This was one of the first songs I learned on the banjo. I love that tune. I once attended a workshop with Peter. The workshop was held one day before a Banjo festival Contest and I decided to enter after 3 months of playing. Peter put down my banjo so bad at the workshop because it was Japanese made and it was gold plated. At the time it was all my parents could afford. I used that exact same banjo the next day to win the contest and guess who was one of the blind judges in a Van behind the stage lol lol give you one guess...not my favorite person ever since. The irony... I played Flint Hill special and Armadillo Breakdown. Even better...first place prize was the same Iida banjo but in silver lol...I still have both lol.

Ben Perea Yeah that sucks that he did that. However, I’m not surprised. I find many people in the “Old-Time” scene to be almost autistic, as their social skills are so bad. And I have experienced that many in that scene will say absolutely clueless, demeaning things to people. I can only assume that they LITERALLY don’t know any better. (Back to the autism theory). But hey-CONGRATULATIONS on having the last laugh!!!

@@stevenkoehler6018 That being said, Pete is more responsible for getting first timers and closet pickers together to jam and pick together as any instructor out there. He can come across as brash, but he also pushes people out of their self imposed comfort zone to perform at the best of their capabilities. He has stepped on my toes at times but it was always for the better and I thank him for it. Take it as a compliment if he takes the time to critique you. It's because he hears something that is potentially good in your playing.

gutbucket Yes it can be a fine line between being an A-Hole, and lighting a fire under you. It’s an art in itself. Good for him for caring enough to make people better.
