i think the last line of the song, "I lean into a box of pine, identify the kid as mine" is the best line of the song. Morrissey truly portrays the song as being sang from the POV of a father who just wants to see his son, but at the end sees that he was too late and he is now dead
how come more people not know about this, the song and the city itself is gorgeous.. i live in Istanbul, and this is one of a song that i listen to when i wander around the narrow streets of Istanbul.. such mesmerising city.~
once, in istanbul, i stole some private tapes from a party. when i watch them back at home, it's tears of joy: two turkish boys in a beautiful back alley full of blooming cherrytrees, kissing each other while watching a street cat give birth to it's young. don't know who filmed it, but i want to believe it's morrisey's son from istanbul... perfect soundtrack for sure...

I feel that ezan puts a nice harmony to the song so for once we all can stop being ashamed of the culture of us and just enjoy the song maybe. That's all I can advice, best regards :)
@@ilaydaaltndagl2497 I don’t agree, it’s arabic religion but it has been our culture, tradition and the way of life for centuries, I’m myself not religious but still in this song I like to hear those voices reminding me of where I live
This is one of Morrissey’s best. I always say I feel so blessed to have lived in a time that he has made music.
I am from İstanbul. I love you Morrissey

Outstanding track.One of Morrissey's greatest.
Why is this one of the few albums of his not on Spotify or Amazon music 😩
I wondered why
Unfortunately he had and probably still has some problems with Harvest Records that made this album.
my friend who likes the smiths did not like this album but i managed to find one good song (istanbul) among all the others
Amazing! so much love from İstanbul ☺️❤️
istanbulu keşfederken dinleyeceğim bu şarkıyı
En sevdigim Istanbul sarkisi.
I saw him in LA last month at the Hollywood Bowl. He was so great, I listen to his music all the time.
More people need to listen to this cat.... Been down since the smiths
As far as favourite songs go, this one is my joint 1st, along with about forty other Morrissey gems
