Really heartbreaking to hear Dakota's story about what she went through working on the show with Bryan elsey and the way she didn't recognise Franky's character anymore when the scripts got changed . I hope this makes people more angry towards the writers and not her because it wasn't her fault . And I think mini and franky should've been endgame I mean hello that one episode about them had such queer vibes and then did a complete u turn
I know it’s just April’s opinion but hearing her say she doesn’t think you can have a “sisterhood” with trans woman, kind of broke my heart cause I have such a strong sisterhood with so many trans woman just the exact same way I have with cis woman.
17:15 yes, it was an interesting scene. I'll never forget Maxi saying "well, we've finally found something you're not good at". Brilliant attack on Tony's ego. Eatching with my teenage son, we both said "Touche" at the same time. Two generations got the joke! 😂
14:20 in general I liked Franky's ending where she meets her mum. I also found it to be very emotional. But yeah, it was weirdly rushed and came suddenly out of nowhere. I think it would've been better if the character was always, from the beginning, in search for her mother. I mean I guess it was hinted, as I remember it right, that the urge to find her came from Mini's pregnancy and Mini becoming a mum which remembers Franky of the fact that she doesn't have one. But they could've fleshed it out better. So that maybe e.g. Mini thinks about giving her baby free to adoption and Franky gets angry about it because she believes a child needs a mother or smth like that.....and that's why she suddenly wants to find her mother. And I mean....it didn't even seem like much of a challenge to find her or at least a relative, her sister. So I ask myself...why didn't she do it much earlier then? It also bugged me a little that her sister first tells her that her mother is dead.....but then a few days later I guess she just speaks the truth to Franky, out of nowhere, and drives her to her mother which is.....idk was it something like a psychiatry or just a home for the elderly? That was also never really explained. It was also never really explained why she gave Franky away (but not her sister). Out of context was it a really beautiful scene but with context it was pretty weird and I was full of unanswered questions. Probably more than before
@April! The Take has a fantastic video on Shipping and wanting characters to be in relationships. Highly recommend. That said, I genuinely was mad that 1) they never explored Franky being genderqueer in some way, and 2) they REFUSED to explore the relationship between Mini and Franky in a romantic capacity despite hinting at it. I agree that friendships are absolutely valuable, but the reason I'm on this is bc I really think Skins could have been even more than it was through Franky. Skins I think really had so much of an impact, and actually (imho) could have had *more* if they were willing to be more progressively minded. Can y'all imagine? Skins could have been LEGENDARY for queer representation with Franky and they tried to turn her into Effy instead. Franky was the character that actually got me to question my own gender and gender presentation so I'm team #Justice4Franky (also Mini and Grace).
Me too omg 😲 I love franky and mini as friends,as enemies to lovers,anything tbh and also having an androgynous character in TV was rare for that time in mainstream shows so we deserved to have some kind of storyline about frankys sexuality and gender not just the subtle hints we got instead
I don't think a good romantic relationship or finding her real family makes a good happy ending for Frankie.. I think she couldn't be genuinely fulfilled with that.. She is much more complex and we saw that with relationship with Mattie..
