarchy there, so affiliates of those companies held the king of the time literally at gunpoint and forced him to sign the Bayonet Constitution to weaken monarchy rule at the benefit of the plantation companies. When he died, his sister became queen and was the last queen of Hawaii-- Queen Liliuokalani. She didn't agree with the new constitution whatsoever and was basically going to do undo it, but a coup (led by Sanford Dole, whose cousin would go on to found the still-popular Dole fruit company) supported and backed by the US military deposed her in 1893. They set up a temporary government, declared it a republic a year later, and annexed it five years after that. Queen Liliuokalani tried to appeal to President Grover Cleveland for reinstatement, but of course it never happened. Hawaii was made a state in 1959, but there is still talk among Native Hawaiians of restoring the monarchy. So like ... this "at least they felt the panic" remark really does not pan out when applied to Hawaii because they are still working out US interference in their state. I haven't even touched on the adverse effects of American tourism there either.
I live on Maui. We locals would've gone to the old Wailuku post office fallout shelter or the lava tubes just past upcountry Kula. But the problem we have is time. I was at the local Costco across from Krispy Kremes when the alert came. Bad place to get stuck at. Traffic on a normal day was bad enough. It took me over +30 minutes alone to get home to grab my *BOB* thank goodness by then the second advisory came in. I'm kinda glad no one got hurt because of the false alarm.
It took 38 minutes to fix a human error? As soon as they figured out that it was a mistake and that there wasn't a missile coming at them; wouldn't the government have gone to the airways to inform the people? Doesn't make sense that they would let that kind of mass panic go on for 38 whole minutes.
Yes, you need to confirm with federal agencies and radar communications to ensure a threat is real or fake. You don't want to say its a false alarm too quickly when people's lives are at stake and they're already seeking shelter. Think critically dude
+HoboSammiches that is what I mean. It feels like that it was real. It feels like that they were telling the truth. Then somehow they were able to counter the attack. Now they are just playing it off as a "human error". If it was a simple mistake, then the government would have retracted it pretty quickly to stave off the mass panic that we actually saw. I obviously I don't know actual details. It just seems very strange to me.
I thought the exact same. Why would the government let Hawaii or the rest of the states go into that state of panic? It took 38 minutes to fix so I think that it should have taking shorter to tell people it was an accident!
I’m just watching this over and over again because this was on my grandpa’s birthday and if the missle did actually hit us, I would’ve probably been dead.

That scared me for a second.... then I remembered where I live and how much damage NK nukes can REALLY do.

Okana Adonis that will never happen.

Shows how unprepared we are. The mainland would have been in the same disarray. We can not expect someone to save us if it comes. Make your own plan.
Hamfists Man how are you suppose to prepare for a missle lol

I was actually on an overnight feild trip on the USS Missouri in pearl harbor and hearing the entire naval basees sirens go off and the amber alerts all around me was one of the scariest things that ive ever been through. Aswell as not having a phone to call my parents on i didnt know if they were alright and i just needed to hear my mother and fathers voice. It wouldnt help. You'd have to be far away from Ground Zero to have a chance.
Unless those preppers had a concrete bunker 2 miles under the ground, I'd doubt they'd be able to survive a ballistic missile

Stevie D did you pull this out of imagination land because yours is very interesting
Lol.... Good story bro! Just be glad that shiney red button wasn't connected to any active missile systems.
Underrated comment 😂
this needs to be top comment LMAO!

I bet they did this on purpose to remind people of fear.
Why do they want to scare such a small place like Hawaii though?
it doesnt just scare Hawaii, it scared Americans
Because it's the most likely target for NK after Guam, perhaps blended with resistance to the current administration
North Korea just wants the ability to defend itself, they are probably the most hated country in the world, and they are against countries that do have nuclear weapons. its not a surprise that they would want it too. how many years have gone by with the media trying to scare people about north korea lol, if it was gonna happen, it would of happened.
Lesbanian and people went right back to doing nothing.
2:41 my worst nightmare
Literal nuke: heading towards your city
Hawaiians: yes I will run through the streets and panic because that will 100% help to save my life I can outrun a literal nuclear missile
You're probably joking, but your brain just turns off when shit like this happens
some of them were running to fallout shelters
@@politics-realitytv4578 fallout shelters won’t do anything there’s a misconception that only 1-2 nukes will be used on a certain area so deep underground bunkers would work but the entire area will probably be pepper sprayed with about 15-20 nukes which no bunker could survive the fact is your stepping inside a giant microwave. If you search up declassified files of US and Soviet Union ballistic missile projections the soviets literally had about 35-40 Pointed *DIRECTLY* at the White House I highly doubt any bunker could withstand that much energy same thing with population centers in movies it’s depicted that maybe 1 or 2 would go off but in reality and going back to declassified files from the Soviet Union the entire New York city area was gonna get sprayed with around 70-100 nukes........... it’s called mutually assured destruction for a reason *NO ONE SURVIVES*
I'm pretty sure some people were running to their family and friends to say last goodbyes. Pretty dark situation.
If they felt so vulnerable and weak, how much more those the USA bombed to death just because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time or the bombs just fell on the wrong target?!
latesukiyaki Shut upppp
They were testing to see how the people would react to such a situation
Charles Tucker im not sure if they failed or did good because i barley see any footage of it happening
Looks like a hack or experiment?
Charles Tucker no you stupid ass someone accidently sent out a missile message
Charles Tucker stop lying some moron hit the wrong button
obama supporter trying to make trouble
Think about that horrible feeling you get when you send the wrong text to someone.
Now imagine what the person was feeling who screwed this up..
Brianna Gordy lmao
Guy who pressed the button is the prank of the year
Never mind the panic. What if the false alert had triggered retaliatory action against N. Korea?
I live on Maui. We locals would've gone to the old Wailuku post office fallout shelter or the lava tubes just past upcountry Kula. But the problem we have is time. I was at the local Costco across from Krispy Kremes when the alert came. Bad place to get stuck at. Traffic on a normal day was bad enough. It took me over +30 minutes alone to get home to grab my *BOB* thank goodness by then the second advisory came in. I'm kinda glad no one got hurt because of the false alarm.
Night Rider it's still there with it's bright red neon hot light! Sadly the K-Mart across the street is gone. It closed last year.
Night Rider Lol.... Still can find cheap eats at the local Minute Stop. Prices here really getting insane.
If that alert had gone out in say, California, or Florida.... it would be chaos.
perhaps that was the M.O. behind it?
You would've Loved the Cuban Missile Crisis!
It took 38 minutes to fix a human error? As soon as they figured out that it was a mistake and that there wasn't a missile coming at them; wouldn't the government have gone to the airways to inform the people? Doesn't make sense that they would let that kind of mass panic go on for 38 whole minutes.
CNN has 24 hours of the same TYPE of messages everyday... - fake/false/erroneous, except in their case, no-one ended up watching in the first place?
Eric Brown
Are you stupid or are you just leaving your copy pasta here to rot in your foolishness

Our commander-in-chief could not be bothered, he was playing golf I never left the course. Suddenly George W bushes 2 1/2 minutes doesn’t look so bad
TRUMPTARD VON CLOWNDICK thank god he was on the golf course. He can't wait to push his big button and murder millions of people

Those systems are linked to missile tracking systems, not “a button”. The same thing happened in Japan minutes earlier. Weird.
Im not too sure. Sirens are supposed to go off but none did
I think it's because if it was sent by Korea or something Japan could shoot it out of the sky because that IS one system in place invade something like that happens. Idk though
There was never a missile launch because if there were do you really think the US would let who ever launched it get off just like that? no way dude, it would be ww3 no if buts or whens just right then and there.
The government are alerted by those tracking systems, and then they give the "go" for the EAS

"my buddy, Kim, betrayed me", It wasn't me...! :)
I was getting up to start a normal day when all the sudden my mom looked at her phone and said oh my gosh! Tears filled her eyes as she rushed to her bathroom to call my Grandma in Michigan. Me, not knowing what the heck was going on , asked my dad whats wrong. He replied "look" as he showed me his phone. There was a message saying "WARNING: THERE IS A NORTH KOREAN MISSLE HEADING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII! (big island) SEEK SHELTER NOW! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! My heart sank.. My dad and I sat down in the hallway. My Mom, still frantically panicking was still in the bathroom. I prayed hoping that this was simply a push of the wrong button. It was one of the only times in my entire life I was shaking with fear. I sat there thinking: is this what my life has come down to. I new that it was only gonna be a few minutes before that damn North Korean missle got here. 2 minutes till nuclear armageddon (I thought) , and the news anchor sayd: so sorry but this was a mishap. There is no missle. A sigh of relief came across the house.
